Title of the Invention : Auto TDS control system.
Name of the Applicant : DESHMUKH, Sachin Babasaheb
Address of the Applicant : 83, 84, Ashirwad Building,
Ramkrishna Nagar, Parbhani-431401 Maharashtra, India.
Preamble of the invention: - The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

Technical field of the invention: - This invention relates to RO water purification system more specifically to an auto TDS control system for reverse osmosis system.
Background of the invention:-
Total dissolved solids (TDS) comprise inorganic salts (principally calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, bicarbonates, chlorides and sulfates) and some small amounts of organic matter that are dissolved in water. TDS is a measure of the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid in a molecular ionized or micro granular suspended form. TDS is an aggregate indicator of broad array of chemical contaminants. The important application of TDS concentration is analysis of water quality for fresh water systems such as streams, rivers and lakes.
TDS control is a useful tool in kidney dialysis, boiler, laboratories where exact TDS level is required.
Reverse osmosis is a membrane technical filtration method that removes many types of large molecules and ions from solutions by applying pressure to the solution when it is on one side of a selective membrane. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. One of the applications of reverse osmosis is in drinking water purification systems.
One of the prior art for auto TDS control system is disclosed in US patent No. 20030226794. It relates to Steam boiler scale inhibitor, sludge (TSS) and TDS control, and automatic bottom blow-down management system. An improved steam boiler scale inhibitor, sludge (TSS) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) control, and automatic bottom blow-down management system which totally eliminates the use of scale inhibitor chemicals and eliminates manual blow down for sludge control (TSS). The present system is attached by a single hookup to the mud leg or the bottom blow down port of an existing boiler. The system includes a closed-loop duct with inline circulator pump to draw water from the bottom of the boiler drum and return through the same bottom outlet port. The system includes a

TDS controller connected to the circulator pump, and to both a "smart" valve and a high temperature probe exposed inside the closed loop duct. The TDS Controller is preprogrammed to time the opening, open duration and closing of the smart valve depending upon the water quality at the site location as sensed by the probe, thereby allowing for the control of TSS and TDS in the drum water. The water is also exposed to an in-line descaling tool within the system. An alternative embodiment is also shown that is better suited for boilers with pressure vessel codes requiring both fast & slow bottom blow down valves.
Another prior art disclosed in patent no.5114571 relates to water purification system. An automatic water treatment system including a magnetic descaler, a centrifugal separator and an electrode purifier operationally connected to a water supply and controlled by a microprocessor so as to monitor conductivity, pH and copper/silver content and control the descaler, separator and purifier as well as the blow down as required to insure acceptable levels of water purity while avoiding excessive blow down.
In prior art, when water TDS is less than 35 ppm, then water TDS is increased manually. So there is a need for auto TDS system which maintains TDS level and balances PH and removes those disorders.
The present embodiment is an auto TDS control system for Reverse osmosis system. The present embodiment can be used for domestic, commercial and for industrial purpose.
Disadvantages of the prior art are as follows -
1. No proper identification of water TDS range.
2. Unsafe zone is not identified.
3. No proper maintenance of PH causing certain disorders when TDS is low.
4. Manual adjustment of water TDS control valve.
5. TDS checking by digital TDS meter.

The Advantages of the present embodiment are as follows -
1. Helps in increasing water TDS as well as proper counting of TDS.
2. Automatic maintenance of TDS.
3. By using LEDs/digital display, this shows safe & unsafe range of pure water.
4. Indicator gives information about damage of membrane filter.
5. Automatic Operation of TDS control valve.
Object of the present embodiment:- The main object of the present embodiment is to remove all the associated drawbacks and to give a system an automatic TDS control system with LED/Digital dispaly.
Another object of the present embodiment is to give a system for auto TDS control which maintains TDS level without manual operation.
Yet another object of the present embodiment is to give a system for TDS control which gives accurate measurement of TDS.
It also gives information about membrane's (RO) working condition on his LED/Digital display.
Statement of the invention :-
The present embodiment is a unique and novel system for auto TDS control for water purification system. The present embodiment provides automatic maintainance of TDS as well as accurate measurement of TDS. The indicator gives information of damage of filter membrane.
Summary of the invention:-

