Specification

Claims:1. A formulation comprising:
a. microbeads; and
b. a composition coating the microbeads comprising:
i. at least one salt of iron;
ii. curcumin; and
iii. at least one emulsifier,
wherein in said formulation, said salt of iron weight percentage is in the range of 0.01% to 1.2%, and curcumin weight percentage is in the range of 0.001% to 1.1%.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said microbeads are starch beads.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 2, wherein said starch beads are tolerant to digestion by enzymes.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 3, wherein said enzyme is selected from the group consisting of amylase, pepsin, pancreatin, and combinations thereof.
5. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-4, wherein said salt of iron weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 0.16% to 0.64% and curcumin weight percentage in said formulation is in the range of 0.0013% to 0.0055%.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 5, wherein said salt of iron weight percentage in said formulation is 0.64%, and curcumin weight percentage in said formulation is 0.0013%.
7. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-6, wherein said salt of iron is selected from the group consisting of iron choline citrate, ferric ammonium citrate, ferrous ammonium citrate, ferrous fumarate, ferrous sulphate, and combinations thereof.
8. The composition as claimed in any of the claims 1-6, wherein said emulsifier is selected from the group consisting of linoleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, arachidic acid, behnic acid, arachidonic acid, oleic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, docasahexaenoic acid, and combinations thereof.
9. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 1-8, further comprising additives.
10. The formulation as claimed in claim 9, comprising:
a. microbeads; and
b. a composition coating the microbeads comprising:
i. ferrous sulfate;
ii. curcumin; and
iii. oleic acid,
wherein in said formulation, ferrous sulfate weight percentage is in the range of 0.16% to 0.64% and curcumin weight percentage is in the range of 0.0013% to 0.0055%.
11. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in claim 1, said method comprising:
a. contacting at least one emulsifier, at least one salt of iron, and curcumin in the presence of ethanol at a temperature in the range of 25-350C to obtain a mixture to obtain a composition; and
b. contacting said composition with microbeads to obtain a formulation, wherein in said formulation the microbeads are coated with said composition.
