This invention relates to audio & video communication and particularly to a
cellular, wireless and IP based interactive multimedia system and service with
quad -play. More particularly, this invention is related to integration of live video
calls whereby a low cost, highly reliable as well as high quality video integration
is achieved in real time.
BACKGROUND:
The infotainment development of modern era is key featured by interactive
multimedia services encompassing mobile as well as PC terminals. Interactive
multimedia services are becoming the major source of technology to meet social
and entertainment as well as welfare needs of the society.
Live video interactive applications cover a wide range of services and products,
some of which may be categorized as:
• Mobile multimedia based entertainment
• Corporate and business gatherings with shows
• Remote medical care
• Remote interactive education services
• Socio economic and political interactions
• E-Govemance
• Reality shows with video interactivity
• News, views and reviews with interactivity
• Emergency services (Police, Health, Fire, rescue services)
• Travel, lifestyle and sports
• Remote agricultural services.
The information content of multimedia communication and which can be
perceived per bandwidth varies depending on the quality of each type of data.
The basic criteria are that the different types of data must be received and
presented to the user in well defined timing to the extent required by the
particular system.
PRIOR ART AND ASSOCIATED DRAWBACKS IN THE PRIOR ART:
US Patent 5382972 provides a conferencing system for interactive video
communication which includes a composite video signal generation means. The
system preferably also includes a recording unit for producing a permanent,
combined video and audio record of a conference (which may be a court
proceeding such as a criminal arraignment). The system includes a monitor for
each conferee, which displays a composite video signal including a principal
video image in a large picture region of the monitor screen and secondary video
images in small picture regions of the monitor screen. Preferably, all of the large
and small picture regions have substantially the same aspect ratio, full secondary
video images are displayed in the small and large picture regions, and the full
video images displayed in the small picture regions do not obscure any portion of
the full video image displayed in the large picture region. In an alternative
embodiment, the small picture regions are displayed in a picture-in-picture
window which obscures a portion of the principal image displayed in the large
picture region.
One of the technologies used in this area was provided by US patent no.
5655214, which provides a base station includes a tuner and tele text decoder
which outputs base band video, audio and raw text data, along a cabling
infrastructure. A remote PC has a capture card to receive and display the video
picture and assemble the text data into a picture which is stored and displayed as
required. The PC also displays a control application window which, by pointing
and clicking with a mouse, allows control signals to be sent to the tuner to select
channels and pages via a microcontroller. The text information is subjected to an
error checking and re-transmission protocol at the PC.
Similarly, US Patent no. 4061880 provides a time-multiplex programmable
switching apparatus for establishing on demand time shared connections
between pairs of ports. Signals within the system are digital.. A central processor
unit (CPU) including a re-circulating memory carries port address pairs and
digital information to be exchanged along with a status word used for identifying
program loops. Program steps are sequenced or initiated by timing signals and
signaling data from the port units. Common buses interconnect the port units with
the central processor unit. Port units are grouped with a common buffer memory
for converting parallel data from the CPU to serial form. The CPU memory
includes slots for housekeeping functions to detect, inter alia, an off-hook
telephone. The principles of the invention are applicable to telephone central
offices and digital switching systems as for computers.
Korean Patent publication KR 20070102176 provides a system and a method
for interactive viewing of high-resolution multimedia data are provided to allow a
user to view high-resolution multimedia data through a small-sized display device
efficiently by enlarging a specific region of a screen according to the request of
the user. A system for interactive viewing of high-resolution multimedia data is
used to enlarge a specific region of a screen according to the request of a user
when moving picture contents based on PCs are displayed through a small-sized
terminal device such as a cellular phone. The system is used to reproduce
exiting contents for a large-sized display device effectively through a mobile
apparatus having a small display device.
European patent publication EP2180703 provides a system for displaying
dynamic caller identity during point to point and multipoint audio / video
conference. It describes a method for efficiently determining and displaying
pertinent information determined from multiple input and calculated parameters
associated with a video conferencing call. This method for determining and
displaying personal information is performed using input from the user at the
endpoint and calculated information throughout the video conference to present
personal information about the currently speaking person to all participants. The
method this disclosure allows for more user interaction and knowledge transfer
amongst the participants.
This system of video conferencing provided by EP 2180703 are comprised of a
programmable processing unit, one or more cameras coupled with the
processing unit, a network communication device coupled with the processing
unit and a user input coupled with the processing unit. The main drawback was
that the programmable processing unit is configured to delete audio data.
Thus from the discussion of associated prior arts herein above , it can be seen
that existing interactive mobile multimedia technology does not enable multiple
video callers to be brought together into a real or virtual studio as well as theatre
environment, enabling live interaction between themselves, and studio or theatre
hosts, whether for entertainment or other purposes.
