"Balance Drum Configuration For Compressor Rotors"
Abstract: Method and system for a rotary machine, e.g., a back-to-back compressor. A first section includes a first inlet duct, at least one first impeller and a first outlet duct. A second section includes a second inlet duct, at least one second impeller and a second outlet duct. The first section and second section share a common rotor. A first balance drum is disposed between the two sections, while a second section is disposed between the first inlet duct and the rotor. In a single section compressor, the balance drum can be disposed on the inlet side of an impeller rather than a discharge side.
