3 PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
COMPLETE
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an oven identification system and Cross battery Interlocking in coke making facility using wireless communications. More particularly, the present invention is directed to providing an oven identification system adapted to ensure identification of oven alignment and positioning of guide and pusher car machines located on opposite sides of a coke battery and transferring this data electronically between the two machines for cross battery interlocking. Guide car identifies the oven and transfers these signals to the pusher car. Pusher car matches these signals with its own Oven number and gives the ready signal to the pusher car operator for pushing of coke. Pusher and guide car oven alignments are displayed in both the cars for operator interface. The oven identification system of the invention thus ensure pushing/transferring of hot coke discharged from battery for next stage operation like quenching etc. in safe and reliable manner without needing any manual alignment. The system of the invention is a low cost option for reliable and faster operation free of damage or downtime of equipments, including facilitating auto scheduling in coke oven battery operation in large integrated steel plants.
BACKGROUND ART
It is well known that coke making from coal is a regular requirement in steel plants. This conversion is carried out in coke oven plant. The coke making process involves, charging of the coal/coal cake into oven for carbonisation of the cake in the coke-oven at a temperature of 1000 to 1100°C for a certain duration. After the coking, the coke formed is pushed into a coke guide car with the help of a pusher installed in a pusher car. The hot coke in the coke car is then quenched with water,
In a coke oven plant, several ovens are constructed side by side called as a battery. Each oven has doors locked on the front and back side of the oven. The coke battery has four machines, Charging car, Pusher car, guide car and quenching machine. Ail of the machines are mobile and travel the length of the battery on tracks. Each machine is powered by 440 VAC electrical "hot" rails. The Pusher and charging machines are located on the front side of the battery, called the Pusher side. The

guide and quenching machines are located on the opposite side of the battery from the Pusher, called the Coke side.
The coke guide car is aligned with the face of the oven to guide the coke as it is pushed from the oven by the pusher car into the Quench Car. The Quench Car transports the coke to a quenching station for further processing. The Pusher is equipped with a door extractor and frame and door cleaners similar to those on the guide machine. In addition, the Pusher has a ram that "pushes" the coke out of the oven and into the Quench Car through guide.
In conventional practice, pushing car, guide car are aligned to the same oven as that of the pusher which is ensured with electrical interlocking facility through hot rail(Fourth) along with verbal communication. While pushing the coke the guide car and pusher has to be aligned with the oven properly, else the pushing will be mismatched and may lead to either pusher hitting and damaging the oven wall or hot coke spilling over the floor causing accidental injury.
The existing system exhibited following deficiencies:
(i) There is no provision to check the alignment of guide car as it is invisble to pusher operator on other side of the oven.
(ii) The system has mobile machines which travel along the length of the battery, making the cable solution is impractical and "hot" rail communications unreliable in this type of environment.
(iii) Frequent wrong alignments takes place leading to major breakdowns of pusher car, guide car and allied equipments.
(iv) These break downs lead to heavy production losses due to unavailability of the equipment and blockage of quenching car track.
(v) Spillages due to mismatch in alignment causes personnel injury and hazardus environment which is not maintanenance friendly.
There has been therefore a need in the art to developing a system of oven identification which would enable proper alignment of pusher car and the guide car

with battery/oven for discharging of hot coke for quenching in a reliable manner without needing any manual alignment and eliminating chances of misalignment and consequent damage of equipments or spillage of hot coke on floor.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The basic object of the present invention is thus directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens adapted to identify the oven alignment and positioning of guide and pusher car machines of a coke battery and transferring this data electronically between the two machines for cross battery interlocking so that the coke is discharged from oven in a safe and reliable manner avoiding equipment damage or spillage of hot coke.
Another object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens wherein signals relating to positioning and oven alignment are communicated between the pusher car and the guide car by wireless communication with required operator's interface.
A further object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens which would avoid need for the human intervention to the equipments which is prone to error.
A still further object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens adapted to avoid wrong pushing due to error in manual alignments completely.
A still further object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens adapted to reduce the equipment damage and break down time to thereby improving productivity of coke ovens.
A still further object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens adapted to ensure safety of the persona! and machine during operation.

A still further object of the present invention is directed to an oven identification system for coke ovens adapted to facilitate recording time required for pushing the oven for auto scheduling for future option.

Figure 2: is the flow process chart showing the scheme of events in sequence to align the pusher car and the guide car with oven on opposite sides of it for pushing coke to quenching car/machine through guide car.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING FIGURES
The present invention is directed to a system for oven identification and cross battery Interlocking in coke making facility using wireless communications in order to identify the oven alignment and positioning of guide car and pusher car machines of a coke battery and transferring this data electronically between the two machines for cross battery interlocking. The innovation developed is novel and is different from other oven identification systems which are controlled using Radio Frequency Tags which are not cost effective.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, pusher and guide machines on the battery are equipped with a Siemens PLC, HMI. Wireless device is fixed in pusher machine and guide machine, for establishing communication between guide and pusher machine's PLC. Guide car identifies the oven and transfers these signals to the pusher car. Pusher car matches these signals with its own Oven number and gives the ready signal to the pusher car operator for pushing of coke. Pusher and guide car oven alignments are displayed in both the cars for operator interface. Thus the oven identification system of the invention favour cross battery interlocking of the guide car and pusher car so that the pushing of coke can be carried out in a safe and reliable manner without the chance of any misalignment or spillage of coke on floor. The time required for pushing the oven can also be recorded by the system enabling auto scheduling of operations.

Oven identification system and Cross battery Interlocking in coke making facility using wireless communications has the following advantages:
(i) Avoids wrong pushing due to error in manual alignments completely.
(ii) Reduced the equipment damage and break down time.
(iii) Safety of the personal and machine is ensured.
(iv) The new system also helps in recording time required for pushing the oven for auto scheduling.
(vi)The new system developed has a working principle different from others and cost effective. It costs about 15-20% of other existing systems.
Reference is now invited to the accompanying Figure 1 that illustrates the block diagram showing the hardware deployment in the pusher car (pusher side) as well as in the guide car(Coke side) comprising Tags, Sensors, Wireless devices, PLC and HMI, wherein communication of signals between the wireless devices is established for required alignment between the equipments in relation to battery.
Reference is next invited to the accompanying Figure 2 that illustrates the sequential steps for implementation of signal generation and receiving between the guide car and pusher car for alignment with respect to battery/oven number and effecting pushing action of coke to the coke car through the guide machine.
It is thus possible by way of the present invention to providing a oven identification system and crossbattery interlocking in coke oven adapted to ensure alignment of guide car and the pusher car with an oven, traveling on track on opposite sides of coke oven battery, so that the coke is pushed through guide car to the coke quenching machine in a safe and reliable manner avoiding any damage due to misalignment and consequent down time of plant. The system further provide an

operators interface for receiving ready signal after matching of guide car and pusher car for any oven number for commanding ram pushing action by operator. Thus the system of the invention enable alignment of guide car and pusher car in much reliable manner without need for any manual interference for alignment/matching thus eliminating the possibility of any damage of equipment or spillage of hot coke causing operational hazard. The system thus ensure uninterrupted faster operation of coke oven battery plant improving productivity.
