Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a battery cooling system (200) for a vehicle. The battery cooling system (200) includes a battery carrier (202), Phase Change Material (PCM) element(s) (204), a temperature sensor (206), and a controller (208). The battery carrier (202) accommodates at least one battery pack (154A; 154B). The PCM element(s) (204) are formed and positioned in a predefined manner surrounding the at least one battery pack (154A; 154B). The PCM element(s) (204) absorb heat in the battery carrier (202). The temperature sensor (206) senses a battery temperature of the at least one battery pack (154A; 154B). The controller (208) generates at least one control signal for controlling at least one operating parameter of the vehicle, when the battery temperature increases beyond at least one threshold temperature corresponding to the at least one battery pack (154A; 154B).
