Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved wheel of vehicle. In particular, it is
related to steel wheel, center of which is fastened to the rim by means of a
connector.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
The wheel is one of the most important part of the vehicle as it is directly
related to the safety of the vehicle and thereby the safety of the passenger.
Hence the life of the wheel is determined by certain durability I endurance tests.
A wheel that has passed the durability I endurance tests shows that it is safe to
be used in the vehicle, which can withstand the load of the vehicle. Ilowever, in
case the wheel fails in the durability test, its load-bearing capacity needs to be
enhanced.
Currently available steel wheel of vehicle comprising of a steel disc or wheel
center with a flange at the periphery assembled in a rolled steel rim, where
both are joined by means of fillet welding as shown in fig. 1.
Again, there is known to have been provided vehicle wheel comprising of a disc
fastened to rim by means of fasteners instead of welding as shown in fig. 2.
The rim is welded with a connector commonly known as Lug (fig. 3) for the
purpose of fastening. The construction of the lug is such that, the Disc can be
mounted on either face of the Lug so as to provide variable track width between
the wheels. These kinds of wheels are generally used for Agricultural Purpose
known as Agricultural Wheels.
The failure in the wheel generally occurs as crack in the welded area. In case of
the Agricultural wheel, the Lug is welded to the rim making it prone to fracture.

Prior findings indicates that, most of cracks in the agricultural wheels arises
from the welded area of the lug, which may be due to shape of the lug.
Hence, the present invention proposes an improved wheel of vehicle so as to
improve the durability performance of the aforementioned wheel, thereby
improving life of the wheel.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved wheel of
vehicle which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved wheel of
vehicle to improve the durability performance of the wheel and thereby
improving the life of the wheel.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an improved wheel of
vehicle which is simple in construction.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The instant invention is directed to an improved wheel of vehicle. The center of
wheel/ disc is fastened to the rim by means of a connector known as
Lug/Bracket integral to the rim.
The present invention comprises provision of a lug with flat basement mounted
on localized flat at the fitment area on the rim, wherein the lug is welded to the
rim. Thus, the disc is mounted on the rim by means of fasteners on a lug
welded to the rim. The rim may be provided with any number of lugs fitted
thereto.

STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved wheel of vehicle
comprising of a disc mounted on rim by fastener on lug/bracket welded to the
rim, wherein a lug with flat basement mounted on localized flat on the rim at
the fitment area.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanymg
drawings and wherein:

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION WITH REFERENCE
TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
The instant invention discloses an improved wheel of vehicle, wherein the
wheel center is fastened to rim of wheel by means of a lug/ bracket. The
lug/bracket is integral to the rim.
For efficient functioning of the wheel, the lug is required. to be seated perfectly
on the rim of wheel. For the same, Radius 'R' of lug (as shown in fig. 4) is
required to be matching with that of the inner radius of the rim (as shown in
fig. 5). However, radius 'R' is difficult to maintain during manufacturing.
The gives rises the need of an alternative so as to address the aforesaid
problem.
Hence, the present invention has been introduced. The present invention
comprises modification of the fitment area of the lug in the rim, thereby
eliminating the provision of the entity 'R' from the lug.
According to this invention, there is provided an improved wheel of vehicle
comprising of a disc detachably attached to rim wherein the disc is mounted on
the rim by a plurality of fasteners on a lug connected to the rim and a flat
fitment part is provided in the rim inner diameter for the lug. The rim may
comprise a plurality of lugs fitted thereto.
Thus, the present invention comprising of modification of the fitmcnt area of
the lug in the rim so that the lug fits into the rim by introducing flat basement
at the fitment portion of the rim.

Both the fitment parts are matched to give the best results after welding. The
flat part in the rim can be maintained as per the varying number of lugs as in
the different wheel variants.
Further, tangentially flattened area of bolting leads to reduction in disc size
In this invention, the lug fitment area is accurately matched with area of the
fitment on the rim. Hence, a localized flat is provided on the rim at the fitment
area i.e. at the inner radius of the rim. Further, the lug is also provided with a
flat basement (fig. 6) for mounting on the localized flat of the rim at the fitment
area. The lug is welded to the rim.
The rim may be formed by roll-forming operation.
In this operation, the raw material i.e., a rectangular p1ece of sheet with
predetermined dimensions is made to roll between different rollers with
different cross section. This finally gives the rim its circular shape.
Both the Fitment area are matched to give the optimum results after welding.
The flat area in the rim can be maintained as per the varying number of Lugs
as in the different wheel variants. In addition to the fitment benefits, there is
an added advantage. Since the area of bolting is tangentially flattened, there
exists a marginal reduction in disc size (fig. 8).

It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims:-

WE CLAIM:
1. An improved wheel of vehicle comprising of a disc mounted on rim by
fastener on lug/bracket welded to the rim, wherein a lug with flat
basement mounted on localized flat on the rim at the fitment area.
2. An improved wheel of vehicle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rim may
be provided with any number of lugs fitted thereto, in which the lug is
integral to the rim.
3. An improved wheel of vehicle as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the
localized flat is provided on the rim at the inner radius of the rim.
4. 1\n improved wheel of vehicle as claimed in any of the preceding claims,
wherein the flat area in the rim is maintained according to the varying
number of lugs as in the different wheel variants.
5. An improved wheel of vehicle as claimed in any of the preceding claims,
wherein area of bolting in lug is tangentially flattened, which leads to
reduction in disc size (fig. 8).
6. An improved wheel of vehicle substantially as herein described with
reference to the accompanying drawings.
