Abstract: This invention relates to novel CNG fuel system of vehicle comprising of CNG pressure gauge directly mounted on regulator, which is connected with CNG fuel tank by means of a high pressure pipe. It is associated with the following advantageous features: - - CNG high pressure pipes are removed from circuit hence chances of damage and leakage during crash are avoided. Compact. - Gauge and connector is assembled offline so it is very easy to assemble the integrated assembly online. As assembly leakage is checked offline, therefore online leakage checking is reduced.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to novel CNG fuel system of vehicle. The present
invention results in improved crash safety and easy assembly.
PRIOR ART
Currently, in CNG vehicles CNG pressure gauge is connected with high
pressure gas system by means of a 3-way joint (4) as shown in fig. 1 wherein
the gauge (2) is mounted either on body panel or on regulator body (1). CNG
high pressure pipe from storage cylinder (5) is connected with a 3-way joint (4),
from where one pipe extends to pressure regulator and other pipe (3) is
connected to pressure gauge.
However, the disadvantages of the prior art are as follows:-
- Chances of CNG leakage during crash & CNG pipes/ joints may get damaged.
Assembly of pipes and joints is difficult during online vehicle assembly.
CNG leak check after vehicle assembly is difficult.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide novel CNG fuel system
of vehicle which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior art.
Another object of the present invention is to provide novel CNG fuel system of
vehicle which is simple in construction and compact.
Further object of the present invention is to provide novel CNG fuel system of
vehicle which leads to easy assembly.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided novel CNG fuel system of vehicle
comprising of CNG pressure gauge directly mounted on regulator, which is
connected with CNG fuel tank by means of a high pressure pipe.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
!cig. 1 shows: conventional CNG fuel system of vehicle.
Fig. 2 shows: CNG fuel circuit of vehicle according to the present invention.
Fig. 3 shows: novel CNG fuel system of vehicle in accordance with the present
invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:-
The present invention is directed to novel CNG fuel system of vehicle. Reference
may be made to fig. 2 indicating CNG fuel circuit of vehicle, wherein CNG is
filled into the CNG tank (2) through a filling valve (1) connected to each other
by means of high pressure pipe (P). The CNG is maintained at high pressure of
Approx. 200 Bar inside the tank integrated with a valve (3). Said fuel tank is
connected to a pressure regulator (4) through a pressure gauge (C) by means of
high pressure pipe (P). The regulator with high pressure lock off valve (V) and a
filter (5) is provided to reduce the pressure from 200 Bar to 2 Bar. Thus, the
CNG with low pressure is supplied into engine (6). Further, hot water
circulation hoses (H) are provided between the regulator and engine as shown
in figure 2.
Now, reference may be made to fig. 3, in which said system comprising of CNG
pressure gauge assembly (1) mounted on pressure regulator (2). The gauge is
directly connected with the regulator by means of banjo connector and bolt (3).
Said pressure gauge indicates the gas pressure inside the tank and high
pressure line (P)
11uc to direct mounting of pressure gauge on the regulator, 3-way connector is
not required. Thus, the regulator with gauge is directly connected to the CNG
fuel tank by means of a high pressure pipe (4) thereby eliminating the provision
of 3-way connector.
The above provision eliminates CNG high pressure pipes from the system,
thereby making it compact and easy to assemble online.
As high pressure pipe lines are removed, chances of CNG leakage during the
event of crash are avoided.
Advantageous features
- CNG high pressure pipes are removed from circuit hence chances of
damage and leakage during crash are avoided.
- Compact.
Gauge and connector is assembled offline so it is very easy to assemble
the integrated assembly online.
As assembly leakage is checked offline, therefore online leakage checking
is reduced.
; e is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims: -
