FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved railway anti creep grooved rubber sole plate. More particularly, the invention provides an element to suitably grip between the rail and Pre Stressed Concrete (PSC) Sleeper and to attenuate vibrations and absorbing dynamic loads transmitted by vehicles to rails.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Rail transport which is managed by central government is one of the most important modes of transport in India. Indian railway system is a public utility transport and has grown to be the fourth largest in the World and largest in the Asia. The total railway network covers 115000 Km of track over a route of 65000 Km with 7500 railway stations.
Because of importance of railway transport in India, large funds are invested every year to maintain and upgrade the railway system. The most important part of any railway system is railway track, hence the need for the maintenance of railway track cannot be overlooked. Safety and quality standard are set in every railway system for track maintenance, which includes inspection, track data collection and possible renewals.
In general, a railway track system consists of rail steel, concrete sleepers and the track fasteners. Rubber pad or Grooved Rubber Sole Plate (GRSP) is placed between the rail steel and the sleeper to provide insulation, absorb vibrations and also increase the coefficient of friction between the rail and the sleeper.
There are various attempts have been taken in GRSP to dampen vibrations, protect the ties from dynamic impact loading, and to reduce rail wear and rolling stock maintenance costs. The conventional GRSP are formed of a flexible elastomeric material such as natural rubber. Such material however does not have sufficient resistance against wear and rips caused by compression and repeated tangential forces exerted by passing rail wheels.
Furthermore, such known GRSP conventionally has employed a substantially rectangular or trapezoidal shape. As a result, pressure from a passing train and rail concentrates substantially at the center of the elastic pad. This concentrated load exerts maximum pressure on the underlying tie resulted premature failure of GRSP. Despite of many changes in the specification of GRSP, it deteriorates at faster speed than expected and need to be replaced premature.
The present invention eliminates the problems and disadvantages of pre existing GRSP which is suitable for modern railway track requirement and quality standard. It provides better field properties like resilience, higher creep resistance and electrical resistance and solves the problem of premature failure of GRSP.

Yet another object of this invention is to provide an improved GRSP having the properties of high resistance to wear and tangential shear forces.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved railway anti creep grooved rubber sole plate. More particularly, the invention provides an element to suitably grip between the rail and PSC Sleeper and to attenuate vibrations and absorbing dynamic loads transmitted by vehicles to rails.
In one aspect, the present invention provides an anti creep grooved rubber sole plate (GRSP) made from a suitable metallic or polymer lining, sandwiched between two or more layers, similar or different materials, so as to impart additional tensile strength to the device. The invention further provides a GRSP having two opposite sides, characterized in that at least one of its opposite sides is a surface with at least a suitable number of semispherical or similar cavities made and arranged alternately one into another so as to augment the creation of vacuum between the two contact surfaces i.e. the GRSP and the Rail bottom and the GRSP and the top of Pre Stressed Concrete (PSC) Sleeper.
In another aspect, the present invention is providing a GRSP installed by treating both the surfaces i.e. top and bottom surfaces with strong sticker adhesive, and then covering these surfaces with a release paper. This release paper on both sides is removed immediately before putting the GRSP’s into service onto railway track. The strong adhesion properties of the agent provide a strong bonding between the three surfaces i.e. PSC Sleeper, GRSP and Rail. This in turn restricts any unwanted movement of Rail against the PSC Sleepers.
The invention ensures to get very effective anti creep GRSP. During passage of a rail vehicle the GRSP according to the invention creates vacuum between the two contact surfaces that is why it well attenuates vibrations and absorbs impacts emerging during rolling of rail vehicle wheels on a fragment of the rail lying directly on this pad. The GRSP, according to the invention, does not shift relative to the lower surface of a rail foot and/or the upper surface of a sleeper. Hence it does not slip out of the gap between a rail foot and a sleeper .This prevents abrasive wear of the sleeper and also protects the elastic pad from wear and tear, according to the present invention.
These and other objects, features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description, which, taken in conjunction with the drawings, discloses preferred embodiments of the present invention.
