Description:
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to semi-automatic doffing machine for ring spinning machine. Particularly, the present invention relates to empty cops pressing mechanism for the screw rod type semi-automatic doffing machine.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine is used in ring spinning machine to replenish the completely wound packages called ring cops with empty cops or ring tubes in the textile spinning industry. The semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine is made moving along the ring frame through suitable railing arrangement which is provided at bottom of the ring frame. The semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine does two functions independently called doffing and feeding of the cops.

Doffing unit mainly consists of two screw rod mechanism for X, Y and Z direction movement to unload the fully cops from the ring spinning. These rolling elements are fixed on a moving platform which will be engaged against the completely wound cops during doffing. As the gripper forcefully engaged with fully wound cops, it starts pull during semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine movement and lifts the tightly held cop on the spindle. The lifted cops are immediately lift by the screw rod mechanism which is controlled by the servo motor on the move and it completely takes out from the spindles. Finally, these cops were dropped into the collection basket which is kept underneath of the machine. Pulling force is available in the moving semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine to cut the tail ends of doffed cops without using any cutters.

The delivery chute consists of a crate or box placed on the top of the semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine to carry empty cops or ring tubes and these tubes are positioned exactly above the spindles with the help of a special feeding mechanism controlled by motor. Subsequently the cop or ring tubes are being laid on to the spindles during semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine movement. But these empty cop or ring tubes are not pressed down to make tight fit with the spindles due to the spring ball lock is provided in the spindle. Therefore, the special effort is required to press these empty cops downward and to ensure the proper tight fit after every doffing. In addition to that the manual pressing consumes significant amount of time during total doffing time.

Thus, there is need to provide an effective mechanism where the cops will be pressed automatically instead of manual interference.

According to one embodiment of present invention there is provided a semi-automated doffing machine to replenish completely wound cops or ring cops with empty ring cops over a row of tapered spindles in textile spinning machine, comprising an automated angular and linear cam actuated pressing mechanism to press the previously laid empty cops downward to make tight fit with tapered spindles of said spinning machine; wherein said automated angular and linear cam actuated pressing mechanism comprises a freely mounted linear guide way connected with a spring loaded safety protection system using a guide rod and cam arrangement; characterized in that said freely mounted linear guide way comprises a pair of freely actuated and substantially linear cops pressing plates and said cam arrangement comprises an angularly mounted cam actuating plate having an angular movement to smoothly press down said empty cops and ensures the tight fit with spindles.

Figure 1 shows semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine (8) is used in ring spinning machine to replenish the completely wound cops /ring tubes with empty cop or ring tubes in the textile spinning industry. The semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine moves along the ring frame through suitable railing arrangement. The semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine has two functions independently called doffing (wound cops) and feeding (empty cops).

Doffing unit mainly consists of three screw rod mechanism (5) and upper movement arm (3) freely fixed in different plane along as illustrated in figure 1. These elements are fixed on a moving platform which will be engaged with a gripper assembly (4). As the gripper assembly (4) with arm movement (3) forcefully pick the cops, it starts moving upward during doffing machine movement and lifts the tightly held cop on the ring frame’s spindle. The lifted wound cops are immediately taken out from the spindles and then these cops were dropped from the gripper (4) using the control of air and are collected in a box (7) which is kept underneath. In the moving semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine to cut the tail ends of doffed cops through the under cutter which is provided at bottom of the spindle.

A delivery feeding unit consists of a crate placed on the top of the semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine to carry ring tubes and these tubes are positioned exactly above the spindles with the help of a special feeding arrangement (2). Subsequently the cops / ring tubes are being laid on to the spindles during doffing machine movement. But these ring tubes are not pressed down to make tight fit with cops. Therefore, human effort is required to press these cops downward and to ensure the proper tight fit after every doffing. In addition to that the manual pressing consumes significant amount of time during doffing.

According to the invention an automated angular and linear cam actuated pressing mechanism (1) has been developed to press the previously laid empty cops downward to make tight fit with tapered spindles through spring ball lock. This mechanism reduces total doffing time and manual intervention. The newly developed angular and linear cam actuated pressing mechanism consists of a freely mounted linear guide way (17) connected with a spring (10) loaded safety protection system using guide rod and cam arrangement (16). As the semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine moves, the angularly mounted feeding cam shown in figure 3, smoothly presses down the cops (2) and ensures the tight fit with spindles.

In case, either the empty cop (2) is not laid properly on the spindle or the fully wound bobbin is not taken away from the spindle, the cops will remain in raised position on the top of the spindle. This will hit the pressing plate (11) and it leads to damage the cops during doffing machine movement. In order to eliminate such accidents, the pressing plate (11,12) is fixed with a spring (10) loaded releasing mechanism using a guide plate (14) which enables the pressing plates to swing back when there is a hindrance as shown in figure 4 and 5. The spring (16) will be under compression state when the pressing plate (15) moves away from the home position. Once the semi-automatic screw rod type doffing machine moves to next spindle, the pressing plate returns to its original position due to the spring force and starts pressing the empty cops (2).

The automated angular and linear cam actuated pressing mechanism has the following advantages,
 eliminates the manual effort required to press the empty cops / ring tube to make tight fit with spindles.
 reduces significant amount of total doffing time.
 simple and easy to maintain mechanism.
 It ensures gentle and smooth pressing of cops without any damages.
 It has inbuilt protection system to safeguard the mechanism.

In view of the present disclosure, which describes the present invention, all changes, modification and variation within the meaning and range of equivalency are considered within the scope and spirit of the invention.
