Background of the invention and the related Prior Art
Theft of vehicles is a very significant and important problem facing vehicle owners. To address this problem, many different types of anti-theft systems that attempt to prevent a potential thief from stealing a vehicle are known in the art. However, as the sophistication of the anti-theft systems increases, the sophistication and ingenuity of the thieves also increases. The different types of anti-theft systems include steering wheel locks, alarm systems, and devices that disable certain essential components of the vehicle ignition system when an attempted theft is recognized. The systems that disable essential components of the vehicle ignition system generally include systems that interrupt the vehicle ignition circuit so as to prevent the vehicle from actually starting. One particular system includes providing an authorization circuit within the vehicle ignition key that is electrically coupled to the ignition circuit when the key is put into the ignition switch to provide a signal of an authorized user to enable the vehicle to be started.
The patent document US6732020states that an accident notification system for a vehicle includes a damage predicting system which detects that a vehicle occupant has been injured in an accident involving the vehicle, a vehicle position detecting system which detects the position of the vehicle, and a mobile communication terminal which receives a signal predicting injury to the vehicle occupant from the damage predicting system to generate a calling from the vehicle to a call center. The call center performs a notification to an accident response facility on the basis of the calling and obtains prediction information that the vehicle occupant has been injured from the damage predicting system and vehicle position information detected by the vehicle position detecting system. Accordingly, even when there is no one who notifies an accident response facility of an accident, emergency cleaning-up after an accident and treatment for an injured vehicle occupant can be made.
The other document US6405132discloses the system and method for preventing vehicle accidents in which GPS ranging signals relating to a host vehicle's position on a roadway on a surface of the earth are received on a first communication link from a network of satellites and DGPS auxiliary range correction signals for correcting propagation delay errors in the GPS ranging signals are received on a second communication link from a station or satellite. The host vehicle's position on a roadway on a surface of the earth is determined from the GPS, DGPS, and accurate map database signals with centimeter accuracy and communicated to other vehicles. The host vehicle receives position information from other vehicles and determines whether any other vehicle from which position information is received represents a collision threat to the host vehicle based on the position of the other vehicle relative to the roadway and the host vehicle. If so, a warning or vehicle control signal response to control the host vehicle's motion is generated to prevent a collision with the other vehicle.

Once written, the encrypted file cannot be altered or corrupted, decrypted without the encryption key, or accessed without the access authorization code. The data file can be down loaded to be used as evidence.
The document US5586457 describes a vehicle disablement system that prevents and deters the unauthorized use of a vehicle by limiting engine operation to idle speed. A pedal obstructing device is located beneath the accelerator pedal of the vehicle that is selectively movable between an obstructing position, engaging the pedal, and an enablement position, clearing the pedal. The pedal obstructing device is moved into the obstructing position by an electromagnetic actuator (e.g., a solenoid) or by a motor. The device is locked into the obstructing position by a locking arm which is electromagnetically activated. In an alternative embodiment of the system, the electromagnetic actuator or the motor is controlled from a remotely operated transmitter.

An alcohol sensor is attached on the steering which will help in detecting the alcoholic condition of the driver. It will not allow the vehicle to start if the driver is detected alcoholic beyond a threshold level. An IR Camera will be fitted in a suitable location towards the upper side of the wind screen to detect the extent of drowsiness of the driver using image processing technique. The provision of IR camera will make the system light independent. In case the camera detects a drowsy driver it will warn the driver using a hooter. If the continuous alarm fails the driver to bring to normal condition, the vehicle will automatically be stopped by auto-cut of the fuel supply to the engine and the location of stopped car will be sent to the registered mobile number(s). If a person tries to fool the face detection system by placing a fake eye-opened photograph of his face in front of the camera, the system will also warn the driver with same alarm system. If this problem continues for certain time period, the car will be automatically stopped by auto-cutting the fuel flow to the engine. This additional feature will help even in detecting the consciousness of the driver. Finally the vehicle can be resumed to the normal state when the activated reset button will be pressed in the stopped vehicle. Such feature of face recognition mechanism will also be helpful in the system for detecting the registered drivers who are allowed to start/use the vehicle. If a person without facial registration tries to start the vehicle, an alert SMS will immediately be sent to the registered mobile number(s). This will help to protect the vehicle from a possibility of theft due to fuel starvation in the vehicle.
