DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[014] A vehicle display unit being used in two-wheeled or three wheeled vehicles are getting advanced with a greater number of connected features. Majorly the advancements are targeted towards improving the user experience by means of integrating information from multiple devices to one unit and being aligned to give easier access of information to the user.
[015] However, the user cannot concentrate on information from multiple devices especially while he is riding. For example, in a two-wheeled vehicle, the user has very less time to focus at any information while riding due to small screen size of an instrument cluster. Further, the instrument cluster is located below at an angular profile from the line of sight of the user. This causes the user to divide his attention between the road and the instrument cluster which leads to poor driving capability.
[016] In a conventional saddle type vehicle, important vehicle diagnostic and non-diagnostic information is displayed on a vehicle display unit like the instrument cluster of the vehicle. The instrument cluster is located at a downward direction from a line of sight of a user. This often leads to diversion of focus of the user between the road and the instrument cluster to know the vehicle information and thereby threatens the safety of the user. Hence, an improved vehicle display system which displays all the vehicle information is required.
[017] Most of the time, critical vehicle information like safety features of the vehicle is not immediately noticed by the user, since he is busy focusing on driving the vehicle on road. Further, many critical vehicle information on the vehicle display unit is frequently visited by the user but some critical information requires immediate attention from the user where the vehicle display unit fails to draw the attention of the user. In such circumstances, the focus of the user is diverted which can lead to accidents. Hence, an improved vehicle display system which efficiently displays all the critical vehicle information instantly to the user is required.
[018] Furthermore, to access any data related to personal devices like call message or navigation information, the user has to make an additional effort to take out the phone and access the phone to get the desired data which makes him lose focus and attention while driving the vehicle and thereby affect the safety of the user.
[019] In order to resolve the problem of loss of critical vehicle information, conventionally a heads-up display unit is used conventionally which comprises of a projector and a plurality of sensors to display the critical and other vehicle information on the heads-up display unit being aligned for direct visibility of information to the user.
[020] Hence, the conventional heads up display unit is not aligned to the user’s vision whenever the user is turning one’s head. This further leads to a parallax error to the read the information out from the vehicle mounted heads-up display unit by the user. Hence, an improved design of the heads-up display unit is required which is aligned to the user’s vision.
[021] Additionally, in the conventional design the heads-up display unit is unable to bifurcate between critical information and non-critical information and thereby displays all the information on the heads-up display unit altogether. This leads to confusion to the user and thereby decreases the ability of the user to comprehend the important information. Hence, an improved design of the heads-up display unit which determines the critical information and also determines the specific areas in which such information has to be displayed is required.
[022] In some conventional designs, the heads-up display unit is further incapable of receiving a user input during ongoing display of one or more information of the heads-up display unit. Thus, the user is unable to access some information which is important to be displayed to at that instant. For example, the conventional heads up display unit is displaying the fuel level in the vehicle, however, the user wants to display the navigation map in order to find a shortest route. Thus, the heads-up display unit does not allow the user to change the display information at that instant which hampers the user interaction capability with the vehicle and also frustrates the user while driving the vehicle.
[023] In a related art, a virtual image projection by means of three architectural elements such as an auxiliary display device, an optical imaging device and a reflective surface is disclosed. Here the optical imaging device guides the image received from the auxiliary display unit before reflecting back to the reflective surface. However, the optical imaging device has added architectural component which increases the size & cost of the entire vehicle. Hence, a cost effective and simple display system is required for faster and better resolution image display.
[024] In a related art, a heads-up display heads up display unit comprising multiples lens to project an image to a pupil of the user. This design of the heads-up display unit provides an amplified size of the image for easier visibility of the user. However, use of multiple lens leads to the amplification of the light leakage though lens. Hence, an improved design which allows the user to view the information on the heads-up display unit at an optimum size and at an optimum location is desired.
[025] In another related art, a method of heads-up display solution is discussed where the road position is detected using sensors before displaying the information of the road data virtually on the heads-up display unit. However, the method does not comprise a means to determine the vehicle speed which makes determination of the road condition redundant as the speed at which the vehicle is running determines the actual environmental condition around the vehicle and therefore it aids in display of appropriate information on the heads up display unit without reducing the quality of the information that is being displayed on the heads up display unit.
[026] In another related art, the issue of user’s vision being nonaligned to the information being displayed on the heads-up display unit is overcome through an eye tracker which is placed as part of the heads-up display unit to place the content aligned to the vision of the user. Although the eye tracker is present as part of the heads-up display unit, however, the assessment of the scene in the environment and the vehicle state at its running or stationary condition is not determined before projection of the information content to the user.
[027] Hence, it is an object of the present invention to overcome all the above stated and other related problems existing in the prior arts, with respect to optimal localization and accessibility of critical information aligned to the user’s vision in a heads-up display unit as well as other problems of known art.
[028] It is further an object of the present invention to reduce discomfort of the user in accessing the high priority information.
[029] It is further an object of the present invention to minimize discomfort in viewing the vehicle display unit for receiving the critical vehicle information which involves frequent neck and eye movement.
[030] It is further an object of the present invention to provide a higher pull off time while driving/riding a vehicle to infer critical information like navigation details based on user’s preferences.
[031] It is further an object of the present invention to reduce misalignment issues to view the information in line of sight when the user is moving his/her head.

[058] After assessing the priority of the one or more display request, the display processing unit (128) decides a placement of the one or more display request on the heads-up display unit (132). The placement of the one or more display request is dependent on one or more zones (204a) being created virtually aligned to the line of sight of the user. The one or more zones (204a) are bifurcated as A, B, C, D, E and F as shown in Figure-3. Depending upon the priority of the one or more display request, the one or more display request is viewed on the one or more zones (204a) with numerous display settings such as different font size, different colors, different font style. Furthermore, depending upon the priority of the one or more display request, the projection of the one or more display request is provided on different background such as a road, a tree, a building or any other solid surface.
[059] In step (206), the assessment of the environment is done before displaying the one or more display request and the user input request on the heads-up display unit (132). The assessment of the environment is done by the display processing unit (128) based on color, saturation, brightness level and shadow level of the environmental conditions. The assessment of the environment is further dependent on the time of the day or night. The levels of color parameters are further divided as most filled primary colour to least filled primary colour. The levels of saturation parameters are further divided as High saturation to low saturation of surrounding environmental conditions. The levels of brightness parameters are further divided as brighter to less bright. The levels of shadow parameters are further divided as more shadow to no shadow.
[060] After the assessment of the environment as shown in step (206), the display processing unit (128) determines the changes in display settings of the one or more display request and manipulates the one or more display request accordingly. Further, the display processing unit (128) displays the one or more display request after the processing done in steps (202) to (208) on the heads-up display unit (132) as shown in step (210).
[061] Figure 4 illustrates a flowchart depicting a method for displaying the one or more display request based on priority, in accordance with an embodiment of the present subject matter.
