Abstract: Bumpers are fitted on the front and rear of the vehicle to give better safety for the vehicle body. It is usually having the same profile of the vehicle at front and back. The bumpers are fixed by bolting to the tie members. During service conditions there are chances that bumper get misaligned with the side bonnet outer at front and body side outer at the rear. Due to this misalignment non uniform gaps are created between bumper and the side bonnet outer resulting in a shabby look at the bumper joining edges. In order to avoid this problem, this invention provides for the use of a bumper fitment with a same profile as the mating parts and with appropriate provisions for easy pre-location, holding and final fixing onto the body. The fitment ensures that movements in horizontal and vertical directions are restricted thereby ensuring a firm location.

PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification describes the invention
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a fitment and a method of fixing of bumper for maintaining gap between bumper and mounting panel in vehicle service condition.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Bumpers are fitted on the front and rear of the vehicle to give better safety for the vehicle body. It is usually having the same profile of the vehicle at front and back. The front bumper connected to the tie member and to the side bonnet outer and the rear bumper connected to the rear cross member and body side outer rear. The bumpers are fixed by bolting to the above connecting members. During service conditions there are chances that bumper get misaligned with the side bonnet outer at front and body side outer at the rear. Due this misalignment a gap between bumper and the side bonnet outer widened or narrowed to form a non-uniform gap between these elements. The non-uniformity creates shabby look at the bumper joining edges.
OBJECTS OF INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to provide a fitment which can hold the bumper edges to the side bonnet outer or rear body side outer of the vehicle and maintain a uniform gap during the service condition of the vehicle
Another object of the present invention is to easily fix the bumpers at its final position by providing a fitment which can hold bumper edges to the side bonnet outer.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Referring to figure 1,
the fitment is having a profile same as that of side outer bonnet of the vehicle and outer edge of the bumper. Further fitment (1) is provided with holes to fix to the side outer bonnet (3) and protrusions acting as leg for snap fit the bumper edge (2) . The fitment is having upper and lower flanges (4,4') at the top portion which can hold the bumper edge (2) to restrict movement of the same. The bumper edge provided with slots to snap fit to the fitment. The fitment is connected to the side outer bonnet by bolting through the holes (5) provided on the fitment. After connecting the fitment to the side bonnet outer, bumper snap fitted to the fitment by keeping the edges between the upper and lower flanges at the upper portion of the fitment. By snap fitting protrusions (6) on fitment get locked with slots provided on the bumper edge. After mounting bumper to the side bonnet outer of the vehicle by using the fitment, other connecting elements are tightened fixed to firmly hold the bumper to the tie member. The rear bumper is also mounted on to the rear body side outer and to the rear cross member as explained before. The fitment is connected to the rear body side outer by bolting, and then the bumper mounted to the fitment by snap fitting by keeping the bumper edges between the upper and lower flanges of the fitment. Then the bumper is connected to the rear cross member.
By using fitment the bumper final position can be fixed easily by a snap fitment and then final connecting to the tie or cross member can be done. The fitment gives easy fixing of the bumpers also maintain uniform gap between the body
side outer during servicing conditions. The upper and lower flanges on the fitment restrain the movement of the bumper in upward and downward positions.
The foregoing description is a specific embodiment of the present invention. It should be appreciated that this embodiment is described for purpose of illustration only, and that numerous alterations and modifications may be practiced by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is intended that all such modifications and alterations be included insofar as they come within the scope of the invention as claimed or the equivalents thereof.
