Claims:WE CLAIM:
1)An automatic power meter reading system using GSM network comprising of;
a. Collecting data automatically from energy meter;
b. Analyzing the data through analyzer unit;
c. Transferring the data to the central database for billing;
d. Displaying the data over LCD display.
2)The automatic power meter reading system using GSM network as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said Transmitter circuit is connected to the meter which counts the pulses from it and displays it over the LCD display.
3) The automatic power meter reading system using GSM network as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said transmitter circuit containing a GSM modem for data transforming, which transforms the meter reading through SMS.
4) The automatic power meter reading system using GSM network as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said system automatically calculates the bill where User has to put the unit rate and date of billing and also print it if printer is connected to computer and send it to the user.
5) The automatic power meter reading system using GSM network as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said system with LED is paired with a LDR and the output of LDR is connected to the base of NPN transistor and the collector output of transistor is connected to the micro-controller followed by passing a signal to the micro-controller to count the pulses of meter reading at each blink of LED of meter reading.
, Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention relates to a metering system. The present invention more particularly relates to an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
The traditional metering systems has many disadvantages as manual reading has shortcomings such as errors in taking reading, inaccuracy, external conditions affecting readings ,delayed work .These techniques also requires huge manpower. Automatic meter reading system is one way to avoid these shortcomings. There are three key elements in an automatic meter reading (AMR) system: consumption measurement, meter reading, transmission of measured data, and data processing and billing. An AMR system has to be Cost effective i.e. costs of implementation, maintenance should be reduced while providing robust and reliable performance and one very important thing is the relationship between the customer and the supplier must be considered. Automatic Electric Meter reading is one method of reading and processing data automatically with computer and communication. It is the need of improving the automatic level of energy consumption and the necessity of rapid development of computer and communication technology too. It not only may relieve reading person's labor intensity, reduce the reading mistake, but also has the advantage of high speed and good real-time.
Wireless Electric Meter reading for wireless communication technology, complete the design of automatic Electric Meter reading system. Through researching the characteristic of main wireless communication protocol, GSM is chosen as lower layer communication protocol. Now a day energy meter reader goes to every premise and takes the reading manually then issues the bill. In manually reading, human error possible and not provide reliable meter reading. An energy meter is a device which is used to measures the consumption of energy of any residence or other industrial establishment. In Conventional metering system to measure electricity consumption the energy provider company hire persons who visit each house and record the meter reading manually. This is only a sluggish and laborious. In Conventionally metering system people try to manipulate meter reading by adopting various corrupt practices such as current reversal or partial earth fault condition, bypass meter, magnetic interference etc. If any consumer did not pay the bill, the electricity worker needs to go to their houses to disconnect the power supply. The wide proliferation of wireless communication propose and explore new possibilities for the next generation Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) whose goal is to help collect the meter measurement automatically and possibly send commands to the meters. Automation ranges from Connecting to a meter through an RS-232 interface for transmitting the meter measurements all the way from the meter to the utility company via GSM network. We are use the digital energy meter in implies a times sampled system.
So there is a need for an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network. The present invention is human error free and provides reliable meter reading. The present invention collect the meter measurement automatically and possibly send commands to the meters.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the main invention is to provide an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network.
Another object of the present invention is to provide human error free reading system and provides reliable meter reading.
Yet another object of the present invention is to collect the meter measurement automatically and possibly send commands to the meters.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
Accordingly, an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network is disclosed. An automatic power meter reading system using GSM network comprising of; Collecting data automatically from energy meter; Analyzing the data through analyzer unit; Transferring the data to the central database for billing; and Displaying the data over LCD display.

Fig 1 is the flowchart for an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH RESPECT TO DRAWINGS:
The present invention is an automatic power meter reading system using GSM network. The present invention provides human error free reading system and provides reliable meter reading. The present invention collects the meter measurement automatically and possibly send commands to the meters.
In one embodiment, automatically data is collected from energy meter and that data is transferred to a central database for billing and/or analyzing. The Transmitter circuit is connected to the meter which counts the pulses from it and displays it over the LCD display. The transmitter circuit containing a GSM modem for data transforming, which transforms the meter reading through SMS. User has to put the unit rate and date of billing, and then this software automatically calculates the bill and also print it if printer is connected to computer and send it to the user.
In this GSM based Automatic meter reading, a led is connected in parallel to the ‘cal’ led of meter reading. This led is paired with a LDR. the output of LDR is connected to the base of NPN transistor and the collector output of transistor is connected to the micro-controller. So at each blink of led of meter reading, a signal is passed to the micro-controller to count the pulses of meter reading. Then micro-controller updates the reading and displayed it over LCD and also saves to the database of the website. The LCD and database of the website are connected to micro-controller. For transferring the data a GSM modem is used, which sends SMS to the particular mobile number defined. The micro-controller is programmed to send the SMS after every 10 pulses of meter reading.
Present type of energy meter also had a blinking led for the counting the pulses from this LED are fed to microcontroller for count operation i.e. these pulses are sent to the microcontroller and these readings are stored into external memory of the micro controller. External memory (database of the website) is able to store previous Energy consumed as well in case one needs to check present Energy consumed status. LCD is connected with microcontroller, microcontroller sends a message to LCD display unit so that we can view the status of GSM Modem. Whenever a message is sent to the GSM modem, it communicates the message to the micro controller and micro controller is responded back as the preset mobile number through the program. The due bill is sent by SMS to the customer after updating the readings in the electricity board and supply will be cut by the electricity department if the customer fails to pay the bills.
In another embodiment, An automatic power meter reading system using GSM network comprising of;
a. Collecting data automatically from energy meter;
b. Analyzing the data through analyzer unit;
c. Transferring the data to the central database for billing;
d. Displaying the data over LCD display.
