Abstract: This invention relates to an automobile window regulator system for operating side door window glass comprising a long screw mounted with a nut. fastened to a connecting plate engaged with a carrier plate, which is connected to the window glass. It is associated with the following advantageous features:- - Simple in construction and involves less number of parts comparatively. - Less power loss since the main drive in the invention employs a screw joint instead of a slider joint. - Lighter in weight comparatively as the invention includes more plastic parts and less metallic parts. - The invention is "workable irrespective of glass curvature as the curvature effect is compensated between the carrier plate and nut subassembly.
In the proposed invention, the side door window glass moves in hellical path
whereas the nut and connecting plate assembly drives'the glass to move' in
straight line path.
. , The combination of revolute joint between carrier plate and glass/fastener and
the sliding joint between carrier and the nutlconnecting plate gives the
flexibility to the glass to move in the hellical path in the run channels.
. .
'Advantageous Features
- Simple' in construction and involves less number of parts comparatively.
!
- Less power loss since the main drive in the invention employs a screw
I
I joint instead of a slider joint.
- Lighter in weight comparatively as the invention includes more plastic
parts and less metallic parts.
I - The invention is workable irrespective of glass curvature as the curvature
I effect is compensated between the carrier plate and nut subassembly.
1 It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art., Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims: -

glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the screw, end of
I which is connected to a prime mover for operation thereof, in which the
! prime mover includes handcrank and motor for manual and automatic
operation of the window glass respectively.
~ 7. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door window
glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein said window ~ glass, is provided with a plurality of fasteners along bottom edge thereof,
in which tubular end of each fastener accommodates an arm of said
carrier plate.
8. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door window
glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the carrier plate
is joined to the glass forming a revolute joint through which the entire
glass and fastener sub-assembly can rotate about the carrier plate in the
course of moving up and down.
9. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door window
glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims' wherein the carrier plate
is integrated to an engaging means that includes atleast two protruded
legs, ' which are engaged into the respective parallel slot of said
connecting plate and are free to slide along the slot in which the legs are
connected to the carrier plate by means of respective supporting
10. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door
window glassas claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein a cap is
snap fitted onto, the end of each of the protruded legs from bottom side.
- II, An automobile- widow rewlator system for-operating side door
window glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein one side
of the connecting plate is accommodated in a slot of the carrier plate,
outer profile of which is devised maintaining required clearance from the
adjacent parts.
12. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door
window glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the
engaging means comprises atleast two spherical joints with sliders at the
bottom surface of the carrier plate, in which the ball ended sliders slide
in the slots of the connecting plate, and the ball ends freely rotate in the
carrier plate inside spherical cavity of the joint.
13. An automobile window regulator system for operating side door
window glass as claimed in any of the preceding claims is associated with
the advantageous features such as herein described..
