AN IMPROVED PRODUCT

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention in general relates to a composition for correction of defective nervous system and in particular to a composition derived from natural and commonly available products, said composition being effective in treatment of acute neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Neurological diseases are intensifying with the growing mental and physical stress in the highly developing modern society. Parkinson's disease in particular is one of such acute neurological disease.

Parkinson is a well-known disease in art, with no particular medicine available in market to cure it completely. Parkinson's disease is associated with a disorder of nervous system of the body. It hampers the normal activities of the body such as walking, movement, or co-ordination and sometimes speaking. The reason for this disease could be genetic or sometime could be the result of adverse effect of modernization and environmental factor. Multidisciplinary scientific investigations are making best efforts to combat this disease, but the sure-shot; the perfect cure is yet to be deciphered.

Though Parkinson's disease often develops after the age of fifty, but due to the adverse effect of modernization, it could happen at very younger age also. It affects both men and women.

Nerve cells use a brain chemical called dopamine to help control muscle movement. Parkinson's disease occurs when the nerve cells in the brain that make dopamine are slowly destroyed. Without dopamine, the nerve cells in the part of the brain can not properly send messages. This leads to the loss of muscle function. The damage gets worse with time. Although it is well known that lack of dopamine causes the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, it is not clear why the dopamine-producing brain cells deteriorate. Genetic and pathological studies have revealed that various dysfunctional cellular processes, inflammation, and stress can all contribute to cell damage.

There is currently no sacrosanct treatment to cure Parkinson's disease. Several therapies are available to delay the onset of motor symptoms and to ameliorate motor symptoms. All of these therapies are designed to increase the amount of dopamine in the brain either by replacing dopamine, mimicking dopamine, or prolonging the effect of dopamine by inhibiting its breakdown. Studies have shown that early therapy in the non-motor stage can delay the onset of motor symptoms, thereby extending quality of life.

In earlier stages of Parkinson's disease, substances that mimic the action of dopamine (dopamine agonists), and substances that reduce the breakdown of dopamine (monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) inhibitors) can be used for treatment of Parkinson's disease. For some individuals with advanced, virtually unmanageable stage, surgery may be the only option.

It is known that effective therapy for Parkinson's disease can be levodopa (Sinemet), which is converted to dopamine in the brain. However, long-term treatment with levodopa leads to unpleasant side effects such as a shortened response to each dose, painful cramps, and involuntary movements and so on. In brief, the in vogue therapeutic applications are known to have severe side effects apart from being exorbitantly costly, thereby leading to immense pubic dissatisfaction.

Recently, a greater emphasis has been given towards the researches on complementary and alternative therapies that deal with Parkinson's disease. Several studies have been conducted on herbs for their therapeutic properties. Ayurveda, a traditional Indian treatment has been successfully used from very early times for preventing or suppressing various neurological diseases.

In brief, various natural products or the very commonly available products have been reported through scientific research to possess some therapeutic properties for treatment of Parkinson's disease. However, obtaining a synergistic composition from natural and commonly available products for treatment of acute neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease in sacrosanct manner is yet to be achieved.

Accordingly, there is a long felt need to obtain a synergistic composition comprising optimum portions of ingredients derived from natural and commonly available products which can be effectively applied for treatment of acute neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease.

The present invention meets the aforesaid long felt need.
All through out the specification including the claims, the words "ayurvedic", "natural products", "extract", "tablets", "powder", "Parkinson", "neurological disease" are to be interpreted in the broadest sense of the respective terms and includes all similar items in the field known by other terms, as may be clear to persons skilled in the art. Restriction/limitation, if any, referred to in the specification, is solely by way of example and understanding the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following describes some preferred embodiments and examples of the present invention, which are purely for the sake of understanding the performance of the invention, and not by way of any sort of limitation.

As stated under the heading "BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION" the conventional drugs for treatment of Parkinson's disease have been the cause of immense public dissatisfaction due to the severe side effects and involvement of high cost. Furthermore, although, various chemical entities have been reported through scientific research for treatment of Parkinson's disease, a synergistic composition comprising of optimum proportions of ingredients derived from various natural and commonly available products in combination with or without suitable excipients, to provide sacrosanct treatment of defective nervous system in humans suffering from acute neurological diseases such as Parkinson's disease, was very much lacking. The composition according to the present invention is immaculately effective in treatment of Parkinson's disease, is reasonably cheap and has no side effects. This is exactly what the present invention provides.

The present invention is based on the results deciphered through extensive research and the conclusion therefrom, that various nervous disorder and lacking of movement of different parts of the body can be corrected by a synergistic composition derived from various natural and commonly available products, of course in combination with or without other excipients in acceptable dosage. In the above context it is hereby clarified, that simply by way of example and for understanding the present invention and not by way of any limitation, the composition, in accordance with the present invention, have been referred to as being administered to patients in powdered dosage form. It should be understood to persons skilled in the art that the present invention is equally administrable in all other dosage forms such as but not limited to tablets and capsules and will be equally effective on being administered in such dosage forms, in achieving the objects of the present invention.

The present invention provides a composition for treatment of patients suffering from nervous disorder, derived from effective proportions of suitable ingredients with or without effective proportions of suitable excipients(s) said ingredients including:

1) Mercuric oxide (lg)
2) Soda Carbonate (lg)
3) Honey (50g)
4) Curcuma longa (5g)
5) Alahgiumdecapetalum (5g)
6) Raw salt (1.5g)
7) Black Salt (2g)

Here Alahgiumdecapetalum act as an extracting agent and large quantity of honey is mixed to give a sweet taste. Pure ghee or butter can also be used as medium. The ingredients are applied in powdered and/or extract form.

The exemplary proportions by weight in which the ingredients are applied are as follows:

i) Mercuric oxide - 0.316%
ii) Soda Carbonate -0.316%
iii) Honey -95.08%
iv) Curcuma longa -1.58%
v) Alahgiumdecapetalum -1.58%
vi) Raw salt -0.47%
vii) Black Salt -0.62%

The manufacturing method includes grinding the ingredients for 36 hours in Alahgiumdecapetalum extract and drying the same in sunlight, putting the mixture so obtained in a small closed mud pot and burning it with buffalo stool so as form a powder for its application. This powder is mixed in large quantity of honey and administered in to Patients with Parkinson's disease as prescribed. The powder is divided into required number of dosage. Optionally, the actives so extracted are further applied in the method in extract form.
