It is associated with the following advantageous features:- - High contact span between headlining and B-pillar upper trim thereby causing better matching control to close the gap therebetween. - Absence of sharp edges prevents any damage on visible surface of headlining.
DESC:“B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for control of head lining/roof 5 lining fitment”
FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] This invention relates to B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for 10 control of head lining/roof lining fitment.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART
[002] It is commonly known that B-pillar upper trim (B) of vehicle is 15 provided in connection with headlining of ceiling (H) as illustrated in fig. 1. Now reference may be made to fig. 2 indicating Inner surface of B-pillar upper trim (T1) exposed to passengers and outer surface of the B-pillar (T2).
20
[003] B-pillar upper trim (T1 and T2) of vehicle is integrated with a plurality of ribs (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6) constituting matching control features so as to control the gap between headlining of ceiling and B-pillar upper trim by maintaining proper matching with roof lining. However owing to less thickness of the ribs, the contact area 25 between head lining (H) and ribs (R) of B-pillar upper trim is very
3
less, which may lead to gap (G) between headlining and B-Pillar upper trim as shown in fig. 1. This degrades aestheticness of vehicle.
[004] As a remedy to the above problem, the ribs should be made thicker. However, the thickness of the rib can’t be increased because 5 it would cause sink marks on the outer surface of B-pillar.
[005] Further, said ribs have sharp edges, which during assembly get entangled with the roof lining fabric and that’s why attempt to pull 10 the fabric thereby damaging the visible lining fabric. Thus, due to interference of ribs with head lining visible surface the probability of damage is high.
[006] In view of the above, the present invention introduces novel B-15 pillar upper trim of vehicle which can provide an effective solution to the existing problem of prior art. Some known patent/publication may be mentioned hereinbelow:-
20
[007] A prior art discloses an automobile B pillar upper fender assembly, which comprises a fender body, upper end of which forms a fan-shaped end with a buckle. A safety belt bore is provided at the upper end of the fender body, a counter bore is formed in the surface of the fender body, a safety belt sliding plate installation bore is 25 arranged inside the counter bore, and there is provision of a bolt installation bore at the lower end of the fender body.

CN102826051 (A)
[008] It is directed to an automobile B pillar trim panel assembly 5 which comprises a trim panel body fixed on an automobile B pillar with fixing mechanisms on both sides of the trim panel body to fix the same. As the fixing mechanisms are arranged on the edges of the trim panel body to fix the same, the same can be prevented from being warped. 10
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[009] An object of the present invention is to provide B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for control of head lining/roof lining fitment which 15 obviates shortcomings of known art.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for control of head lining/roof lining fitment which involves increased contact area between B-pillar upper trim 20 and head lining.
[0011] Further object of the present invention is to provide B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for control of head lining/roof lining fitment which improves aesthetic value of vehicle. 25

SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0012] According to this invention there is provided B-pillar upper trim of vehicle for control of head lining/roof lining fitment, upper 5 part of which comprising of a panel mounting with a locator on each side thereof.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS 5
[0014] The present invention imparts teaching regarding a technology pertaining to B-pillar upper trim of vehicle. The B-pillar upper trim of vehicle comprises panel mounting with a locator on each side thereof.
10
[0015] The aforesaid provision restricts movement of roof lining away from B-pillar upper trim so as to close the gap therebetween.
[0016] Profile of body panel of upper part of B-pillar upper trim is 15 governed by the factors listed hereinunder:-
[0017] Space available for B-pillar upper trim.
[0018] Styling of B-pillar upper trim. 20
[0019] Manufacturing tool for B-pillar upper trim.
[0020] Relying on the aforesaid parameters, the invention of proposed application has been devised. 25
7
5
[0021] Now, the following description will explain in detail only the B-pillar upper trim of vehicle, or more specifically and precisely only the upper part of said B-pillar upper trim comprising a panel mounting with a locator on each side thereof without illustrating further 10 constructional details of the B-pillar upper trim.
[0022] Now, reference may be made to fig. 3 illustrating one embodiment of invention. According to this exemplary embodiment, upper part of said B-pillar upper trim includes a panel mounting (1) 15 at an intermediate point thereof with a locator (2) on both sides as shown. The locator is having substantially U-section.
[0023] In addition to the above, atleast one rib (3) is placed in 20 proximity to each of the locators and also close to the upper corner (C) of the B-pillar on both sides thereof.
[0024] Further, the B-pillar upper trim has lower panel mounting (L) for mounting with side body panel of vehicle at the base of said B-25 pillar upper trim.
8
[0025] Also there are multiple mountings (M1, M2) on both left hand side and right hand side edge of the B-pillar upper trim in 5 longitudinal direction for establishing connectivity of the B-pillar upper trim with the side body panel of vehicle. Said mountings maintain a gap from each other along the edge.
[0026] Locator shape varies according to styling of B-pillar. Provision 10 of locator is effected so as to increase contact area between the B-pillar and roof lining, which leads to reduction in the gap therebetween.
[0027] It is therefore highly preferred to provide elongated locator for 15 augmenting the contact area, following which second embodiment of invention has been introduced. The same will be discussed with reference to fig. 4. Here, an elongated locator (4) is placed on both sides of panel mounting (1'). This locator possesses substantially L-section which is larger in size as compared to U-section locator 20 thereby giving rise to more contact area and serving the purpose more effectively.
[0028] Further, there is no rib at all in the upper part of said B-pillar 25 upper trim thus eliminating all prior ribs causing problems as mentioned under prior art.
9
[0029] Said locators on both sides of said panel mounting are symmetrical with respect to each other i.e. mirror image of each other.
[0030] The B-pillar upper trim constitutes a single structure, which 5 can be made of any polymer of plastic and fabricated by injection molding without restricting ambit of the invention to the same. Thus, other materials and methods readily apparent to a person skilled in the art are understood to be within scope of the invention.
10
Advantageous Features
[0031] High contact span between headlining and B-pillar upper trim thereby causing better matching control to close the gap therebetween. 15
[0032] Absence of sharp edges prevents any damage on visible surface of headlining.
[0033] It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to 20 modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:- ,CLAIMS:WE CLAIM:
