Specification

The present invention generally relates to a system that provides the user with self-assessing and career enhancing strategies. More particularly, the present invention deals with a system and method for managing career transition which provides a customizable approach to its users during transition on a professional level, that is in any stage of career transition from learning to work.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[002] In this constantly changing world, underemployment and unemployment creates a major havoc. This can either be a result of the increasing competition among individuals or due to the mismatch of an individual’s career goals. More common amongst which arise when the educational choices of an individual are not aligned with the opportunities available in the service industries and hence it has become a challenging issue for young career-oriented individuals to search for jobs that are in line with their qualification and/or are based on their choice of interest. Thus, most of the people in this era are often seen struggling with unemployment or underemployment.

[003] Another concern in the present scenario is the involvement of underutilized workforce which not only leads to scarring effects on the minds of today’s youth, but also depreciates their confidence level because of their unused qualification and skills. Currently in many countries, the mismatch due to over-qualification is on the rise while there are fewer instances of mismatch due to under-qualification of a candidate.

[004] Thus, there has been an implementation of numerous types of career-oriented platforms to maintain an employment balance based on qualification of an individual, out of which, Virtual Mock or VMock as disclosed in US Application US20190272503A1 is an internet-based method and apparatus for career-oriented development of an individual. VMock provides a virtual profile for the candidates that includes resume, text, video and a document.
[005] Another such career planning tool as explained in US20050114203A1 includes system, products and methods for planning career paths for an individual wherein only the job roles and career qualifications have been taken into account and assessment of an individual’s career occurs on the basis of assessment of previous work profile i.e. roles handled and qualification of an individual.

[006] Similarly, US20030177027A1 relates to a talent and career management system and method that help organizations analyze talent by means of computer-aided visualization and performs analysis of preferences, interests and career paths of an individual. A visual history of career path is created based on historical information i.e. work profile, job roles, specialization, knowledge, skillset, etc. which is being collected for an individual via graphical views. On the basis of such vital information, a visual resume is prepared and self-assessment of an individual is performed.

[007] However, none of the career planning systems and methods defined so far involves the use of performance based analysis and interest based assessment for an individual neither do they direct individuals with a plurality of career choices based on the self-assessment being performed.

[008] Thus, there is a need for developing a system which identifies development needs by creating an individual’s career development plan and connecting with like-minded individuals for guidance for a successful education and career pathway. The present invention not only connect learning decisions to work and students to other stakeholders, but also provides opportunities for relevant learning, skilling, training, mentoring, guidance, support, internship, externship programs directly or through partnership with educators, skill development institutes, e-learning platforms, corporates, professionals. The present invention not only provides self- assessment of an individual but also directs them with a plurality of career choices through career guidance and support services.

[009] Therefore, keeping in view the limitations related to the state of the art and to overcome the need of having a system that enables users to not only opt for the best career path but also flourish in the right direction, there is a requirement to develop such system basis which the users can follow a customizable approach to build up an efficient goal oriented guidance based career clustering module where self-assessment can also be provided based on certain personality traits and skill evaluation.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0010] The primary objective of the present invention is to develop a system for an individual which enables access to quality information for relevant career selection and provides exposure to the opportunities available in their related area of expertise while they are pursuing their education.

[0011] Another objective of the present invention is to provide users with self-assessment and personality analysis, thereby enabling a better understanding related to their area of expertise, knowledge, likes, dislikes, etc. Once assessment gets performed, individuals are allowed to search, explore, shortlist, compare and finalize their career and academic goals.

[0012] Yet another objective of the present invention is to help users by providing them with an in-depth understanding of learning and job opportunities in line with their selected career options.

[0013] Yet another objective of the present invention is to enable users to create separate action plans for exposure, learning and extra-curricular interests by helping them manage their exposure plan, learning plan and focus on extra-curricular interests including learning management and participation.

[0014] Yet another objective of the present invention is to enable network establishment and its management by allowing the employers, educators, governments and other stakeholders to witness, participate, connect and guide an individual during career transitions.

