1) An astringent composition comprising:
(a) Sapindus mukorossi extract; and
(b) at least one manganese salt,
wherein Sapindus mukorossi extract to the at least one manganese salt weight ratio is in the range of 30:70 – 70:30.
2) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Sapindus mukorossi extract to the at least one manganese salt weight ratio is in the range of 40:60 – 60:40.
3) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one manganese salt is selected from manganese sulfate, manganese chloride, or combinations thereof.
4) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Sapindus mukorossi extract comprises saponin having a weight percentage in a range of 30 – 45 % with respect to the Sapindus mukorossi extract.
5) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Sapindus mukorossi extract has a weight percentage in a range of 0.2 to 3.0 % with respect to the composition.
6) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one manganese salt has a weight percentage in a range of 0.1 – 0.6 %with respect to the composition.
7) The astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprises at least one cosmetically acceptable excipient.
8) A process for preparing the astringent composition as claimed in claim 1, the process comprising:

(a) obtaining Sapindus mukorossi extract;
(b) obtaining at least one manganese salt; and
(c) contacting Sapindus mukorossi extract, and the at least one manganese salt to obtain the astringent composition.
9) A process for preparing the astringent composition as claimed in claim 7,
the process comprising:

(a) obtaining Sapindus mukorossi extract;
(b) obtaining at least one manganese salt;
(c) obtaining the at least one cosmetically acceptable excipient, and contacting Sapindus mukorossi extract, the at least one manganese salt, and the cosmetically acceptable excipient to obtain the astringent composition.
10) A formulation for prevention of moisture loss from epidermis, comprising the astringent composition as claimed in any one of the claims 1-7.
