Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention relates to an novel ice tray for refrigerator.

BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION

Ice tray is available in the refrigerator for making ice, in which heat is transferred from water in ice tray to ice tray itself. Subsequently, heat is transferred from the ice tray to cold air. This makes water colder and consequently ice is formed.

Heat transfer is a phenomenon in which Heat is transferred from a source at higher temperature to a source at lower temperature through various modes e.g., surfaces in contact. More the surface area in contact between two sources, faster the heat transfer between two sources.

However, ice making time using conventional tray (as shown in fig. 1) is in the range of 130-200 minutes (FF Refrigerator), which is quite higher when ice is required urgently at home.

The ice making time is more due to unavailability of following provisions in the ice tray:-

No means for better heat transfer from water in ice tray leading to more ice making time.

- No provision of ice block core shift resulting in more time for freezing of ice cube core.

- No provision of air opening at bottom and top side of ice tray. This takes more time for heat transfer from water in ice tray and hence more time for ice making.

Thus, the existing ice tray is associated with the following drawbacks:-

- Less heat transfer from water in Ice tray leads to more time for making ice.

- More time for freezing of Ice cube core.

- More time for heat transfer from water in Ice tray, hence more ice making time.

- No provision of air outlet for air flow towards bottom and top of tray.

Hence, it is required to develop a novel ice tray, which can address the aforesaid drawbacks.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

The primary object of the present invention is to provide an novel ice tray for refrigerator which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.

Another object of the present invention is to provide an novel ice tray for refrigerator which is efficient.

Further object of the present invention is to provide an novel ice tray for refrigerator which consumes less time for making ice and for freezing of ice cube core.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an novel ice tray for refrigerator in which heat transfer from water in ice tray takes place in less time, which leads to less ice making time.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an novel ice tray for refrigerator which improves heat transfer rate from water in ice tray.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention discloses an novel ice tray for refrigerator comprising of an ice tray with concave surface having a plurality of fins at bottom surface for better heat transfer and a plurality of outlets on grill fan for directing air flow towards bottom and top surface of the ice tray.

The ice making time is reduced in the present invention due to following provisions: -

- Improvement in air flow at bottom and top surface of ice tray.

- Change in geometry of ice tray.

- Provision of fins at bottom surface of tray for better heat transfer.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein:

Fig. 1 shows: conventional ice tray.

Fig. 2 shows: ice tray of present invention with concave bottom surface.

Fig. 3 shows: ice tray of present invention (fig. 2) with fins at the bottom surface.

Fig. 4 shows: grill fan with a plurality of air flow outlets according to present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

The present invention discloses an novel ice tray for refrigerator. Now, reference may be made to fig. 2 and 3, wherein the novel ice tray comprising of an ice tray (1) having concave surface (2) with a plurality of fins (3) at its bottom surface for better heat transfer from water in the tray.

Further, a plurality of outlets (4) (as shown in fig. 4) are provided on grill fan for directing air flow towards bottom and top surface of the ice tray.

Thus, geometry of ice tray changes by provision of depression at bottom surface of ice tray. Further, addition of fins at bottom surface results in heat transfer from water of ice tray efficiently and effectively.

So that, water can be converted into ice in lesser time than that in prior art.

Further, provision of air flow outlets (4) on grill fan at suitable location causes air flow towards top and bottom surface of ice tray. The increased air flow turbulence at bottom and top surface of the ice tray leads to more heat transfer, thereby reducing ice making time considerably.

The above provisions of concave surface with fins at the bottom surface results in more heat transfer from water in ice tray, which leads to less consumption of time for making ice. Further, it requires less time for freezing of ice cube core.

The ice tray of present invention is made of material such as plastic polymer, Silicon, HDPE (moldable polymers), Aluminium.

Further, it can be manufactured by the method of injection molding.

The materials and methods are given as example. Thus, other materials and methods readily apparent to a person skilled in the art are understood to be within the perview of the invention.

In the present invention with fins Ice Making time in Domestic Refrigerators is lowered from 3 digits when measured in Minutes (130 minutes in tested case) to 2 digits (approx. 85 min.).

Reduction in ice making time in FF refrigerators is approximately 35% as compared to the conventional ice tray.

It is to be noted the present invenytion is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scopte of the present invention, which is furthers set forth under the following claims,

WE CLAIM:-

1. An novel ice tray for refrigerator comprising of an ice tray with concave surface having a plurality of fins at bottom surface for better heat transfer and a plurality of outlets on grill fan for directing air flow towards bottom and top surface of the ice tray.

2. An novel ice tray as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fins are provided on the concave bottom surface of the tray

3. An novel ice tray as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein provision of concave surface with fins at bottom surface results in more heat transfer from water in ice tray, which leads to less consumption of time for making ice and requires less time for freezing of ice cube core.

4. An novel ice tray as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein said provision of air flow outlets causes increased air flow turbulence at bottom and top surface of ice tray for more heat transfer, which results in consumption of less time for making ice.

5. An novel ice tray as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the ice making time is reduced by approximately 35%.

6. An novel ice tray as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein the tray is made of material such as plastic polymer, Silicon, HDPE (moldable polymers), Aluminium.

7. An novel ice tray for refrigerator substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
