PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to crash safety system and more particularly it relates to the cab mounting with rear cabin stopper for vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Modern truck cabins are located at a higher location from the chassis frame. Therefore the cabin to suspension attachments, known as cab mounts, are taller. In event of frontal impact forces, these taller cab mounts are subjected to higher bending moments under the influence of the frontal impact forces, leading to the bending of cab mounts. Depending on their strength the cab mounts will either deform or rupture. Such weak behaviour of the cab mounts results into excessive & uncontrolled cabin deformations and/or displacements against the chassis frame. Such cabin deformations lead to serious bodily injuries to the cabin occupants. Therefore the cab mounts are required to be made stronger to withstand these impact forces. Improving strength of cab mounts involves additional cost, space, weight and loss of standardisation.
Therefore the present invention involves provision of stopper at the rear end of the cabin vertically parallel to the cab mounts. These stopper brackets provide an additional load path to the frontal impact forces and reduce loads on the cab mounts. Therefore it eliminates need for a heavier & costlier cab mounts.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide cab mountings with cabin stopper at the rear end for vehicles to reduce loads on the cab mounts in the event of frotal impacts.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide cab mountings with cabin stopper at the rear end for vehicles to reduce loads on the cab mounts in the event of frotal impacts which is simple in construction and cost effective.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In accordance with the present invention,
Cab mountings with rear cabin stopper for vehicles comprises; front and rear mounting means for mounting cabin, the front and rear mounting means are attached to the chassis frame of vehicle, stopper bracket member is provided vertically on chassis frame behind the said rear cabin mounting means such that said stopper bracket member provide an alternate loadpath between the cabin and said chassis frame facilitating reduced load on the said rear cabin mounting means and thereby controlling their deformation during frontal impact.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring now to the drawings wherein the showings are for the purpose of illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention only, and not for the purpose of limiting the same.
Figure - 01 shows side view of a truck cabin installed on a chassis frame,
Figure - 02 shows rear end view of rear mountings of a truck cabin,
Figure - 03 shows side view of a truck cabin under the influence of impact forces
from the front,
Figure - 04 shows side view of a truck cabin provided with a stopper bracket in
accordance with this invention,
Figure - 05 shows rear view of a truck cabin provided with a stopper bracket in
accordance with this invention,
Figure - 06 shows side view of a truck cabin provided with a stopper bracket in
accordance with this invention under the influence of impact forces from the front
Now refering to figure-01 to 06, in accordance with present invention,
Cab mountings with rear cabin stopper for vehicles comprises; front (2) and rear (3)
mounting means for mounting cabin (1) , the front and rear mounting means are
attached to the chassis frame (4) of vehicle, stopper bracket member (5) is provided vertically on chassis frame behind the said rear cabin mounting means such that said stopper bracket member provide an alternate loadpath between the cabin and said chassis frame facilitating reduced load on the said rear cabin mounting means and thereby controlling the deformation during frontal impact.
The truck cabin (1) attached to the chassis frame (4) through front (2) and rear (3) cab mountings.
Stopper bracket members (5) are provided at the rear end of the said cabin in order to control the deformation of said cabin (1). The said auxiliary stopper bracket member (5) is provided vertically parallel to the said rear cab mountings (3). A predetermined gap (6) is maintained between the rear end of the cabin and the top of the said stopper bracket member (5) so that the said stopper bracket member (5) does not interfere with the movement of said cabin (1) during normal driving conditions.
Said stopper bracket member (5) provides an alternate loadpath between the said cabin (1) and said chassis frame (4). Due to the alternate load path, the load on the said cab mounts (2,3) is reduced and their deformation is controlled.
