APPARATUS USED FOR ATTACHMENT MARKING OVER WATER WALL PANELS IN ASSEMBLY THROUGH LOCKING IT ON BASE THROUGH POSITIONING AND FIXING OF MEASURING TAPE ORIGIN WITH ASSEMBLY LAYOUT
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to an apparatus used for fabrication of welded walls /
panels made of tubes of various sizes and specifications for high temperature and high
pressure applications.
The invention actually relates to an apparatus for marking of attachments in panels /
walls as per dimension in an innovative way.
More particularly, the invention relates to an apparatus which can make the marking of
attachments in panels / wall for assembly as more accurate, safe and efficient with
reduced manpower and cycle time for construction and checking for compatibility to
drawing dimensions in the power plants.
PRIOR ART / PATENT SEARCH
A patent search was carried out in patent search tool and the following are the results. Search was made on marking arrangement for attachment marking in spiral water wall assembly which yielded no results. Similarly, search was made on marking arrangement, marking apparatus, marking of attachments in trial assembly in high pressure boilers which yielded no results.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In power plants, the spiral and vertical panels / walls form the walls surrounding the furnace, where the fuel is burnt and the heat is transferred to the medium flowing inside the tubes. The furnace walls consist of setting of required number of panels as per drawing. The Length of the panels varies generally from 2 to 20 meters and the number of tubes per panel / wall varies from 22 tubes to 400 tubes with outside diameter ranging from around 38.1 mm to 76.1 mm. These panels have to be set accurately to enable correct attachment tacking and joining the other panels or loose tubes at site. After setting of panels in trial assembly within the defined layout, the next step is
marking of attachments. These attachments are coming in several throughout the assembly in straight line. All the rows of attachments are having defined spacing in between as per drawing. Attachments are tacked afterwards and full welded subsequently to transfer load while erection at site. So by and large this attachment line marking is one of the prominent and vital role in trial assembly of water wall panels.
Previously these attachments marking was being done manually with the help of as many as 4 persons, and in that one person has to hold the measuring tape origin matching with layout origin and other persons will subsequently mark the lines (approx. 22-26 rows) one by one as per drawing dimension. In this method of holding the tape origin matching with layout origin where even a small deviation in marking of starting rows is getting reflected and consequently becoming more prominent in balance rows of assembly which is incurring rework and additional manpower.
Hence there is a need to find out a safe and simple method for doing precise attachment marking on panels in trial assembly with reduced manpower and cycle time along with eliminating the reworks.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
Therefore, it is an object of the invention to propose an apparatus for marking of attachment lines over panels accurately.
Another object of the invention is to propose an apparatus for marking of attachment lines over panels accurately where the process of attachment marking will be safe and easy with reduced manpower and cycle time.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, there is provided an apparatus consist of one C channel body (1A) welded with vertical slotted plate (1), two hexagonal bolts (2), welded at both ends of C channel body (1A), one lever (3) with one end fixed with nut while other end with loose hexagonal bolt, two adjustment screws (4), locking screw, one measuring tape holder (6) and one vertical adjustment handle (7), refer Fig-1.
It comprises of C channel body (1A) welded with vertical slotted plate (1). C channel (1A) is provided for keeping the apparatus on top of trial assembly base channel (9) and plate (1) welded with slot is for lifting and vertical adjustment of the tape holder respectively.
There are two hexagonal bolts (2) provided at both ends with internal threading for the tightening of the apparatus on C channel of trial assembly base. Two adjustment screws (4) are provided which will fit into the hexagonal bolt and one lever (3) for tightening the adjustment screws (4) in hexagonal bolt (2) and hence ensuring the rigid and stable positioning of the apparatus on top of trial assembly base channel (9) which further ensures the accurate marking of the attachments.
Adjustment screw (4) is a T shaped hollow tube welded with rod having external thread. The rod with external thread will fit into the hexagonal bolt (2). Lever (3) is external threaded rod having bottom loose end with bolt whereas top end is closed with nut. The rod diameter of lever (3) is kept as such that it loosely fits into the adjustment screw (4) which allows for easy operation. This lever (3) will pass into the hollow tube of adjustment screw (4) for tightening and loosening of apparatus. It is important for the stable positioning of the apparatus.
Vertical adjustment handle (7) is the circular rod having one end welded with locking screw having internal threaded hole. Tape holder (6) is a small rod with external thread having hook at one end whereas the threaded other end will first fit to loose locking screw (5) and then pass through the slotted gap of apparatus (A) and then finally fit into the locking screw welded with vertical adjustment handle (7). After fixing the tape holder (6) with vertical adjustment handle (7) it can be used for changing the required height of the tape holder by loosening the locking screw (5) and tightening it at required height.
Tape holder (6) is used for tightly holding the tape origin with layout fence. It is inserted into the vertical adjustment (1) and tightened using the locking screw (5). It has a hook like holder for tightly holding the tape. This hook is folded backwards to ensure that the tape doesn't move while measuring and it remains locked on the holder. This is the main part which enable the accurate marking and eliminating the person holding the tape manually.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The apparatus (A) comprises of a C channel body (1A) welded with vertical slotted plate (1) having two hexagonal bolts (2) fixed at both sides of C channel body (1A). Two adjustment screws (4) are provided for tightening the apparatus (A) on trial assembly base channel (9). External threaded rod of adjustment screw (4) will fit into the hexagonal bolt (2). Fixing the apparatus on top of trial assembly base channel (9) is done through tightening of adjustment screw (4) with the help of Lever (3). Lever (3) loose end will pass through the hollow tube of adjustment screw (4). Tape holder (6) will fit into the loose locking screw (5) and then get connected with vertical adjustment handle (7) Apparatus (A) is kept on top of trial assembly base channel (9). Apparatus (A) is fixed and locked on trial assembly base channel (9) by tightening adjustment screw (4) into hexagonal bolt (2) at both ends through help of lever (3).
The vertical movement of the tape holder (6) is carried out by loosening and tightening the loose locking screw (5) and moving the vertical adjustment handle (7) in the slot provided in C channel body (1A).
First of all, required number of panels (10) will be set on top of trial assembly base channel (9) within layout fencing wire (12). After setting of panels (10) required no of parallel straight attachments lines (11) will be marked through help of Apparatus (A). Marking of attachment will be done at 3 places with gap of approx. 10m. After locking apparatus (A) at first place on top of trial assembly base channel (9), measuring tape (13) clip will be fixed with hook of Tape holder (6) in such a way that measuring tape (13) origin will coincide with the layout fencing wire (12). After fixing the origin of measuring tape (13) other end of tape will be hold manually at opposite end of Layout fencing wire (12). Two persons will mark and punch the required points of attachment rows on panel (10). After marking at first place, the apparatus (A) will be moved to second place on top of trial assembly base channel (9) at a distance of approx. 10m from the first place, then same operations will be repeated. After that apparatus (A) will be moved to third place on top of trial assembly channel (9) at a distance of approx. 20m from the first place. After that all the points at one row is joined with thread mixed with chalk dust to make one vertical line on panels (10). Finally, after joining all marking points we will get required no of parallel straight attachment lines (11) on panels (10). On these straight lines scallop plates (14) will be tacked and welded.
