Abstract: A blockchain system and method to maintain the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges is disclosed. The data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges including the mark sheets of the students, certificates gained during extracurricular activities held in and outside the schools and colleges such as physical education, education related competitions like quiz, debates, speeches, and competitive exams like NTSE and so on can be recorded and stored. The educational records are saved in the blockchain system, which is recorded in the form of a list of transactions, where each data entry, retrieval etc., are considered as a transaction. A template is created in which the details of students is entered and the related educational certificates of the student is saved against their name which once saved cannot be altered.
Claims:1. The method of data management of the students’ educational certificates in the schools and colleges comprising:
a. gathering all the data related to the students in the schools and colleges;
b. creating a template to manage the data related to the educational certificates of the students in the schools and colleges;
c. updating the template with the information related to the students after each competition; and
d. retrieving the information related to any student by the school management using the blockchain system;
wherein, the template is used to collect all the information related to the students’ in the schools and colleges including name of the student, class in which they are studying, competitions attended, result of the competitions, marks sheets, certificates, which is saved in the block chain system where the data is distributed and replicated into multiple records which are shared on the network.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the system creates a secure platform which records every transaction made which is inalterable.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the recorded data of the students educational certificates from the schools and colleges are distributed and replicated into various blocks where the blocks are shared among the members of the network;
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the transactions are displayed in the form of a list where each and every updated transaction of every book is displayed.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the system enables tracing the information and status of the book by the staff members of the educational institution who are the members of the network.
6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the system can also be used to manage the attendance data of the students.
, Description:Technical field of the Invention
The present invention generally relates to the systems and methods used to manage the data of schools and colleges. More particularly, the present invention is related to the use of block chain system and method in managing the data of schools and colleges which can include the information related to the marks sheets and certificates of the students.
Background of the Invention
A schools and colleges have numerous students who appear for tests and examinations, for the purpose of getting promoted to the next higher class. Higher the number of students in the schools and colleges, the amount of data which is generated will be higher, which creates a need for proper management system. Also the data of the students in the schools and colleges which can include the certificates, are highly confidential as they can be misused by the miscreants, which leads to origin of several racquets, where the miscreants can use the certificates to loot money from other students who require fake certificates for various purposes.
The management of the confidential data of the students is highly essential, as it has a huge impact on them when it comes to their career point of view. There are several systems which are in use, to mainly maintain the data of the students in the schools and colleges. The traditional system which was used by the schools and colleges is the physical paper form of the marks sheets and certificates of the test and exams the students appear in. The management of the papers is a tedious task and require more staff for the same work. The main disadvantage of this system is that the marks sheets and certificates are highly prone to misplacing and even theft.
The next generation system which was used by the schools and colleges is the use of computer system to manage the data. The data of the students i.e. the class they are in, the marks obtained, whether promoted or not, etc, can be saved in the computer systems, whose management i.e. saving and retrieval of the data is comparatively easy compared to the traditional method. But the use of computer systems in the data management of the student’s educational records poses high threat as the data can be can be easily stolen by the people who are expert in the computer usage, and can use the data against the students or for their personal benefits.
Therefore in order to manage the students’ educational records in the schools and colleges, there is a need for a secure system and method which can save, retrieve, and track the data of the students’ educational records. .
Objectives of the Invention
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a block chain system and method to maintain the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a block chain system and method to maintain the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges, which can record and maintain the data related to the marks sheets of the students generated during internal tests and examinations, certificates gained during extracurricular activities held in schools and outside schools, certificates of students in the competitive examinations and so on.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention provides a block chain system and method to maintain the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges. With the help of the present invention, the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges can be recorded and maintained and stored which can include the data related to the marks sheets of the students generated during internal tests and examinations, certificates gained during extracurricular activities held in and outside the schools and colleges such as physical education including volley ball, throw ball, basketball, shot-put, discus throw, 100 m race, 500m race, and so on, education related competitions like quiz, debates, speeches, and so on, and various competitive exams like NTSE and so on. The present invention aims at providing an improved system which can save the data of the students securely which can be tracked.
