PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention is related to design of structure for rear engine mounted vehicle to achieve desired dynamic stiffness at engine attachment location for meeting noise, vibration and harness (NVH) requirements. This talks about unconventional but compact, cost effective, packaging friendly, tower type, well supported on load body floor within its cross members, etc. design concept of body side engine mounting bracket for one of the attachment locations for power train.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Isolation of vehicle structure from engine induced forces depends much on dynamic stiffness at engine attachment location on body. Both global stiffness of vehicle structure and local stiffness of attachment area govern the dynamic stiffness at given attachment location. The conventional design schemes of body side mounting brackets for engine attachments consists of bracket being directly supported on or from the long members or being directly supported on cross members with ends supported on long members. This introduces weakness in bracket design due to its inherent overhang or offset and also designs being not so cost effective & packaging friendly.
OBJECTIVES OF INVENTION
The main objective of the invention is to achieve desired dynamic stiffness at engine attachment location on vehicle structure.
Another objective of the invention is to improve other performance parameters as offshoot benefit like e.g. stiffness at other attachment locations, floor sag performance etc.
Yet another objective of the invention is to make the design compact and packaging friendly by eliminating use of cross member and reduce cost.

In order to achieve the objects mentioned above, a compact design of engine mount bracket which eliminates use of cross member and which gets supported directly on load body floor within load body floor cross members is proposed.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The embodiments herein provide a body side engine mounting structure for vehicles, comprising a front cross member and rear cross member connected between a long members 10 and 11 of vehicle. A short long member 3 is connected between said front cross member 4 and rear cross member 5. A tower assembly 1,2 is connected to short long member 3 and front cross member 4 for mounting said engine. The front 4 and rear 5 cross member provided for mounting said tower assembly 1, 2 is supported directly on load body floor 6. According to present invention said tower assembly 1,2 is provided at middle of vehicle width and supported at its end by front 4 and rear 5 cross members. The tower assembly 1,2 includes a bell shaped bracket 1 which is closed by shoe shape brackets 2 on both sides. The short long member 3 includes a lateral diaphragm 7 to improve foot print stiffness of tower in lateral directions. The front 4 and rear cross 5 member includes a longitudinal diaphragm 8 and 9 to improve the stiffness in longitudinal direction.
The shoe shape closing brackets 2 added on both sides of bell shaped bracket 1 are welded to front cross member 1 and short long member 3 to provide additional stiffness in vertical and longitudinal directions. The short long member 3 is formed such that its front end and rear deeper end gets well integrated with front cross member 4 and rear cross member 5 respectively through three face welding and also to floor of the vehicle. According to present invention a tower assembly 1, 2 can also be connected to only short long member for mounting said engine. The tower assembly 1,2 can also be connected to said front cross member and said tower arrangement extending till rear cross member for mounting said engine.

STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to the present invention an engine mounting structure for vehicles, comprising; a front cross member and rear cross member connected between long members of said vehicle; a short long member connected between said front cross member and rear cross member; a tower assembly connected to said short long member and said cross member for mounting said engine.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
Figure 1 shows the bottom view of the arrangement Figure 2 shows the top view of the arrangement
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same,
Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the design scheme for one of the body side engine mount bracket which consists of a front cross member 4 and a rear cross members 5 connected between long members 10 and 11 of the vehicle chassis frame. A short long member 3 is connected between said front cross member 4 and rear cross member 5. A tower arrangement is welded to short long member 3 located at middle of vehicle width and supported at its end by floor cross members in front 4 and 5 in rear. The tower arrangement is connected to short long member 3 and front cross member for mounting the engine. According to present invention the tower arrangement includes a bell shaped bracket 1 which is closed by shoe shape brackets 2 on both of its sides. The short long member 3 is provided with lateral diaphragm 7 to improve foot print stiffness of tower in lateral directions. Both the cross members i.e. front 4 and rear 5 are provided with longitudinal diaphragms 8 and 9 respectively to improve the stiffness in longitudinal direction. Shoe shape

closing brackets 2 added on both sides of bell shaped bracket are also welded to front cross member 4 and short long member 3 to provide additional stiffness in vertical and longitudinal directions. The short long member 3 is formed such that its front end and rear deeper end gets well integrated with front cross member 4 and rear cross member 5 respectively through three face welding and also to floor of the vehicle 6. All these members together give good structural integrity to achieve desired dynamic stiffness target at the engine attachment location. The engine is also mounted to other three body side bracket supported either on main long member or cross member through cradle or any other suitable means.
Alternatively the tower arrangement can be connected only to short long member or short long member and one of the cross member thereby reducing the length of the tower assembly for better packaging.
ADVANTAGES
• The engine mounting structure according to present invention is provided to achieve the desired dynamic stiffness at engine attachment location on vehicle structure.
• Another objective of the invention is to improve other performance parameters as offshoot benefit like e.g. stiffness at other attachment locations, floor sag performance etc.
• The engine mounting structure is compact and packaging friendly by eliminating use of additional cross members and hence reduces cost.
• The compact design of engine mount bracket eliminates use of cross member and gets supported directly on load body floor within load body floor cross members is proposed.
