Abstract: This Patent is about Automating day to day CDR billing of mobile & Landline subscribers using blockchain Technology. Telecom Blockchain Network uses three block chain principles such as smart contract block chain, permissioned block chain, Immutable Block chain to automate the telecom billing of subscribers.
Description:Telecom Blockchain Network:
A) Smart contract Block chain:
Smart contract is an agreement which contains predefined set of codes in if/else condition inside blockchain.
In Telecom this smart contract contains program that identifies whether the call is Local/STD/ISD based on the country code ,City Code. Smart Contract block chain has predefined set of programs inside blockchain which contains Values in each country currency for each Local /STD/ISD Calls.
Details of the Subscribers are already present in smart contract block chain in the form of the programs against their respective mobile/Landline Number and when the call from respective telecom carrier reaches the smart contract block chain then it automatically identifies the call as Local/STD/ISD based on the program and as per call duration calculates the billing based on the currency value for the particular Month.
Telecom Smart Block chain are speed, efficient, codes are accurate and secure for telecom operators.
Telecom Smart Block chain has a set of codes which contains details of Type of call, Duration of call, Cost of call, Details of Subscribers with their Mobile/Landline Numbers.
B) Permissioned Block chain:
Telecom service providers use Permissioned block chain in Telecom. The main principle for using permissioned block chain is only then the Telecom service providers have access to the block chain since smart contract block chain contains highly sensitive program which contains data such as Call Type, Cost of the call, details of the subscribers for calculating the monthly billing.
Reason for choosing permissioned block chain by telecom service Providers are access control, faster performance, lower transaction cost, high scalability, known identity, low transaction cost.
Permissioned Block chain has access only to the administrators of the respective telecom company to make changes in the program as per the telecom service provider requirements.
C) Immutable Block chain:
Immutable is the main principle of block chain technology which mains the data entry which has been stored in block chain cannot be altered or changes as per the requirement.
This characteristics or principle of block chain is very important since CDR Billing involves the Currency values for each call made by subscriber and hence protects the incorrect or false billing to subscribers.
Working Principle for the Automation of CDR Billing in Block chain Technology:
A) Call from Mobile / Landline Subscriber is initiated and the call reaches Visited public Mobile Network(VPMN).
B) Technically Public Mobile Network contains Telecom Service Provider Tower ,Private Branch Exchange and the telecom carrier to forward the calls.
C) Once the calls from Mobile / Landline subscriber reaches the Telecom service provider tower ,calls are routed based on the route pattern configured on the Private Branch Exchange and then Forwarded via Telecom carrier to the Destination.
D) Block chain Network got activated once call reaches the VPMN and smart contract Block chain identifies whether the calls are Local,STD,ISD based on the smart chain contract .Then the cost for each call made by subscriber is identified with the help of programs set on the smart chain block chain. Permissioned block chain is used by telecom service provider to find out whether the data is correctly stored in block chain every fortnight with the help of telecom administrators. Immutable block chain ensures the call data, values of the call, Subscriber details are unchangeable once the data is stored in block for monthly billing.
E) Once the call is established to the Destination which is Home Public mobile Network (HPMN) from the telecom carrier to the subscriber ,block chain network automatically validates the Call Originated time ,Type of call, Value of call, Details of Subscriber and all data are recorded in the block chain using smart chain block chain principle.
F) After the call is completed the block chain network automatically generates the monthly CDR Billing to the subscribers monthly once with the help of Permissioned and Immutable block chain Principles.
Difference between Traditional Monthly Billing of CDR and Block chain Network Monthly Billing of CDR
The Main difference is Instead of Block chain Network in the Proposed Diagram, Telecom Service provider outsources this monthly task to third party Data entry companies .
The data entry Server Database is Directly integrated with Telecom service provider CDR Server and they do Manually CDR Billing for Each customer stored in the database and dispatch the monthly billing to Subscribers.
Since the Monthly CDR Billing by telecom is outsourced to third party Vendor the costing of this important process got increased and the data security is questionable since the CDR Monthly data of the subscriber is with the third party vendor of the Telecom company.
Advantages of using Block chain Network in Monthly Billing of CDR:
1.Data security of CDR Billing Data is secure which is important policy of TRAI(Telecom Regulatory Authority of India).
2.Cost involved for block chain Telecom Network is very less compared to traditional Outsourced CDR Billing.
3.Time required to CDR Billing Dispatch to Subscribers is drastically reduces since each company owns specific Telecom Block chain Network and through permissioned, Immutable Block chain Monthly Billing is done to subscribers immediately the monthly billing period.
4.Retention period of CDR Data is high in block chain than in Manual CDR Billing Servers.
Conclusion:
This patent is to automate the CDR Monthly Billing for Telecom Subscribers through Blockchain Technology which can be achieved through Smart contract Blockchain,Permissionable Block chain and Immutable block chain. The proposed Diagram and working Principle explains the process to complete the CDR Automation through Block chain.