low TDS indicator (below 35 ppm), safe TDS indicator (35 to 100 ppm) and dangerous zone indicator (above 100 ppm).
Detailed description of the accompanying drawings:-
A complete understanding of the present invention may be by reference to the following detailed description which taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. In Figure 1 shows schematic representation of auto TDS control system.
Detailed description of the invention:-
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the shortcomings associated with the prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention described in the present embodiment.
Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein; however it is to be understood that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore specific details enclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately system, structure or matter.
The present embodiment is an auto TDS control system. It automatically adjust or control water TDS (Total dissolved salts or solvents) and brings it in TDS range 35 to 100 or above in ppm. Previously, It was a manual TDS control system in which TDS control is carried out by a TDS control valve which is operated by hand or equipments. Auto TDS control works automatically as there is no need for any equipment or manpower for increasing water TDS.
Raw Water comes to the pump after which it goes simultaneously to the membrane to which TDS control valve (initially adjusted) & solenoid valve/elctronic valve attached parallel after which pure water outlet of membrane attached to TDS control Valve and then it goes to next filter or direct to pure water storage tank. If

the pure water TDS is low (below recommended TDS i.e. 35ppm). This water TDS is measured by Storage Tank TDS sensor/TDS meter. Which gives the signal to signal identification unit or a process kit. When the signal identification unit or a process kit gets the low TDS signal then it starts the supply of Solenoid Valve/electronic Valve to open it. Then the high TDS water from TDS control valve & solenoid valve/eletronic valve mixes with the low TDS water comes from membrane Pure water outlet. By mixing of these two waters, water TDS of pure water becomes higher (35 to 100 ppm), which we called as safe zone water TDS, In this process, without using human support (like checking water TDS, ajusting TDS controlled Valve) water TDS increases automatically when it is low, therefore we called this invention as "Auto TDS Control" system. TDS range can also be controlled by signal identification unit. This signal identification unit can be a computer programme along with hardware. This TDS range is shown either by digital display or LED display.
Auto TDS control system works by two ways
1) By using water sensors and signal identification unit.
2) By a combined auto TDS control system.
The present embodiment consists of the following
1) TDS Sensor or TDS meter:-
This is used to measure water TDS. Water from the RO system comes to the pure water storage tank in which TDS sensor or TDS meter is used. Flow water tank can be used in place of pure water storage tank in case of flowing water flow in which online TDS meter/sensor is used.
2) Signal identification unit or a process kit;-
It reads the signal through water TDS sensor/meter. If water TDS range is below 35 ppm, then the current supply comes [SMPS (electronic adapter)If input fluctuation occurs, output supply is kept as constant as require] from the adaptor goes to solenoid valve which is located after the mixing valve or TDS control valve.
Auto TDS control system is formed by TDS control valve and solenoid valve. Optional microprocessor kit can be used in place of signal identification unit.

3) LED display unit or optional digital display unit:-
It is controlled by the signal identification unit/process kit. There different indicator zones are used like
a) If TDS is below than 35, then it shows low TDS indicator.
b) If TDS is in between 35 to 100 then it shows safe zone TDS indicator.
c) If TDS is above 100 then it shows a dangerous zone indicator.
Digital display can be used in place of LED display unit where exact TDS is shown digitally.
4) Solenoid valve /electronic operated valve :-
Solenoid/electronic Valve stops or opens Water supply depending upon electric supply. When current supply is provided, water supply opens & vice versa.
5) Mixing/TDS control valve :-
Mixing/TDS control valve is any kind of flow reducing valve, which operates manually(we can fix it on constant reduced water flow). It acts as a flow reducer. It reduces the liquid flow. It works by both adjustable and non-adjustable ways.
The embodiments of the invention as described above and the methods disclosed herein will suggest further modification and alterations to those skilled in the art. Such further modifications and alterations may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention; which is defined by the scope of the following claims.
