Communication System And Communication Terminal

Abstract: This communication system comprises a base station and a communication terminal that supports inter-terminal communication. Upon entering a state of being able to perform inter-terminal communication with another communication terminal located in the range of another base station which differs from the base station to which the communication terminal is connected, the communication terminal notifies the base station, to which the communication terminal is connected, of connection status information that indicates that said state has been entered. Having received notification of the connection status information, the base station determines, on the basis of the connection status information, whether or not the connection destination of the communication terminal should be changed, via a relay communication terminal which is said another communication terminal, to said another base station having the range in which the relay communication terminal is located. If the connection destination of the communication terminal which provided notification of the connection status information is to be changed, the base station requests that the communication terminal release the connection. After the communication terminal notifies the base station, to which the communication terminal is connected, of the connection status information, if the base station requests that the connection be released, the communication terminal releases the connection to the base station and, via said another communication terminal, establishes a connection to said another base station.
