Specification

Battery holding structure for Scooter type motorcycle

Field of invention:

The present invention relates to "Battery holding structure for Scooter type motorcycle" and more particularly battery mounting structure in a Scooter type motorcycle having an utility box below the seat.

Background of the invention:

A battery is provided in motorcycle to power the starter motor, the lights, and the ignition system of a vehicle's engine. In a conventional scooter type motorcycles, the battery is disposed in different locations of the body frame below the seat. This construction reduces the ground clearance and whenever vehicle passes over a hump on a road the battery may have an effect upon and get damaged.
Summary of the invention:

In order to eliminate the defects thus far described, it is an object of the present invention to provide a battery mounting structure in a scooter type motorcycle that inhibits a battery from being damaged. A battery is located in front of utility box in the vehicle direction in a battery holding structure. The lower portion of the front end of a utility box is engraved such a way to mount the battery holding structure on the upper portion of the front end of the said utility box through attaching means. A battery is fitted in the battery holding structure

In another aspect of the present invention involves a battery mounting structure in a
scooter type motorcycle comprising a battery holding structure hangs in front of utility
box without any support.

The battery holding structure is having metallic strips welded together in a rectangular
shape that supports the battery.

Further object of the present invention is to locate a battery such that it does not
interfere with packaging space.

Another object of the present invention is to locate battery such that it does not require
any additional battery clamp.

Further scope of applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the
detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of
the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and
modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those
skilled in the art from this detailed description.

Brief Description of the Drawings:

Figure 1: showing the left side view of the frame of the scooter type motorcycle with
utility box assembled.

Figure 2: is the front perspective view of the battery holding case.

Figure 3: is top perspective view of the battery holding case mounting in the utility box.

Figure 4: is the perspective view of the battery mounting case.

Detail description of the Drawings:

First the whole structure of the scooter type vehicle will be roughly described. The said scooter type motorcycle is provided with a vehicle supported by a front wheel and a rear wheel and the central portion of the vehicle body is curved to form a flat floor step portion. The rear portion of the vehicle body extends upwardly from the rear side of the floor step portion and a seat is disposed to the rear portion. A rider of the scooter type motorcycle sits on the seat with legs being on the floor step portion and hands gripping a handle.

Referring to figure 1 a frame structure of the scooter type motorcycle consists of one down tube or main pipe (101) connected to the head pipe (102). The said main pipe (101) extends rearwardly backward from the head pipe (102). A unit swing type engine is pivotally supported by the rear portion of the said main pipe (101) and a starts motor is disposed for the engine unit. The said main pipe (101) is provided with a horizontal portion on both sides of which are arranged step board base plates through a central attachment plate.

A utility box (103) is disposed below the seat of the scooter type vehicle. The said utility box (103) extends longitudinally along the frame of the vehicle and is disposed on the rear tubes of the vehicle substantially over the rear wheel. The said utility box (103) has a front end (201) and a rear end (202) (shown in figure 2).

Referring to figure 2 a battery (203) is located in front (201) of the said utility box in the vehicle direction in a battery holding case (204). The said battery holding case (204) is provided in a scooter type motorcycle that inhibits a battery from being damaged.

The lower portion of the front end (201) of a utility box is engraved such a way to mount
the battery holding case on the upper portion of the front end (201) of the said utility box
through attaching means. A battery is fitted in the battery holding case (204).

The battery mounting case (204) in a scooter type motorcycle hangs in front of utility
box without any support. In figure 4 it shows the structure of the battery mounting case
wherein it is provided with metallic strips which are welded together in a rectangular
shape that supports the battery.

Figure 3 shows the mounting points () of the battery mounting case on the front side of
the utility box.

Various modifications and adaptations may occur to those skilled in the art without
departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

We Claim:

1. A scooter type motorcycle having a body and equipped with a battery,
comprising:

a frame structure having rear frame tubes;

a utility box disposed on the rear frame tubes of said frame structure;

said battery includes a battery holding case having metallic strips welded
together in a rectangular shape to support the battery;

said battery holding case is operatively positioned in the front part of the said
utility box.

2. The scooter type motorcycle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said head frame structure comprises a head pipe through which steering column is inserted, a main pipe extending from the head pipe rearwardly backward and at least two rear tubes extending upwardly backwards from rear end of the main pipe.

3. The scooter type motorcycle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said utility box top is provided with the seat base.

4. The scooter type motorcycle as claimed in claim 3, wherein the said battery holding case is mounted to the utility box through attaching means.

5. The scooter type motorcycle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said utility box front end top portion is provided with mounting recess to which mounting case is mounted.