According to the present invention, the blockchain technology is used in the data management of students’ educational records in the schools and colleges, where the educational records like marks sheets and certificates are saved in the blockchain system, which can tracked at any time. The data which is recorded in the system is mainly in the form of a list of transactions, where each data entry, retrieval etc., are considered as a transaction. The history of all the transactions which are made through the block chain system can be managed. The data which is created, saved and managed through the system is more transparent, secure and inalterable. The information which is recorded in the system is distributed and saved in the blocks of the block chain, and is saved in the server. The saved data is distributed into various blocks which are secure and which once entered cannot be altered.
The present invention creates a template for recording the data of the students in the schools and colleges which can include the marks sheets and various certificates. Initially, a template is created using the blockchain system, where the name of the student is entered and the related educational certificates of the student is saved against their name which once saved cannot be altered. The details of the student i.e. name, class etc., are filled in the created template by the school staff, which can be viewed by the members of the educational institution. Once all the details of the students are entered in the template, the template is saved in the system. The links for each student are provided in the template, which can be accessed by the members of the educational institution for accessing the information related to the student.
All the data related to a students’ is stored in the block chain system permanently, and is distributed and replicated into various blocks, which is shared among the members of the network. A block chain can have connectivity with multiple number of nodes and create a network, which are connected with each other. The data alteration or change can be carried out at each node of the block chain, where each block of the block chain represents a list of transactions and a hash to the previous block, except for the first block.

The present invention provides a block chain system and method to maintain the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges. With the help of the present invention, the data related to the educational records of the students in the schools and colleges can be recorded and maintained and stored which can include the data related to the marks sheets of the students generated during internal tests and examinations, certificates gained during extracurricular activities held in and outside the schools and colleges such as physical education including volley ball, throw ball, basketball, shot-put, discus throw, 100 m race, 500m race, and so on, education related competitions like quiz, debates, speeches, and so on, and various competitive exams like NTSE and so on. FIG 1 is the flowchart describing the data management of the students’ educational certificates in the schools and colleges. Referring to FIG 1, the information related to the educational certificates of the students in the schools and colleges are gathered together which are entered in the template created using the blockchain system. The created template is updated with the information related to the student i.e. name, class, marks sheets, competitions attended, result of the competition, certificates, etc. When the school management wants to retrieve any data i.e. the marks sheets or certificates of a particular student, then the data can be retrieved at any instant by posting a query using the blockchain system. Any query made through the blockchain system related to a student, is recorded in the form of a transaction which can be tracked by the members of the network i.e. the members of the educational institution.
According to the present invention, the blockchain technology is used in the data management of students’ educational records in the schools and colleges, where the educational records like marks sheets and certificates are saved in the blockchain system, which can tracked at any time. The data which is recorded in the system is mainly in the form of a list of transactions, where each data entry, retrieval etc., are considered as a transaction. Additionally, the blockchain system can also be used to maintain the attendance data of the students, where the students having the attendance below the set limit can be categorized and further action can be taken.
The present invention can be used to save the data of the student’s educational certificates including the marks sheets of every internal tests and exams, and other examinations; debates; essays; competitions in the physical activities; competitive exams like NTSE, KVPY, HBBVS, NSO, UCO, NSTSE, MTSE, IMO, NLSTSE, NSEJS, SSTSE, SLSTSE, IOS, RMO, IOM, IOEL, NSEB, NSEP, NSEC, NSEA, ZIO, IIO, NCO, NIMO, NBTO, GeoGenius, KO, SCYGANLSTSE, ASSET and IAIS and many more.
All the data related to a students’ is stored in the block chain system permanently, and is distributed and replicated into various blocks, which is shared among the members of the network. The present invention discloses the block chain design, which is resistant to modification of the saved data. The open and distributed records each and every transaction that has happened between two parties with high efficiency. The entered data is easily verifiable and saved permanently. Once the data is recorded in the system in the form of blocks, it cannot be altered retroactively, and cannot be changed or altered, without alteration of all subsequent blocks, which requires permission of the handlers of majority of the blocks. This makes the blocks highly suitable for recording of the data of record management which should be highly resistant for any alteration.

The main advantage of the present invention is that as block chain system is used in data management of the students’ educational certificates where the data is secure, transparent and verifiable.
Another advantage of the present invention is that the system makes the data inalterable without the consent of all the people who are taking care of the nodes i.e. the members of the educational institution.
Yet another advantage of the present invention is that all the information related to the students’ educational certificates are available at one place, which can be retrieved by any member of the network at any time.
