DESC:Field of the invention
The present invention relates to an animal feed supplement and more particularly, to a composition of the animal feed supplement and a process for preparation thereof.
Background of the invention
Lecithin is utilized in a wide variety of food and industrial applications. Today, majority of the lecithin used in food applications is derived from soybeans. De-oiled soya lecithin consists of three types of phospholipids namely phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphotidylinositol. Phospholipids are naturally available complex that helps a living animal in multiple ways. Egg yolk also contains phospholipids. The phosphatidylcholine acts as a natural emulsifier for consumed oils and fats that makes the fat easily miscible in water and absorption in cell is very easy. The phosphatidylinositol enhances the nervous system and the phosphatidylethanolamine is a useful component for growth promotion.
As on today, the de-oiled soya lecithin or liquid soya lecithin is used in animal feed manufacturing as it is but due to water loving nature, the shelf life of the soya lecithin is very less, hence storage is a big problem. Also, soya lecithin is not user friendly because of its viscosity as well as high stickiness.
Accordingly, there is a need to provide an animal feed supplement composition having more shelf life and a process of preparation thereof which overcomes the above mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
Object of the invention
An object of the present invention is to provide a stable animal feed supplement composition having an increased shelf life.
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides an animal feed supplement composition 1 and 2 having more shelf life.
The animal feed supplement composition 1 (hereinafter “the composition 1”) comprises soya bean lecithin powder in a range of 10% by weight to 12% by weight. Further, the composition 1 comprises vegetable oil in a range of 88 % by weight to 90 % by weight. The vegetable oil is selected from any one of palm base oil and vegetable fat powder.
The animal feed supplement composition 2 (hereinafter “the composition 2”) comprises soya bean lecithin powder in a range of 10 % by weight to 12 % by weight. Further, the composition 2 comprises vegetable oil in a range of 85 % by weight to 88 % by weight. The vegetable oil is selected from any one of palm base oil and vegetable fat powder. Furthermore, the composition 2 comprises medium chain triglyceride oil in a range of 2 % by weight to 3 % by weight.
The compositions 1 and 2 are administered to the animals in a solid dosage form, for example prills.
In another aspect, the present invention provides a process for preparation of the animal feed supplement compositions 1 and 2 having more shelf life.
Brief description of the drawings
Figure 1 shows a flowchart of a process for preparation of an animal feed supplement composition 1, in accordance with the present invention; and
Figure 2 shows a flowchart of a process for preparation of an animal feed supplement composition 2, in accordance with the present invention.
Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides an animal feed supplement composition. The animal feed supplement composition is a stable composition having an increased shelf life. The present invention provides the stable animal feed supplement compositions 1 and 2.
The present invention is illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, throughout which reference numbers indicate corresponding parts in the various figures. These reference numbers are shown in bracket in the following description.
In the context of the present invention, an animal feed supplement composition 1 (hereinafter “the composition 1”) comprises soya bean lecithin powder in a range of 10% by weight to 12% by weight. In an embodiment, the soya bean lecithin powder is obtained from de oiled soya lecithin. Further, the composition 1 comprises vegetable oil in a range of 88 % by weight to 90 % by weight. The vegetable oil is selected from any one of palm base oil and vegetable fat powder.
The composition 1 is administered to the animals in a solid dosage form, for example prills having 700 mesh size. However, it is understood that different dosage forms may be prepared in other alternative embodiments of the composition 1.
In an embodiment, the composition 1 is prepared by a process (100) as illustrated in figure 1. The process (100) starts at step (10).
At step (20), the process (100) involves melting the vegetable oil and maintaining at a temperature in a range of 65-720 C for two hours.
At step (30), the process (100) involves adding soya lecithin powder to the molten vegetable oil to form a mass/mixture.
At step (40), the process (100) involves agitating and emulsifying the mixture at a temperature in a range of about 65 -720 C for about 25 minutes.
At step (50), the process (100) involves cooling the mixture using a spray cooling tower (not shown). The mixture is then transformed into prills. The formed prills are again cooled to a room temperature. In an embodiment, the prills are of 700 mesh size having enhanced shelf life. However, it is understood that the prills of different mesh size can be prepared in other alternative embodiments of the process (100). The process (100) ends at step (60).
In the context of the present invention, the animal feed composition 2 (hereinafter “the composition 2”) comprises soya bean lecithin powder in a range of 10 % by weight to 12 % by weight. In an embodiment, the soya bean lecithin powder is obtained from de oiled soya lecithin. Further, the composition 2 comprises vegetable oil in a range of 85 % by weight to 88 % by weight. The vegetable oil is selected from any one of palm base oil and vegetable fat powder. Furthermore, the composition 2 comprises medium chain triglyceride (hereinafter “MCT”) oil in a range of 2 % by weight to 3 % by weight.
The composition 2 is administered to the animals in a solid dosage form, for example prills having 700 mesh size. However, it is understood that different dosage forms may be prepared in other alternative embodiments of the composition 2.
In an embodiment, the composition 2 is prepared by a process (200) as illustrated in figure 1. The process (200) starts at step (110).
At step (120), the process (200) involves melting the vegetable oil and maintaining at a temperature in a range of 65-720 C for about 1 hour 45 min to 2 hours.
At step (130), the process (200) involves adding the MCT oil to the soya lecithin powder and mixing properly for about 10 minutes at room temperature to form a mass.
At step (140), the process (200) involves adding the mass of MCT oil and soya lecithin powder to the molten vegetable oil to form a mixture.
At step (150), the process (200) involves agitating and emulsifying the mixture at a temperature in a range of about 65-720 C for about 25 minutes.
At step (160), the process (200) involves cooling the mixture using a spray cooling tower (not shown). Then, the mixture is transformed into prills. The formed prills are again cooled to room temperature. In an embodiment, the prills are of 700 mesh size having enhanced shelf life. However, it is understood that the prills of different mesh size can be prepared in other alternative embodiments of the process (200). The process (200) ends at step (170).
Advantages of the invention
1. The compositions 1 and 2 provide more energy to the animals and promote growth.
