Specification
WE CLAIM:
1. An improved process for the preparation of 2-(3, 4-Dimethylphenyl)-5-methyl-lH-pyrazol-3(2H)-one having the structural Formula I,
Formula I
which comprises:
1. condensation of 3,4-dimethylphenylhydrazine hydrochloride
3,4-Dimethylphenylhydrazine.HCl with ethyl acetoacetate in presence of suitable salt and solvent or mixture of organic solvents to obtained 2-(3, 4-dimethylphenyl)-5-methyl-lH-pyrazol-3(2H)-one compound of Formula I.
2. The process claimed in claim 1, wherein said base is selected from group consisting of sodium acetate, Ammonium acetate or Ammonium formate.
3. The process claimed in claim 1, wherein said solvent is selected from Aromatic, organic solvent or Alcoholic solvent
4. The process as claimed in claim 3, wherein aromatic organic solvents such as toluene, xylene or mixture of xylenes.
5. The process according to claim 3, wherein alcoholic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, n-butanol, propanol or isopropanol.
