Abstract: Disclosed is a battery module including a side plate that can satisfy the required rigidity in controlling swelling of battery cells and fixing the module on a side surface of the battery module. A battery module according to an aspect of the invention comprises: a cell assembly including a plurality of battery cells; a module tray configured to support the cell assembly; and a pair of side plates configured to cover one side and the other side of the cell assembly, respectively, wherein at least one of the pair of side plates comprises: a first sub-plate having a first flange portion protruding outward; and a second sub-plate which has a second flange portion protruding outward and disposed to overlap the first flange portion and which overlaps and is coupled to the first sub-plate.
