1. An information recorder to record information to a recording medium, the apparatus comprising:- receiving means (120, 130, 140) for receiving a key set formed by encrypting an upper-level node key in a selected path in a tree by a lower-level node key in the selected path in the key tree, the key tree including leaves, a root and nodes existing in the paths from each of the leaves to the root, each of the leaves being assigned to a device;- storing means (160, 170, 180) for storing a leaf key assigned to the information recorder and the key set received by the receiving means;- cryptography means (150) for generating an encryption key generating data renewable with at least either the node key or leaf key and encrypting the information by the encryption key;- a recording medium (190) coupled to said receiving and storing means for recording digital data; and- a processing means(300)for controlling the recording of data.
