FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to shaping tool for metal sheet jobs. More
specifically, it relates to a bending tool, which may be used to hold and bend
metal sheet of various shape and size. Bending tool used to bend the metal
sheet in a manner that all reference surfaces given on sheet are in proper
position for the bending process.
.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention pertains to a shaping tool for holding metal sheet on work
bench and more particularly to a bending tool adapted to support metal sheet to
be bent. An object of this invention is the provision of new and improved bending
tool for metal sheets which is rigid, rugged, compact and capable of high
precision holding of metal sheet. This bending tool helps to minimize the setup
time and maximize the productivity.
SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a bending
tool that facilitates holding of a metal sheet on work bench and supporting the
surface of metal sheet thereof while the bending is done to a predetermined
shape and size.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a
bending tool for holding the job for accurate positioning of metal sheet on
bending block with respect to dialing face.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
bending tool for rigid clamping of metal sheet.
Annexure‐II
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
bending tool for metal sheet adapted to be fixed on the bending block of bending
tool.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
more rigid bending tool.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
lighter bending tool.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
bending tool that can be properly and effectively utilized to hold and firmly fix the
job by lesser skilled individuals.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent
and descriptive in the description when considered together with figures/flow
charts presented:
Fig.1 is a Top view of bending tool.
Fig.2 is a Sectional view of the bending tool.
Fig.3 is a Top view of clamp plate.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring to fig. 1, 2 & 3 present invention is a bending tool 6 used to hold
and position the metal sheet 5 and adapted for use on work bench. The bending
tool 6 is designed to hold a metal sheet 5 within dimensional tolerance with
respect to bending face of the tool 6.
Annexure‐II
Bending tool 6 for holding a metal sheet 5 comprises a bending block 1
having substantially flat top and bottom surface. It is made of high hardness steel
and can be used for various sheet jobs of different sizes. It also ensures that the
dimensions of the block 1 do not change under repeated application of force.
Also, one edge of the bending block is smoothened to provide a bending radius
of dimension ‘R4’ to the metal sheet 5.
The locating pins 2 are standard dowel pins. Two locating pins 2 are
provided for accurately holding the job 5 in position and restrict any rotational
movement in horizontal plane during the bending process. These pins 2 have
their centers positioned along the same axis to ensure proper alignment with
holes drilled in the job.
Clamp plate 3 is provided to restrict the movement of the sheet 5 in
vertical plane during the bending process. It can be used as a general clamp for
various types of bending jobs such as angles, brackets etc. The clamp plate 3 is
made of SRBF non-metallic material which does not damage the surface of the
job 5 and affix it firmly in place at the same time.
Allen screws 4 firmly press the clamp plate 3. Allen screws 4 provide the
required pressure to maintain job 5 in position and avoid any deformity that might
occur during conventional methods of bending. Both the Allen screws 4 are
aligned with their centers lying in the same axis and perpendicular to the axis of
the locating pins 2.

WE CLAIMS:-
Accordingly, the description of the present invention is to be considered as illustrative only and is for the purpose of teaching those skilled in the art of the best mode of carrying out the invention. The details may be varied substantially without departing from the spirit of the invention, and exclusive use of all modifications which are within the scope of the appended claims is reserved. We Claim
1. A tool for holding metal sheet and supporting the surface of sheet adapted to be positioned on work bench. The bending tool comprising:
- Two locating dowel pins positioned in the center which restrict the sideways movement of the job in horizontal plane and make the job rigid for performing the bending operation.
-The tool has one clamp plate held with two Allen screws located opposite to each other and aligned with same horizontal axis.
2. The tool for holding metal sheet of claim 1 wherein, the locating pins are placed with their centers aligned in the same horizontal axis.
3. The tool for holding metal sheet of claim 1 wherein, clamp plate is made of non-metallic material.
4. The tool for holding metal sheet of claim 1 wherein, the tool has two Allen screws that apply right amount of pressure on clamp plate and tighten the sheet job securely in place. ,TagSPECI:As per Annexure-II
