Specification

[001] The present invention relates generally to key cylinder of a flap type handle of a car. More particularly, the present invention relates to an anti-theft casing for key cylinder of a flap type handle of a car.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Generally, a door of an automotive vehicle (hereinafter referred to as door) is mounted with a door latch for locking and unlocking the door and a Striker is also disposed at a pillar of the body of the vehicle so as to be joined to the door latch.
[003] The door latch assembly includes a door latch so disposed as to be exposed to a facing side of door hinge in a door comprising an inner panel and an outer panel, a door latch cover for encompassing the door latch, an outer handle connected to a rod for actuating the door latch, and a door lock actuator connected to the rod for restricting/releasing the actuation of the door latch and encompassed by a door lock actuator cover.
[004] Many car door locks when used in conjunction with certain door handle assemblies, can be manipulated from a door-locked position to a door-unlocked position. This unwanted tampering can be accomplished by inserting a tool through holes which

accommodate the exterior portions of the door handle assembly. After insertion, the tool is manipulated to move a lever operating arm attached to the car door lock cylinder.
[005] For the purpose of break open and stealing the car, an ill-intentioned person, after having discarded the liner, inserts a tool, such as a chisel or a large screwdriver, at the base of the glass, to access lock in order to break the latter to break the connection between the door latch and the door lock. Then, the ill-intentioned person, using a tool, such as an angled screwdriver, can rotate the lock string around itself to disengage the bolt from its keeper and, therefore, open the door.
[006] FR3058438A1 discloses a tubular sleeve surrounding the lock train and a support base of the tubular sleeve fixed by elastic casing to the stirrup. However, this particular invention belongs to the automobile doors which have a grab type handle of the car wherein the locking mechanism is different from that of a flap type door handle. Further, the solution provided in this cannot be implemented in the flap type door handles.
[007] Presently, in vehicles, key cylinders are used for locking and unlocking of the vehicles. These key cylinders are generally connected to latch by means of key rod as shown in figure. So, when the user rotates the key in key cylinder for opening, the key rod moves in downward direction and in turn operates the latch.

[008] The key lock is connected with the latch of the lock via a snap which rotates when the lever of the key lock is rotated to lock-unlock the lock of the door.
[009] Key cylinder is having a lever and a snap which in turn is connected to rod as shown in Fig. 2. Generally, for theft, person removes the w/strip outer or a liner . On removing, gap is created between glass and outer panel. Through this gap person can access the key cylinder lever and snap area, which when pushed downward by means of scale or any other object can operate the latch and in turn unlock the vehicle.
[0010] Hence, there is a need for an anti-theft solution through which the key cylinder is secured and cannot be tempered with.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0011] The principal objective of the present invention is to provide an anti-theft casing for key cylinder.
[0012] Another object of the present invention is to provide an anti-theft casing for key cylinder which is covered from three sides.
[0013] Another object of the present subject matter is to provide a simple, cost effective, and efficiently designed an anti-theft

casing for key cylinder that is distinct from all conventional designs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0014] The present invention relates to an anti-theft casing for key cylinder. The anti-theft casing comprises of a base which defines a void for the fitment of the key cylinder and a flange extending from the base to cover the key cylinder encompassed in the void.
[0015] In order to further understand the characteristics and technical contents of the present subject matter, a description relating thereto will be made with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the drawings are illustrative only but not used to limit scope of the present subject matter.
BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
[0016] The above brief description, as well as further objects, features and advantages, of the present invention can be fully appreciated by reference to the following detailed description. These features of the present invention will become more apparent upon reference to the drawings, wherein:
[0017] Fig. 1: Key cylinder and door handle assembly
[0018] Fig. 2: Key cylinder assembly
[0019] Fig. 3: Key cylinder and anti-theft cover assembly

[0020] Fig. 4: Perspective view of the anti-theft cover
[0021] Fig. 5: Bottom view of the anti-theft assembly
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
5
[0022] The present invention will be described below in detail
with reference to an embodiment as shown in the drawing.
[0023] The present invention provides an anti-theft casing for a
10 key cylinder of a car door.
[0024] Ref. to Fig. 3, 4 and 5, an anti-theft casing (70) for a key
cylinder (20) is disclosed. The anti-theft casing (70) for key
cylinder (20), comprises of a base (80) which defines a void (90
15 ) for the fitment of the key cylinder (20) onto the base (80) and
a flange (100) extending from the base (80) to cover the key cylinder (20) encompassed in the void (90).
[0025] The flange (100) is an integrated part of the base (80)
20 such that the flange (100) covers three sides of the base (80),
leaving the bottom side open for a lever (50) and a snap (60)
assembly of the key cylinder (20) to be connected to a latch (40)
of a lock. The advantage of covering the base (80) from three
sides is that no one can temper with the key cylinder (20) from
25 top side or either of the sides.
[0026] The height of the flange (100) is in the range of _25___
mm to 50 mm depending on the size of key cylinder levers with
6

respect to outer panel. This is so kept such that neither does it interfere with the closing of the door nor does it allow even the thinnest ruler or screwdriver or any such device which is used by the car jackers to operate the key rod of the door lock.
5
[0027] Preferably the anti-theft casing (70) has an elliptical
profile. However, it is not limited to an elliptical profile and could also have hexagonal profile, square profile and trapezoidal profile.
10
[0028] Further, the void (90) on the base (80) of the anti-theft
casing (70) is made in the shape of the key cylinder (20) such
that the key cylinder (20) fits perfectly in the void (90) and does
not leave any loose gap. The shape of casing has grooves which
15 are aligned with that of key cylinder. This shape would not only
help in guiding the cover but would also help in avoiding the wrong fitment of the cover.
[0029] The anti-theft casing (70) for the key cylinder (20) is
20 typically made from plastic, resins, PVC or other moldable
materials.
[0030] It should be noted that the description and figures merely
