Abstract: Automatic Fan Speed Regulator as claimed in Claim 1, to be installed for the purpose of controlling the fan speed comprises Resistance-Capacitance circuits with changeover relay wherein the charging and discharging time of the capacitor is timed in such a manner that the regulator output voltage would be selected through output RC circuit (Capacitor 2µ2K 250V + 180K Resistor combination of 3 sets) at a preset level that would result in the reduction in the speed of the fan. In manual mode, it bypasses the automatic circuit that would cut off the automatic function and relay would switch to the fixed voltage selection of the above mentioned RC combination based on the manual speed selector position.
This invention pertains to Automatic Fan Speed Regulator. This invention contemplates a complete solution to the health problems arised due to running the fan in high speed during the whole night time.
At the outset of the description which follows it is to be understood that ensuing description only illustrates a particular form of this invention. However, such particular form is only an exemplary embodiment, and without intending to imply any limitation on the scope of this invention. Accordingly, the description is to be understood as an exemplary embodiment and reading of the invention and not intended to be taken restrictively.
The modern technology make people more happy, comfortable, efficient and effective, but it also make people lazy and some time irresponsible too. However, it is important that whilst being lazy or irresponsible one need to take care of health matters seriously and use appropriate gadgets to ensure that health is not affected by other gadgets that supposed to be giving the comfort. It is with this intention the Automatic Fan Speed Regulator was designed.
Understanding the personal preference set by the customer this invention keeps the fan speed at appropriate level so that the health problem such as common cold, asthma, sinusitis, rheumatic problems, Skin dryness etc. that arises or escalates due to sleeping under high speed fan for a longer duration can be completely avoided and thus the well being of the people particularly the children, old people and pregnant women can be secured.
Application
During the crossover period of climatic changes the atmospheric temperature and the moisture level become so fluctuating that it affects ones health if the person sleep in a room, either closed or open, leaving the fan at the same speed throughout night. Immediately after the rainy season the climatic change is sudden and it is generally a habit of people to run the fan at the highest speed while going to the bed due to high temperature in the late evening thinking that they will reduce the speed after some time. However, it is very unlikely people would ever get up and reduce the speed and hence finally end up sleeping under high speed fan that would result to above stated health problems.
This Automatic Fan Speed Regulator using the electronic and electrical devices within is meant primarily for reducing the speed of the fans (generally for domestic application or any situation where the feature of this product is required) at an interval preset by the customer so that by early morning the speed would come to minimum in gradual progression. The detailed operation is that at the time of going to the bed the fan speed is kept at a particular level and the user select the speed reduction timer at desired steps of 4 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours or 1 hour by selecting a selector switch. Upon selecting the timer the speed of fan would be reduced to the next lowest level once the time elapses and again after reaching the same time the speed of fan would be reduced to the next lowest level and ultimately end up fan running in the lowest fan speed. This function is available on the auto mode of the automatic fan speed regulator.
The other feature of the product is that by selecting an auto/manual switch to Manual mode the regulator would behave like the ordinary fan regulator.
The present design is for reducing the speed only. However, the product can be modified to increase the speed automatically with certain changes.
The Automatic Fan Speed Regulator is a standalone unit and can replace the conventional regulator easily. This product is ideal for home, hospitals and the places where the feature is required.

Now the invention will be described in detail with reference to drawings, which accompany the complete specification. The method of the operation of the system is that the user while going to bed decides whether he need the fan speed consistent throughout sleeping time. If consistent speed is required the auto selector switch must be in manual position and Auto indicator would not lit. The user can use the fan regulator in the normal conventional way.
If the user decides that he would like to run the fan in full speed (position 4) and then gradually come down to the minimum required speed of 1 (position 1) then the right side rotating switch marked 'Speed' to be kept at position 4 and the minimum speed at the end of the automatic fan speed reduction process is to be kept at minimum then the left side rotating switch marked 'Min. Speed5 to be kept at position 1. With this setting the fan would initially start at high speed and after approximately an hour it would come down to next lowest level (which is position 3) and again after approximately an hour it would come down the next lowest level (which is position 2) and again after approximately an hour it would come down the next lowest level (which is position 1) and remain in this position. In the event if the selection of minimum required speed was kept for position 2 then at the end of the speed reduction process it would remain in Position 2. The initial speed can also be set at desired level by selecting the 'Speed' switch appropriately. In the day time the Auto switch can be kept in the OFF mode so that the regulator could be used like any ordinary regulator.

fixed voltage selection of the above mentioned RC combination based on the manual
speed selector position.
2) Automatic Fan Speed Regulator as claimed in Claim 1 would also function like the
conventional fan regulator and can be used to replace any make of regulator.
