Ceramic Based Composite Electrolyte For Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composite electrolyte for solid oxygen fuel cells prepared with 3-8 mol% yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) along with 10-30 wt% of gadolinia doped ceria (GDC) and a process for preparing the same. The composite electrolyte was prepared through a specialized process in order to achieve better properties in terms of strength and ionic conductivity with excellent stability. The process for preparing the composite electrolyte involves mixing required amounts of YSZ and GDC, calcining the mixture, mixing with a solvent to form slurry, adding dispersant and defoaming agent to the slurry, granulating the slurry, processing the granules to form green compacted shape and sintering the green compacted shape.
