Abstract: The present invention is related to an optimization of a double bus hybrid Gas insulated Switchgear (HGIS) bay (100) configuration which comprises a horizontally/ vertically mounted gas circuit breaker [01] with bus multi-module [12] housing located on one end of a high voltage terminal and a feeder multi-module [25] housing located on another end of the high voltage terminal. A feeder multi-module [25] is configured by connecting a disconnector cum maintenance earthing switch [02], a fast acting earthing switch [04], a potential transformer [06], a terminal equipment [07] to a gas-to-air bushing [09], a gas-to-oil bushing [10], a gas-to-cable bushing [08] and a gas insulted bus duct [11]. A bus multi-module [12] is configured by integrating a BUS I Disconnector switch [26], a BUS II disconnector switch [13], and a maintenance earthing switch [02] to the high voltage terminal of horizontal gas circuit breaker [01]. A first bus (BUS I) [32] is configured by positioning an angled enclosure [27, 28] and a gas-to-air bushing [09] right away from BUS- I disconnector switch [26]. A second bus (BUS II) [33] is configured by positioning a gas insulated bus duct [11] of specified length depending on rated voltage of HGIS (100), angled enclosure [27,28] and gas-to-air bushing [09] through BUS- II disconnector switch [13]. The angled enclosure [27, 28] is symmetrical for extreme end phases and for middle phase either multi-angled or single angled enclosure provides necessary bus configuration.