[0015] Other objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein, by way of illustration and example, the aspects of the present invention are disclosed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0016] The present invention provides young individuals with interest based career pathways based on prior analysis and assessment of their knowledge, likes, dislikes, skillsets, area of expertise, etc. In an embodiment, the system disclosed in the present invention is capable of providing users with self-assessing and career enhancing strategies. In another embodiment, the method disclosed in present invention enables individuals for managing career transition by maintaining user profiles, managing information and resources, outlining career and academic goals, identifying development needs, creating an individual development plan to close gaps and exploring/ searching for potential career opportunities while implementing the career plan. [0032] The present invention provides a method and system for managing transition in career which provides a customizable approach to an individual during transition in career or while selecting a profession (i.e. in any stage from learning to work). The method and system disclosed in present invention enables individuals/users to analyze their career interests by building up an efficient goal oriented assessment based platform which also enables an individual with career guidance and support services to manage their professional life and career. The system discussed herein may be capable of mapping all stages and activities involved in the career planning process and provides a method for maintaining user profiles, managing information and resources, outlining career and academic goals, identifying development needs, creating an individual development plan to close gaps and exploring/ searching for potential career opportunities while implementing the career plan.

[0033] The system may also provide guidance to individuals seeking transition in their existing career based on their personal interest and world of work.

[0034] In embodiments described herein, the creation of career transition system begins with all possible tasks in career transition management combined together as steps. Each step has a clearly identified input, activity and output. The steps with linked/related activities/outcomes are grouped together in a module and modules are further grouped together in programs. The career transition management system consists of a plurality of working steps, modules and programs that are involved in implementing the career selection plan of an individual.

[0035] In an embodiment of the present invention, the user enters valid credentials to the user registration module. User credentials may include but are not limited to user name (first name, last name), email id, birth date, mobile number and password. User enters details and the user authentication module validates the details in the user database and generates a one-time password using which the registration process completes. After registration, a message appears to login using registered credentials.

[0036] The present invention may include a user display interface. The interface provides an easy GUI (graphical user interface) to access the career transition management system.

[0037] User may login into the system by accessing the display interface and with the help of user login module wherein registered mobile number or email id along with registered password gets entered and then maintain their profile wherein special career analysis based on assessment and interests gets performed. Figure 1 represents a flow diagram indicating the user registration and login module.

[0038] As depicted in flow diagram of Figure 2, after logging into the career transition system, user may manage their profiles, add personal and professional details, perform a self-assessment, enter details related to career and academic goals and manage network based on their assessment and career choices.

[0039] In an embodiment, users may manage their profiles in the profile management module by filling necessary details which may include but are not limited to educational background, work experience, volunteering, internships, externship, sports activities and other interests if any. The details entered in the profile management module may be used to create a career oriented professional looking resume which may increase the chances for an individual to be shortlisted for a job of their own preference.

[0040] The profile management module comprises a personal detail sub-module where the user can add/update their personal details and increase chances of better career guidance both for learning and job opportunities.

[0041] The present invention also consists of a user database, which is a storage module that enables capturing of data and its retrieval to store details related to each entered data in career transition management system. The information stored in database is referred as master data which is managed by “Database Management System”. The master data includes information related to location i.e. cities, localities, and countries etc. It may also store details related to subscription selected using transition management platform; a list of Institution: Schools, Colleges, Corporates, Government, Training Institutes, skilled and professional jobs, options related to self-employment, business, start-up, entrepreneurial; personal details of users, their interest, career and academic goals, etc.

[0042] Users can also perform self-analysis of their interests and learning/ work choices by performing self-assessment based on career clustering and RIASEC analysis. Career clusters as represented in Figure 3 enables user to group career choices which may be used for career exploration to find the best career match. Further, cluster based analysis provides the user with top three clusters based on a survey which contains a plurality of sections and sub-sections which may include but are not limited to activities based on user likes, personal qualities and study subjects.

[0043] The cluster analysis gets performed based on user’s interest and choices i.e. user likes, personal qualities and study related subjects. On the basis of the cluster analysis, a cluster analysis report gets generated, a plurality of career cluster gets listed and relevant career pathways are suggested to the users.

[0044] Further as shown in Figure 4, the present invention also discloses a system to perform personality based evaluation. Personality refers to the combination of qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character. Personality involves genetic traits but it is also developed through life experience. Personality traits can have a major influence on how well suited a person is to a certain career. If an individual can find a career that aligns with his or her personality, this can enable the individual to feel genuinely fulfilled. Thus, in order to analyze personality of an individual, RIASEC personality assessment may be performed which provides a simple framework linking people’s personalities to learning and career choices.

[0045] RIASEC assessment as shown in Figure 4, enables classification of user interests and career pathways based on a plurality of personality traits that may include but are not limited to Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E), and Conventional (C). People of the same personality working together create an environment that fits their type. An exemplary embodiment may suggest that social types creates social environment. Individuals search for environments where they may use their skills and abilities and express their values and attitudes. Thus, people who choose to study and work in an environment similar to their personality type are seen more likely to be successful and satisfied.

