BANGLES;
VARUNA D. JAN I, AN INDIAN RESIDENT OF A-2, ASAVARI, VEER SAVARKAR MARG, MAHIM (W). MUMBAI-400016, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA;
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION DESCRIBES THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION:

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a bangle or a wrist mounting type portable ornamental
apparatus.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
Bangles or Chudi are Indian traditional ornaments worn by Indian women, especially
Hindus. Generally, they are circular in shape, and, unlike bracelets, are not flexible.They are made of numerous precious as well as non-precious materials such as gold, silver, platinum, glass, wood, ferrous metals, plastic, etc.
Bangles are part of traditional Indian jewelry. They are usually worn in pairs by women, one or more on each arm.
The designs range from simple to intricate handmade designs, often studded with precious and semi-precious stones such as diamonds, gems and pearls. Sets of expensive bangles made of gold and silver make a jingling sound. The imitation jewelry, tend to make a tinny sound when jingled.
Bangles are made from shell, copper, bronze, gold, agate, chalcedony etc. have been excavated from multiple archaeological sites throughout India.
There are two basic types of bangles: a solid cylinder type; and a split, cylindrical spring opening /closing type. Primary distinguishing factor for these is the material that is used to make the bangles. This may vary anything from glass to jade to metal to lac and even rubber or plastic. Bangles made from gold or platinum are the most expensive ones.
Another factor that adds to the price of the bangles is the artifacts or the work done further on the metal. This includes embroidery or small glass pieces or paintings or even small hangings that are attached to the bangles. The rareness of a color and its unique value also increase the value. Bangles made from lac are one of the oldest ones and among the brittle category too. Lac is clay like material which in molded in hot kilns-like places to make these bangles. Among the recent entrants are the rubber bangles that are worn more like a wrist band by youngsters while the plastic ones are there to add the trendy look.
However, once bangle made it comprises a single non exchangeable design which limits use of said bangle to be used for same matching dress only. Moreover, Indian women likes to use different designs bangles or do not like to repeat same design bangles for functions which leaves no option other than buying new designs for each time.
In today's day when the rate of gold has reached the sky it is becoming very difficult to keep investing in newer designs every day and keep up with the Ghanging fashion. Yet we always look forward to having variety in life. Bangles cost increases with their broad size generally cylindrical length about more than 10mm, the minimum gold weight would be at least 35-40gms and the diamond weight would be at least 10-12cts for a medium sized bangle.
Today's modern contemporary woman wants variety yet is very practical in life, she believes that ultimate value can be achieved only through versatility and the ultimate pleasure to adorn herself differently even/time and not confining jewellery behind lockers.
The bangles now running very successfully all over India are Bengali Bangle, where pure gold strip is thermo-mechanically fixed on bronze base, and all associated designs are done onto it. Though these bangles are cheaper than usual gold bangles, but it does not allow the user to change the designs as per his/her need and may
I

confine to the lockers after some period use. Further, there is always a risk of falling of gold strip from the bronze base.
Hence, there is always a need of bangles which allow change/exchange of the design of bangles as per the users' requirement and are cheaper.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, the present invention provides a bangle comprising atleast two cylindrical portions, each portion having a design on its upper surface and a plurality means for mating said cylindrical portion with each other to form a bangle wherein said bangle allows user to change the design as per his/her requirement by changing one of the cylindrical portion.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the bangle further comprises atleast one latching means to lock the cylindrical portion with each other.dvantageously, the latching means are provided in inner side of the bangle.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the cylindrical portion comprises a ring, and atleast one design circular plates adapted on the said ring and arranged in a male-female snap fitting arrangement for mating with each other.According to the present invention, each cylindrical portion comprises same number of design plates. Advantageously, each ring comprises three or four design circular plates.
According to another embodiment of the present invention, the means for mating are provided at atleast one of the edge of the cylindrical portions. Advantageously, the means for mating are provided at both edges of the cylindrical portions to form

different designs. According to the present invention mating surface can be of any shape such as triangular, wave, square, etc. and can be snap-fit together.
According to one embodiment of the present invention, the cylindrical portion has conical shape having means for mating provided at both edges in order to form convex or concave bangle.
According to the present invention, both cylindrical portions may comprise similar design pattern to form a bangle with an attractive design. Alternatively, both cylindrical portions may have different design patterns.
According to the present invention, bangles can be made from shell, copper, bronze, agate, chalcedony, plastic, steel, precious known metals such as gold, platinum etc and the present invention also allows making different combinations for example one cylindrical portion can be made of plastic and other can be made of gold
Figure 1 shows a bangle (100) according to one embodiment of the present invention through Figure 1A to 1C. Figure 1A shows two cylindrical portions (110, 120) according to one embodiment of the present invention. As show in Figures 1A and 1C, as per the present invention both cylindrical portions comprise four circular design plates (111, 121) adapted on a ring (112, 122) in such a way that the said circular design plates are appears like protruding from one of the sides of the ring. As shown in Figure 1B, the circular design plates are arranged or attached on the in a way that they will act as a male-female snap fitting arrangement for mating with each other to form a bangle as shown in Figure 1B.

Figure 1D shows the inner view of the circular design plates (111, 121) along with latching arrangement (150) wherein latch (152) on the plate (121) snap-fits in a pin (151) on the plate (111) thereby locking the cylindrical portions.
Figure 2 shows bangles (020, 250) according to another embodiment of the present invention through Figure 2A to 2C. Figure 2A shows that two cylindrical portions (210, 220) having conical shape means for mating (211, 221) on both edges. Figure 2B shows a concave bangle formed when higher diameter of cylindrical portions are coupled and Figure 2C a convex bangle (250) formed when smaller diameter of cylindrical portions (210, 220) are coupled.
Figure 2D shows a top view of one of the cylindrical portions comprising an inner latching means (250) to lock with other cylindrical portion. The user requires buying only one another type of cylindrical portion to change the design of his/her bangle.
The bangles of the present invention is the revolutionary concept whereby a bangle can be made to look completely different by buying an additional cylindrical portion and allows the user to update look entirely different even/time in just 1/3rd of the value of the bangle bought earlier.
