FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a cable reeling system for electrical power supply to
a wing tripper machine in a Raw Material Handling Plant involving structurally
extended wheel mounted movable platform having a cable reeling drum and
associated equipment mounted thereon to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the
equipment during travel on entire length of track.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is well known in the field of material handling and stacking in large stock yards,
wing tripper machine is utilized for material handling which travel on tracks and need
to have continued electrical power supply for its operation. Existing wing tripper
machine was earlier provided with bus bar and current collector system for power
supply wherein the collector remain in contact with bus bar during operation/travel
for getting power supply to the tripper machine.
In the earlier arrangement in wing tripper machine, the carbon brush type current
collectors were used for electrical connection from copper bus bars. The current
collectors located just above ground level below a concrete platform and the bus
bars were stretched over a length of 374 meters. These current collectors used to
get misaligned and out of contact from bus bars due to several reasons e.g.
misalignment of tracks of the wing tripper, the wing tripper machine's structural
deformities and skewness etc. This caused interruptions in power supply to the
equipments and frequent delays/stoppage in operation adversely affecting the
productivity in material handling.
There has been thus need to develop a system for power supply to the traveling wing
tripper which would ensure continuous power supply without interruptions and
delays. However, there was no space in the machine to mount a cable reeling drum
system to overcome the problem.
The present invention thus attempts to solve the electrical power supply to an
operating wing tripper by providing an extended platform in the wing tripper
machine where a cable reeling drum system could be mounted to have a trailing

cable system in order to avoid electrical delays due to problems arising from
misalignment in current collectors of the erstwhile current collector system.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The basic object of the present invention is directed to provide an improved power
supply system to wing tripper machine involving providing wheel mounted movable
extended platform attached to the wing tripper machine where a cable reeling drum
system could be mounted to have a trailing cable system in order to avoid electrical
delays/ power interruptions.
A further object of the present invention is directed to provide an improved power
supply system to wing tripper machine involving wheel mounted movable extended
platform attached to wing tripper machine for mounting a cable reeling drum with a
trailing cable system which would ensure a structurally rigid and stable wheel
mounted movable platform structure to maintain the stability and track movement of
the machines with existing drives of the wing tripper machine.
A still further object of the present invention is directed to provide an improved
power supply system to wing tripper machine involving wheel mounted movable
extended platform attached to wing tripper machine for mounting a cable reeling
drum with a trailing cable system to achieve the proper payout and rewind of the
cable while wing tripper is in motion on tracks.
A further object of the present invention is directed to provide an improved power
supply system to wing tripper machine involving wheel mounted movable extended
platform attached to wing tripper machine for mounting a cable reeling drum with a
trailing cable system to eliminate the electrical breakdowns and delays due to
misalignment of current collectors in the old system and avoid loss of associated
production and productivity in raw material handling plant.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING FIGURES
The present invention is directed to providing an improved power supply system for
wing tripper involving an arrangement in the wing tripper machine consisting of
wheel mounted movable extended platform and associated cable reeling equipment
mounting on the platform in a wing tripper, thereby providing a structurally rigid,
extended wheel mounted platform for mounting a cable reeling drum and associated
equipment in a wing tripper machine, which is movable on tracks along with the wing
tripper machine as well as proper arrangement of Cable reeling drum for winding and
unwinding the cable while the wing tripper is on motion on tracks, keeping the
stability of the old machine unaffected.
The improved power supply system for wing tripper thus comprises:
1. Structurally rigid wheel mounted movable extended platform
2. Associated Cable reeling drum based current collector system mounted on the
movable extended platform.
Accompanying Figure 1 illustrates the wing tripper machine prior to the innovation,
with bus bar and current collector system which suffered from frequent electrical
power disconnection due to misalignment etc. and associated delays and loss of
production.
Thus in the improved power supply arrangement for wing tripper, the wheel mounted
movable extension provides a structurally rigid extended platform for mounting a
cable reeling drum and associated equipment in a wing tripper machine, which is
movable on tracks along with the wing tripper machine. The associated arrangement
of cable reeling drum system which is mounted on extended movable platform
provides for winding and unwinding the cable while the wing tripper is in movement
on tracks.
The inventive constructional features of the extended wheel mounted movable
structural platform which is stable and does not affect the stability of the old wing
tripper machine are shown in accompanying Figure 2 and 3. This platform was not
present in the old machine and was created to accommodate the cable reeling
equipment. Also the power supply scheme of the wing tripper was improved which

was earlier based on bus bar and current collector system, to the cable reeling
system as illustrated in accompanying Figure 4.
The extended structural platforms in wing tripper machines is configured to
accommodate a new mounting structure attached to the existing wing tripper which
is movable along with the wing tripper without affecting its stability, and is strong
and rigid enough to carry the load of mounted cable reeling equipment.
Accompanying Figure 5 shows the power supply scheme for wing tripper through
cable reeling drum system according to the present invention. Accompanying Figure
6 shows the front view and top view of the complete wing tripper assembled with the
wheel mounted extended movable platform and cable reeling drum system according
to the present invention.
The improved power supply system for wing tripper is designed so that the power
feeding point is in the middle of the travel length and cable gets laid on both sides of
the mid point on payout and gets winded up in rewind due to bidirectional payout
and rewind capability of the CRD system. The system also comprises of turnover
anchor with bollard arrangement to make the laying of cable possible on both sides
of the midpoint of the total travel of the wing tripper on tracks. The stall torque
motor operated cable reeling drum with gearbox, cable guide arrangement with
tension limit switch, tension relieving anchor with bollard, electrical panel and
resistance box are used for controlled payout and rewind throughout the travel
length of the wing tripper and lay the cable on ground. The cable reeling drum is
capable of bi-directional payout and rewind of the cable and the location of power
tapping point is in the middle of the bay to reduce the cable length on the cable
reeling drum.
It is thus possible by way of the present invention to providing an improved power
supply system for wing tripper involving providing a movable wheel mounted
extended platform attached to the tripper for mounting of cable reeling drum system
and associated equipments and tension relieving arrangement of anchor and bollard
such that proper payout and laying of cable on ground and rewind of the power cable
of the wing trippers is efficiently carried out when the tripper is on motion on track,
thus ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the equipment avoiding loss of
production.