Further, the present technologies limit the number of people who could be
brought into the live theatre environment, either in tandem or individually.
OBJECT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
Accordingly, the present invention is directed towards a cellular, wireless and IP
based interactive multimedia system services with quad play.
One object of the present invention is thus based around integration of live video
calls from multiple originating users into a live video platform.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system where the video
platform would capture content from live shows based out of a studio or any
other environments into a multimedia server and mix the incoming video calls
through a real or virtual environment.
Yet another object of the invention is to qualify the sphere of infotainment by
making it interactive and by giving audience the opportunity to participate in
various programs in a real and virtual studio or theatre environment.
More particularly, the object of the invention is to enhance the field of multiple
incoming video streams from people using simple mobile phones and fixed
phones/ IPTV screens, to call into live environment, and be integrated therein in
the same time, and be shown thereafter onto TV screens, mobile phones, IPTV
and other display media. In such a system, there would be no need of traditional
TV vans carrying camera crews and other broadcasting gears to be able to
integrate the callers into live show / studio environment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The invention is more elaborately described in conjunction with accompanying
drawings, wherein,
Figure 1 shows a block diagram view of the interactive multimedia system as per
the present invention
Figure 2 shows the schematic representation of the call deployment system
associated with the present invention
Figure 1 and Figure 2 are enclosed herewith annexed
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
As discussed in the foregoing descriptions, the purpose of the invention is to
create live interactive multimedia sessions, between a show hoisting environment
or studio or theatre, and persons using video mobile phones and other means of
calling into the same environment. This would result in interactive sessions
between the show hosts and callers from outside, and the overall show
comprising.the show hosts, callers and others, would be seen by people over
mobile phones, television and IPTV, etc. there would be no need of traditional TV
vans carrying camera crews and other broadcasting gears to be able to integrate
the callers into live show / studio environment.
The invention can be used in all cases wherever distance based live interactions
between people and a central environment whether in entertainment, medical
diagnostics, educational, business interactions or such facilitation are required.
The invention is based around innovative usage of IP services protocols working
with IVR technologies in real time video interactive platform.
Additionally multiple call cases can also be covered including remote calls in and
call out after video capture in the field.
As can be seen from the Figure 1 of accompanying drawings, a video call is
started by a mobile or fixed user, by dialing LC/SC where LC stands for Long
Codes and SC stands for Short Codes. The call is switched through the MSC of
the concerned telecom company which is represented by Block 1 in Figure 1.
The call is passed though the video gateway of the concerned telecom company
which is represented by Block 2.
At this point the CS call is converted in to PS in Block no. 2 where PS stands for
Packet Switch call. It is required to convert the analog call in to the digital form to
carry it over IP.
The Block 2 and Block 3 (SIP gateway in customer premises) will be connected
over the internet. SIP is Session Initiating Protocol to be installed at caller's
premises i.e. establishes a session between Block 2 and 3. Both the blocks will
register the IP of each in between each of them for handshaking properly. This
can be achieved by IP linking of the source IP and destination IP or by allowing
the destination IP through the firewall of the block 2's end as well as video
platform in MPBN (Main Public Broadcast network). IP of SIP gateway may be
registered in VG & IP of VG is registered in SIP for establishment of the session.
The PS is deployed in Block 3 based on SIP protocol. Here call becomes
established on SIP gateway from video gateway of the telecom industry.
An RTP stream carrying the video data will come to Block 4 which is connected
with Block 3 locally. This streaming also facilitates high quality image prosecution
and viewing.
The call is verified by integrating and thereafter the video dada is directly
imported into the video streaming server by using various types of framework like
VLC. After that it will be mixed with the live video or pre- recorded video . This is
followed by final on demand RTP stream that will be broadcasted in the same
way.
A PS call can also directly come, through GPRS, in to the Block 4 from a web
user, by dialing the public IP of the block no. $ . Before that end user IP should
be registered in to the Block No. 4 . Subsequent to that, the last two procedure
described above shall follow.
In the above way, the invention makes it possible for multiple participant to take
part electronically in the events and theatres or studio over distances away from
the event or theatre or studio, and overcomes the present requirement for
cameras and crews to be carried in mobile vans to distant locations to be
interconnected to a studio / theatre/ event.
Thus the invention opens the field for multiple incoming video streams from
people using simple mobile video phones and fixed phones / IPTV screens, to
call into the live environment, and be integrated therein at the same time, and be
shown thereafter on to TV screens, mobile phones, IPTV and other display
media.
