Abstract: The present invention relates to a chemical method of strengthening vitrified diamond/ Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) grinding segments and wheels. In particular, the present invention relates to strengthening of vitrified diamond/CBN grinding segments and wheels by chemically treating with potassium salts to replace smaller atoms such as Na+ presentin vitrified glass comprised in the vitrified-diamond/CBN wheel with larger atoms like K+. The method aids in creating the compressive stress which would make the bond harder improving the holding capability of Diamond/CBN grits.
