Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an Automated Mehndi Applying Machine including comprises
CNC machines which is automation over the traditional application of Mehndi art over the
hands. Automated Mehndi applying machine is designed such that to save time and extra effort
of a person. This invention will reduce the cost of Mehndi art to a great extent hence making it
cost effective. This invention is going to improve the finess of the Mehndi art. It overcomes the
problem of applying Mehndi art over the hands, which is till date being done manually, but this
invention offers faster, simpler and better solution to the complex Mehndi designs that can be
made over the hand within no time and also the designs can be selected from list of the designs
and not those which the concerned person applying Mehndi art knows.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Mehndi art is having great traditional and religious ethics in India. The traditions so goes on
every Indian festival. India has around 620 million women population which has a great craze for
Mehndi art, this craze is nowdays spreading to other countries also. It is prevalent in every corner
of India. This way of temporary Mehndi art is spreading over other countries also but this art is
only applied by a trained professional till day and there has been no automation over it. So this
invention brings the automation to the field of applying Mehndi art over the hands.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention is about a machine which will automatically apply Mehndi design over the palm
of the hand. This invention encloses a machine and a software through which the machine will
be controlled to make Mehndi designs. A machine in which you have to keep your hand on the
provided stencil and it will start making predefined Mehndi design on your hand. A scanner will
be used to pick the image of the hand and will feed it to computer to resize it. The computer
software includes various features of controlling the motion of the machine parts, controlling the
ejection of Mehndi from the nozzle using sensor, detecting the hand size by using scanner,
detecting the left or right hand, or any misshaped hand. The designs will made by a moving
stylus made like a nozzle which will be ejecting out viscous Mehndi at a constant pressure
through electric pump which will be pumping it from a reservoir or container that contains
Mehndi.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIGURE 1: SCHEMETIC DIAGRAM
FIGURE 2: PRPOSED DIAGRAM
3
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The Disclosed machine comprises of a Mehndi nozzle which will get supply from a pump i.e.
attached to reservoir (tank where Mehndi mixture will be kept). The machine will be simple
containing two vertical groves in which a horizontal shaft can move freely and on the horizontal
shaft cone like structure will be able to move freely, all the motion(along three axis i.e. x-axis, yaxis
and z-axis) of the machine parts( horizontal and vertical motion of Mehndi jet nozzle) will
be controlled by a computer. The horizontal shaft will move through rack and pinion method to
constrain the to and fro motion. The cone will be having a pressure control valve with actuator
which will be attached to the nozzle for stopping the Mehndi ejection as per there design. The
pressure control valve will be guided by the microprocessor over the nozzle. The machine will be
containing sensors which will detect the size of the hand and will adjust the scale of the design
accordingly. The computer will have software in which you have to feed the size of hand and
also to select the design for Mehndi. The software will be containing some preloaded designs to
select from and will also be controlling the motion of the Mehndi machine. Also the software
will be guiding the machine to control the flow of Mehndi by collaborating with the
microprocessor fitted over the cone of the Mehndi machine. The machine will be containing the
stencil to keep the hand over it so that the machine can proceed with designing the art over the
palm.
MACHINE HARDWARE SPECIFICATION
This machine will include a stencil to keep one’s hand and a moving arm of machine above the
hand to apply Mehndi. A Scanner will be there to scan the image of hand and feed it to the
computer software to recognize it. Then the image is worked out by the software and template of
Mehndi design is adjusted according over the scanned image of hand. Thus nozzle can move
over the hand accordingly fed by computer to draw the design.
Motion is controlled by a robotic arm. The beam is placed above the table, which guides the cone
moves along the length of, and the beam moves along stencil length, allowing for X- and Y-axis
motion. Machine will use vector graphics to draw Mehndi art.
A vaccum system is used to slightly grip the hand and the mechanism follows that there are
small holes all over the stencil every will be connected to the vacuum pump. This vacuum pump
will create a mild suction force which will grip the hand to the stencil so that any motion of hand
can be constrained to ensure proper drawing of design over the hand. This vacuum pump will
come into action as soon as it detects that hand is over the stencil using LDR sensors.
4
There will be a control mechanism to control the ejection of the Mehndi as per the requirement
of design. It is used to stop the output when part of hand ends. This is done to ensure that there is
no wastage of heena or Mehndi.
The machine will also be containing a sensor to stop Mehndi ejection when part of hand ends.
This is to avoid the wastage of Mehndi. This sensor will be an optical encoder to encode the data
and fed it to computer so that computer may know when the part of hand ends. When the moving
cone comes to the end of the hand while applying Mehndi over the hand then suddenly the
Mehndi will be stopped coming out of the cone.
The cone or nozzle part from where the Mehndi is coming is programmed for up and down
movement also for complex designs so if by mistake it touches the hand and before going further
downwards it will stop. There is a Sensor equipped to stop down coming of nozzle when it
touches hand.
Computer software will be used to control a Mehndi machine. Computer Aided Design (CAD)
software can help design what needs to be drawn on the hand, using a computer. The machine
have Read Only Memory (ROM) that allows the motions of the nozzle and arm to be
programmed by the user.
SOFTWARE SPECIFICATION
There will be a provision to add new design into the software by using insert new design button.
The new design will be scanned by the scanner and the software will check for whether the
design can be made with the machine or not. Feasibility of design will be checked by the
software, that whether the design chosen to apply over the hand is feasible to be made by the
machine or not.
Software will control when the flow of the Mehndi needs to come out of nozzle and when to stop
it according to the selected designs or templates.
Size of hand recognition will be done by software as soon as the scanned image is received from
the scanner.
When the scanned image of the hand will be fed to computer by the scanner then the selected
design will be made to fit over the hand and dimensions of the template will be resized according
to the dimensions of the hand
Any new design if selected will be resized according the templates as they get adjusted for the
palm of the hand.
5
Programming for the machine used will be CAD programming that will operate the machine in
required X-axis and Y-axis. Both microcontrollers over the machine and computer software will
coordinate to complete the task.