[0046] The present invention provides RIASEC personality analysis similar to the cluster based analysis. The RIASEC analysis enables users to perform a survey based on self-assessment of their capabilities, likes or dislikes and generates report for each individual by providing valid RIASEC test.

[0047] The reports generated by the system based on cluster survey and personality analysis may include a series of data/charts/graphs capturing details related to profile, interests, choices, action plan and progress. Moreover, these reports disclose students’ interests and then provide statistics related to geography, age, education, occupational choices, etc. These reports provide user with an assessment result, future action plans, progress review, and also assist them in admission based information management.

[0048] Further, as shown in Figure 5 and 6, the present invention also enables individuals to plan, add, explore, shortlist, compare and finalize their academic and career goals based on their preferred area of learning and work which further helps individuals to make the correct choices in their career by prior analysis of existing opportunities as per their specialization, knowledge and skillset.

[0049] The present invention is also capable of providing workflow management that enables management of tasks and workloads as required during the career transition process. The task management and workloads for a user may get accessed or managed by the counsellor. The counsellor can also view individual’s area of interest, career and academic goals and plans and participate through facilitators. The counsellor may also add the task options to the student’s workflow plan.

[0050] The counsellor dashboard disclosed in the present system may have access to a list of individuals and can view their detailed particulars such as name, highest qualification, institution details, city, email, phone number, parents/ guardian’s details (name, phone number, etc.). When the counsellor selects details of a particular student, the action plan and activities performed by that individual can also be viewed which helps them to provide suggestions in an efficient manner.

[0051] Further, as depicted through Figure 7, the present invention provides individuals to establish a network with the counselor of their choice and area of expertise wherein they are provided with an option to select a counselor and send an invitation request. If the requested counselor accepts the invitation request they will be connected and form a mutual network. Thus, the present invention provides user with an opportunity to select and connect with counsellors/ mentors of their choice and may then seek guidance from them.

[0052] Further, the present invention also enables individuals to perform project management and helps them collaborate, communicate and provide knowledge for effective career transition management. The participants may include stakeholders from family, education and work. Individuals may connect with these participants for effective career transition management as they provide them with relevant guidance, information and support.

[0053] The participants that provide special career guidance may also include parents of those individuals and can help individuals during their career transition. Thus, this provides a platform for parents to monitor the progress of their ward/child/individual only by creating their registered login id in the system and can validate and approve career choices of their ward.

[0054] Further, the present invention also enables user to connect with any educator on the basis of interest or area of expertise. The educator can participate in career transition management process through mentoring, sharing relevant programs and providing necessary information related to admissions while selecting area of learning. Moreover, the present invention also enables users to connect with various employers on the basis of interest and experience of these participants. These employers can provide guidance to individuals by organizing informative sessions and other events. The employers can also share their experiences during internship, externship or on role job and may also discuss the various challenges that might arise while pursuing a career.

[0055] The user may also search for information related to any institute or government organization which can then be compared, shortlisted or enrolled while pursuing learning. The institute/government may also access an individual’s learning and work related statistics and can also download the customized dashboards and reports. Based on the accessed information from the relevant agencies (for example institute/government), the system can share the employment and learning information and can send the critical industry broadcast messages.

[0056] Further, the present invention has an inbuilt “Intelligence System” and analytics application which enables individuals in transition and all stakeholders to obtain actionable information by way of exploring, creating and visualizing data in the form of reports and dashboards.

[0057] In another embodiment, the career transition management system provides details of the occupation options/learning fields based on the current market/industry requirements and government policies. Based on his interest, aptitude, the individual can select the career option.

[0058] As shown in Figure 8, the users can also view and manage new notification messages through the notification management module such that they can manage the connection requests and validate their connections and provide further guidance and service support to the individuals so that special career guidance can seek for enhancing career performance.

[0059] Further, the method disclosed in present invention helps users/ individuals in maintaining user profiles, managing information and resources, outlining career and academic goals, identifying development needs, creating an individual development plan to close gaps and exploring/ searching for potential career opportunities while implementing the career plan.

[0060] The method disclosed herein also enables managing user information and subscription related information into database; generating assessment reports based on analysis performed for career clustering analysis and personality trait analysis; providing guidance and support services to the individuals; enabling workflow management to manage tasks and workloads of individuals; managing a network based on connection requests sent and received; managing notification messages and connection request.

[0061] Thus, the system and method disclosed in present invention not only connect learning decisions to work and students to other stakeholders, but also provides opportunities for relevant learning, skill development, providing training, mentoring, guidance, support, internship, externship programs directly or through partnership with educators, skill development institutes, e-learning platforms, corporates, professionals.
