"Butt Joint Using Reinforced Adhesives"
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of joining two pipes in a butjoint configuration means of a reinforced adhesive. The method comprises reinforcing an adhesive used to join components in the butt join configuration to enhance the strength and rigidity of the butt joint. The method comprises impregnating a balanced glass fabric with an adhesive resin, winding multiple layers of the impregnated balanced glass fabric around the joining interface of the two pipes and then allowing curing to bind the multiple layers of the glass fabric together. The method of present inventions provides for the joining of components of dissimilar material such as polymers, ceramic, ferrous and non ferrous materials. The method can be employed to join components of different cross section, thickness and coefficients of thermal expansion in a butt joint configuration.
