Specification

OF INVENTION
This invention relates to assembly of barrel type louver on instrument panel
and an improved barrel type louver.
B-A-CKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Louver is known to have been provided in the vehicle for air conditioning.
However, barrel type louver providing single louver appearance is preferred to
create more space for instrument panel styling and to maintain the optimum
1 opening area for air flow. For this, car air conditioner outlet grills are mounted
I
into the instrument panel from rear side.
Due to integration of the two centre louvers together, the wrong assembly lead
to the non-uniform gap and level difference of Louver with instrument Panel.
This rnay be due to improper alignment of the Louver while assembling the
part. Therefore, for proper alignment of louver, locating and alignment
elements are required to be provided in the Instrument Panel, which serves the
dual purpose of locating the part and restricting any improper alignment.
I Mounting can also be carried out from the front of the instrument panel i.e.
from the driver side when instrument panel is installed in the vehicle. However,
mounting of the louver from the front side requires an extra garnish, which
adds to the cost. Therefore, mounting from the other side is preferred.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of thq present invention is to provide easy assembly of
barrel type louver on instrument panel and to provide an improved barrel type
louver which is simple.
Another object of the present invention is to provide assembly of barrel type
louver on instrument panel and to provide an improved barrel type louver
wherein the assembly is accurate and less time consuming.
Further object of the present invention is to provide assembly of barrel type
louver on instrument panel and to provide an improved barrel type louver
which is cost effective.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved barrel type louver
comprising of a plurality of extended parts on one surface and locating holes on
either side, in which a profile is provided around the periphery of louver.
Further, according to this invention there is provided a method of assembling
louver on instrument panel of vehicle comprising steps of:-engagement of
extended parts of the louver with engaging elements of the instrument panel,
rotation of the louver in proximity to the instrument panel for aligning screwing
clcmcnts on the other side with respect to the screwing holes.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: improved barrel type louver of the present invention.
Fig. 2 and 3 shows: instrument panel according to the present invention.
Fig. 4 shows: assembly of barrel type louver on instrument panel.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Thc present invention discloses assembly of barrel type louver on instrument
panel and an improved barrel type louver. Reference may be made to fig. 1,
wherein the improved louver comprising of at least two extended parts 10 on
one surface and plurality of screwing elements 15 on the other side. Further, at
least two locating holes 20 are provided on either side of the louver. Also, there
is provision of a profile 45 around the periphery of the louver as shown ifi fig.
1.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 2 and 3. There are at least two ribs 25 on
the instrument panel corresponding to said surface, extending vertically above
from the instrument panel. This facilitates better alignment and fitment of
louver on the instrument panel, such that after the fitment, one side of the ribs
are in contact with the matching shape of the louver.
Again, a plurality of engaging elements 30 are provided on the instrument
panel where the extended parts (10) of the louver get engaged. Further, similar
to above structure, plurality of screwing holes 35 are provided on the other side
of the instrument panel for screwing louver with the instrument panel using
screwing elements (15). At least two locating pins 40 on either side are also
provided on the instrument panel for the fitment of locating holes 20 provided
on either side of the louver.
To assemble the louver on instrument panel, the extended parts 10 are first
engaged with the engaging elements 30 and thereafter the louver is rotated
close to the instrument panel. So that, the screwing elements 15 on the other
side are now aligned with respect to the screwing holes 35. This results in the
fitment of louver with instrument panel after the screws are tightened in
screwing holes.
Further, the locating pins 40 get engaged with the locating holes 20, thus
providing proper alignment of the louver before the louver is tightened on
instrument panel.
The assembly method described hereinabove works well when the louver is
mounted keeping instrument panel in reverse directions as shown in Fig 3.
However, the method is not restricted to the above.
The method of the instant invention is having the advantage that, the parts can
be assembled without looking for the locating holes.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present inveition, which is further set forth under the
following claims:-
