Center Drop Axle For Heavy Vehicles

Abstract: The center drop axle (9) has an upper member (10), a lower member (11), a pair of spindles (12) and a pair of flanges (13). A drop (19, 20) is provided in the upper member (10) and the lower member (11) and the edges of the drop (19, 20) are provided at the center of the upper member (10) and lower member (11) and are placed to face each other. The upper member (10) and the lower member (11) form a hollow beam having a box section (26), and the length (H), width (W) and thickness of the upper member (10) and lower member (11) are made equal to each other. The spindle (12) is made of a hollow steps shaped cylindrical tube. In another embodiment for the axle (27), the spindles (30) are made of cylindrical solid bar. The axle is made of hot forging process. The shape of center drop axles (9, 27) for the heavy vehicle is more efficient to resist bending, buckling and torsion. [Figure 4]
