Abstract: Main objective of the invention is to introduce a new mechanism which eases the process of grating by user. Another objective of the invention is to attain grating by giving a to and fro motion to the grater blade. The grater will have a facility of replaceable blades that will enable the user to have different grades. Attachments will help the used get the desired form of product as per his requirements. The mechanism attached transfers the rotational motion to translational motion of the blade. The mechanism can be rotated via a handle or an electric motor.
Claims:1) Reciprocating food grater setup (1) for grating food in an easier and faster way comprising of
wheel (2) to provide the reciprocating motion to the connecting rod(3),
grating blade (4) for grating the food item with the relative motion between the grating blade and food item, pusher (6) to apply force to the food item to maintain it in the position and allow relative motion to be possible,
casing (1) to mount the above assembly on it.
2) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, wherein the wheel (2) is rotated that makes the connecting rod (3) and the grater blade (4) to reciprocate and generate a relative motion between the grater blade (4) and give it a force using the pusher (6) in the direction perpendicular to motion of grater blade (4) so as to grate the food item.
3) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of a handle with gear mechanism that can be used to rotate the wheel (2) manually.
4) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of an electric motor that can be connected with gear mechanism and rotate the wheel (2).
5) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of grove-shaft joint or bearing joint or any other type of revolute joint that can be attached to the shaft of the wheel (2) and the casing (1).
6) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of electric motor that can be mounted on the pusher and thus replace the spring (7) mechanism.
7) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of automatic manual or electronic feeder that can automatically feed the food item into the setup.
8) Reciprocating food grater setup as in claim 1, further comprising of electronic microcontroller that can completely automate the process using sensors for detecting type of food item and adjusting the operating parameters suitably.

, Description:The invention converts the rotational motion given as input by the user into reciprocating motion of the blade that creates a relative motion between the food item and the blade and thus leads to grating of the food item. This allows long sized food items to be grated and thus obtain longer length of chips. Also the invention makes it easier to grate the food as minimal force is required to rotate the grater. Hence, this design eliminates the effort required for grating and makes it easier to grate the food when it is in very large quantity.
