Character String Display Device

Abstract: A display device in which a main text and a sub text (Japanese and English a title and a supplementary description etc.) that have a correspondence relationship are both written on a screen and in which character strings can be displayed with good visibility without unnecessary blank space and without the screen layout being compromised even when the display priority (character size etc.) of the main text and the sub text is changed. The display device has a main text character size control unit that determines a common character size at which on a screen having a plurality of composite display regions each composed of the main text or the sub text the respective main text character strings are contained within the respective main text display regions and a sub text character size control unit that determines a common character size at which the respective sub text character strings are contained within the respective sub text display regions. The character sizes determined by the main text/sub text character size control units are used to arrange a plurality of main texts and sub texts in respective display regions.