The novel features that are considered characteristic of the present invention are set forth with particularity in the appended claims. FIG. 13 illustrates the flow cart of the working principle of the an accident and theft prevention device according to the present invention;
The main features of the vehicle having an automated accident and theft prevention device are being illustrated wherein it can see in the dark also because there is a night vision system. In this device drivers’ faces are recognized using Image processing technique (which is more reliable and authentic), so that only permitted driver can start the vehicle. If a driver tries to run the vehicle, fuel will be stopped, and the vehicle cannot be started. That is it will also act as an theft prevention device. Thus the device will provide an anti-theft provision in the car.
It will provide two layer accident prevention mechanisms. One is by auto-alcohol sensing where the alcohol sensor will be fitted on the steering, second by drowsiness detection system using image processing technique. Drowsiness of the driver will be monitored throughout the time the vehicle is in operation.
In case the driver is found to be drowsy, instantaneously a hooter will sound to awake the driver. Thus the device will act as an excellent accident prevention device.
In case of detection of alcoholic driver, a message will be delivered to the designated mobile number(s). This will help in alerting the concerned registered person(s) related with the vehicle.
This device is aimed to perform on two major fronts, viz., (i) the accident prevention of the moving vehicle and (ii) auto-prevention system of the theft of the vehicle. The device is achieved with unique and novel mechanism with recognizing the face of the driver of the vehicle by employing the 'image processing technique'. The mechanism gets further robust in its function such that the face recognition of the driver can be done equally well even in the dark environment through night vision system using a sensitive IR Camera, placed in front of the face of the driver. Through this mechanism, theft of the vehicle is also auto-prevented since the system does not allow the car engine to start due to auto power cut to the ignition coil and by stoppage of the fuel flow in the car engine to move beyond a certain significant distance till the pre-loaded face(s) of the driver(s) of that vehicle matches with the mischief person or the thief.
Another most significant goal of this device in the impugned invention signifies in achieving the goal of auto-prevention of the fast moving vehicle from an accident. This technology becomes more meaningful and useful for a high speed LMV on a highway or express way when the vehicle suddenly goes out of control of the driver mainly due to driving fatigue or drowsiness. Such accidents of most severe intensity are quite common on the highways, which are attributed to the loss of control of the driver on the SUV kind of vehicles while in high momentum. The present invention involved for the automated prevention of such accidents is achieved by placing a high sensitivity IR camera coupled with the feature of the night vision on the driver's face to monitor the pupil movement and stability of the eye-pupils of the driver. Using an appropriate module the device is so programmed that the perturbation or the discrepancy in the set threshold of the frequency of the eye-pupil movement of the driver instantly puts a high pitch hooter on, as an immediate alarm for the driver as well the nearby vehicles to get prepared for the accident prevention. Further, the fuel passage of the car under the lost control is commanded to be cut off automatically. This adds to gradually minimize the speed of the fast moving car under trouble. These features of the product have not been used so far in any technology.
In addition to this, the vehicle driven by a drunken driver beyond a limit of intoxication will not be able to drive the vehicle again on the mechanism of auto hooter alarm and the auto-cut of the fuel flow in the vehicle engine, controlled by the image processing system of the eye-pupil movement, detected by the night vision IR camera. In the device, the alcohol sensor fit on the steering gives an alarm to the pre-synced mobile phone(s) of the registered numbers of the concerned persons related with the vehicle through IoT mechanism.
Advantages of the invention:
The advantages of the a vehicle having an automated accident and theft prevention device as described in above body of the specification are given below:
1) The device uses much less resource, for example it is not dependent on cloud system, as claimed in other invention.
2) In the above invention, registration of driver is done by face image processing technique which is more reliable and authentic.
3) Device is highly cost effective and user friendly.
4) This device is much safer and robust in its mechanism since capable with auto stopping feature through programmed fuel regulation mechanism, which is not available in other similar device, so far.
5) The present invention/device can work even in dark environment.
6) Provision of detection of consciousness of the driver while in motion.
7) In case of a trouble, a text message will be sent to the registered mobile number(s) of the concerned persons related with the vehicle.
8) This device has auto-theft prevention facility through recognizing the facial image of the driver by video-graphic image processing technique.
9) Alarm system through a Hooter is much effective than the other methods in the existing claims.
10) In the device, alcohol sensor is placed on the vehicle steering which would improve the reliability of the detection of alcoholic condition of the driver, due to optimal distance between the sensor and the driver’s mouth.
Of course, the invention is by no means limited to the forms of embodiment described and illustrated in the body of the specification. In particular, it comprises all the means constituting technical equivalents to the means described as well as their combinations, should the latter be carried out according to the spirit of the invention.
