3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed : -
COMPACT ELECTRICAL SWITCH FIELD OF THE INVENTION :
The present invention in general relates to a compact electrical switch and in particular to a compact electrical switch which is screwless easy to install and dislodge, requiring substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations. The present invention in particular, also relates to a method of manufacturing such a compact electrical switch.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION :
It is traditionally known that electrical switches need to be screwed in and out for replacing and fitting operations. It is also known that such conventional switches are screwed from the back to the base plate and this requires substantial time to open the base plate and unscrew the switches from the back plate for any replacement or fitting operation.
Research is on in this state of the art to design switches which can be removed and installed easily without consumption of substantial time, as under the current scenario, technology has intensified to a great extent , cropping up the need for application for such electrical switches in plenty. However, over the years, significant improvement in that view of the matter is yet to be achieved.
Accordingly there was a long felt need to design electrical switches which are adapted to be removed and installed easily without consumption of substantial time.
The present invention meets the aforesaid long felt need.
All through out the specification including the claims, the words "base plate", "switching knob", "slot", "box type", "terminal contact", "rocker", "cam" are to be interpreted in the broadest sense of the respective terms and include all similar items in the field known by other terms, as may be clear to persons skilled in the art.
Restriction/limitation, if any, referred to in the specification, is solely by way of example and understanding the present invention.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION :
It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch which is screwless and is easy to install and dislodge.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch which requires substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch the individual components of which are replaceable.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch the manufacturing cost whereof is substantially less.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a method of manufacturing a compact electrical switch which is screwless and is easy to install and dislodge.
How the foregoing objects are achieved and the other aspects of the present invention, will be clear from the following description which is purely by way of understanding and not by way of any sort of limitation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION :
Accordingly, the present invention provides a compact electrical switch including a metal rocker housed in a terminal contact holder and resting on a 'V shaped' terminal contact at the middle of said switch, said switch having a box type construction and a switching knob, said switching knob being detachably attachable to said box type construction in a push fit manner along a base plate for its removal and installation from the front.
In accordance with preferred embodiment of the compact electrical switch of the present invention: -said knob is provided with a spigot at its bottom radially mounted with spring members for actuating a cam, said cam resting on said rocker.
-said switch is housed in a bottom holder and there is provided a flap member for covering said base plate causing said switching knob to protrude at the center.
-said switch is made from poly carbonate material.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS :
The nature and scope of the present invention, will be better understood from the accompanying drawing, which is by way of illustration of some preferred embodiments and not by way of any sort of limitation. In the accompanying drawing, the sole figure 1 illustrates a blown up view of the compact electrical switch, according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. This figure 1 is shown in sheet-1 and sheet-2 of the accompanying drawings.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION :
The following describes some preferred embodiments of the present invention, which are purely for the sake of understanding the performance of the invention, and not by way of any sort of limitation.
The present invention essentially provide a compact electrical switch which does not require screw for fixing. These screws are made of polycarbonate material and are easy to install and dislodge. This, in turn ensures requirement for substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations, as the compact electrical switch according to the present invention is fitted from the front, in a push fit manner without disturbing the base plate. The individual components of the compact electrical switch according to the present invention are replaceable and the switch does not require the application of screwing means for fixing.
As illustrated in the accompanying figure 1, which is a blown up view of the compact electrical switch according to the present invention, it includes a metal rocker(5) housed in a terminal contact holder(6) and resting on a 'V shaped' terminal contact(7,8) at the middle of the switch. The switch has a box type construction and a switching knob(2). The switching knob is detachably attachable to the box type construction, in a push fit manner along a base plate for its removal and installation from the front. Preferably , the knob(2) is provided with a spigot(l) at its bottom radially mounted with spring members(3) for actuating a cam(4). The cam(4) rests on the rocker(5). The cam when actuated, provides tilting motion to the switch for off and on function of the switches. The bottom portion(9) of the switch according to the present invention, is also illustrated in the accompanying figure 1.
Preferably, terminal screws are provided to the switch for abutment. More preferably, the switch is housed in a bottom holder and there is provided a flap member for covering the base plate allowing the switching knob to protrude at the center.
The aforesaid design being very simple, the manufacturing and maintenance cost of such switch is also substantially low, facilitating its availability to end users at reasonably low cost. This design facilitates achieving the objects of the invention as stated hereinbefore.
The present invention has been described with reference to a drawing and some preferred embodiments, purely for the sake of understanding and not by way of any limitation and the present invention includes all legitimate developments within the scope of what has been described hereinbefore and claimed in the appended claims.

WE CLAIM :
1. A compact electrical switch including a metal rocker housed in a terminal contact holder and resting on a 'V shaped' terminal contact at the middle of said switch, said switch having a box type construction and a switching knob, said switching knob being detachably attachable to said box type construction in a push fit manner along a base plate for its removal and installation from the front.
2. The compact electrical switch as claimed in claim 1, wherein said knob is provided with a spigot at its bottom radially mounted with spring members for actuating a cam, said cam resting on said rocker.
3. The compact electrical switch as claimed in claims 1 to 2 wherein said switch is housed in a bottom holder and there is provided a flap member for covering said base plate causing said switching knob to protrude at the center.
4. The compact electrical switch as claimed in any preceding claim wherein said switch is made from poly carbonate material.
5. A compact electrical switch substantially as herein described particularly with reference to the accompanying drawings.
