Specification

This invention relates to an LPG (liquid petroleum gas) fuel cylinder assembly for a motor vehicle, such as, a motorcycle, a scooter, a three-wheeler or a four-wheeler type motor vehicle.

Conventionally, when the LPG fuel tank is to be refilled this is done through a hose connecting the filler valve to the fuel inlet valve of the said tank in the gas cylinder. This operation is, in practice, cumbersome in view of the long hose provided for the purpose, which spans the distance between the filler valve to the inlet valve in the tank. The refilling operation is thus rendered tedious.

An object of this invention, therefore, is to eliminate the foregoing drawback and render the refilling operation easier.

Reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which illustrate in
Figs. 1 to 3 the conventional LPG cylinder of a motor vehicle And

Figs. 4 and 5 an embodiment of this invention.

In a vehicle that is run on LPG as fuel, the LPG is usually stored in the LPG cylinder 4 assembled on to the vehicle, either by being bolted or clamped at 6. When the LPG fuel tank needs refilling, the fuel is filled through a filler valve 2 connected by a tube 3 to a fuel inlet valve 5 on the cylinder. The tube 3 is usually either a copper tube or a flexible synthetic hose. The filler valve 2 is assembled on the vehicle body 7 by a welded bracket 1.

This invention therefore proposes an LPG fuel cylinder assembly wherein filling of the LPG is done through filler valve 2 mounted on a filler bracket 8. The filler bracket 8 is welded or otherwise attached, for instance, by bolting, to the LPG cylinder body 4 in proximity to the fuel inlet valve 5..

The salient benefit of this invention is that as the filler valve 2 is assembled directly on to the cylinder 4 the length of the hose 3 connecting the filler valve 2 to the fuel inlet valve 5 of the cylinder 4 is substantially reduced.

As a result of this invention, there is also ease in routing of the hose 3 connecting the filler valve 2 to the inlet valve 5 of cylinder 4.

It will be appreciated that various other embodiments of this invention are possible without departing from its scope and ambit.

We Claim:

1. An LPG fuel cylinder assembly for a motor vehicle comprising a fuel inlet valve provided on the LPG cylinder body; a fuel filler valve and a hose connecting the said filler valve to the said inlet valve, characterized by a bracket attached to the cylinder body in proximity to the said inlet valve, the said filler valve being mounted on the said bracket.

2. An LPG fuel cylinder assembly as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the said bracket is attached to the cylinder body by welding.

3. An LPG fuel cylinder assembly as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the said bracket is attached to the cylinder body by bolting.

4. An LPG fuel cylinder assembly for a motor vehicle substantially as herein described with reference to, and as illustrated in, the accompanying drawings.
