An Improved Tyre Carcass Drum
Abstract: A tyre carcass drum assembly and an improved tyre carcass building method wherein the tyre carcass drum assembly comprises of a main shaft (3); a cylinder assembly (4, 5) comprising of two halves, connected to the main shaft coaxially to perform as a rotating member; plurality of wedges (11) fitted with strips (15) in the inner periphery; flanges (LH, RH) to couple said cylinder assembly (4,5) with said wedges(11) and to guide the said wedges (11) during expand and collapse operation of the drum; plurality of Control rings (7) fitted with LH and RH flanges (1,2) to restrict the movement of the wedges (11) on both sides; plurality of base segments (6) fitted in the outer periphery of wedge (11); sealing assembly attached to the outer periphery of the main shaft (3) to prevent air leakage between two flanges of the cylinder; and a roller assembly (14) fitted with the outer periphery of said cylinder assembly (4,5) to slide on the strip (15) fitted with said wedges (11) allowing the drum to expand and collapse.
