Composition Comprising Hydroxylated Diphenylmethane Derivatives

Abstract: A composition comprises greater than or equal to 75% by weight of water, relative to the total weight of the composition, hydroxylated diphenylmethane derivative(s), oil(s) containing in its structure at least one amide unit, and crosslinked copolymer(s) comprising at least one unit of an unsaturated olefinic carboxylic acid and at least one unit of a (C 10-C 30)alkyl ester of unsaturated carboxylic acid.

Specification

CLAIMS
1. A composition comprising:
(a) greater than or equal to 75% by weight of water, relative to the total weight of the composition;
(b) at least one hydroxylated diphenylmethane derivative of the formula (I),
R1 is chosen from a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched alkyl chain having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, an -OH group, and a halogen, R2 is chosen from a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched alkyl chain having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms,
R3 is chosen from a methyl group or a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched alkyl chain having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms,
R4 and R5 are, independently of each other, chosen from a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched alkyl chain having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an -OH group or a halogen;
(c) at least one oil containing in its structure at least one amide unit;
(d) at least one crosslinked copolymer comprising at least one unit of an unsaturated olefinic carboxylic acid and at least one unit of a (Ci0-C30)alkyl ester of unsaturated carboxylic acid.
2. Composition of claim 1, wherein in the hydroxylated diphenylmethane derivative of
formula (I) is preferably selected from the compound of formula (II):
3. Composition of the claim 1 or 2, wherein the hydroxylated diphenylmethane
derivative of formula (I) is present in an amount ranging from 0.005% to 5% by weight,

preferably from 0.01% to 3% by weight, more preferably 0.1% to 2% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
4. Composition of anyone of the preceding claims 1 to 3, wherein the oil c) is chosen
from the compounds of formula (III),
in which:
the radical R1 represents an optionally functionalized, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or cyclic,
saturated or unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon-based radical containing from 1 to 30
carbon atoms and preferably from 1 to 22 carbon atoms, limits inclusive;
the radicals R2, R3 and R4, which may be identical or different, represent hydrogen or
optionally functionalized, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated
monovalent hydrocarbon-based radicals containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms and
preferably from 1 to 22 carbon atoms, limits inclusive;
r is 0 or 1;
q is an integer from 0 to 2;
p is 0 or 1,
with the proviso that when p = 1, then r is 0 and when p = 0, then q = 0 and r = 1,
preferably:
R1 represents a linear or branched C1-C22 alkyl radical; a linear or branched C2-C22
alkenyl radical; an aryl radical;
R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched CrC6 alkyl group;
R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched CrC6 alkyl group;
R4 represents a linear or branched C1-C10 alkyl radical or a linear or branched C2-C10
alkenyl radical or a sterol residue.
5. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 4, wherein the oil (c) is selected from the group consisting of ethyl N-butylaminopropionate, isopropyl N-lauroylsarcosinate, N,N-diethyltoluamide, or a mixture thereof, even more preferably the oil is isopropyl N-lauroylsarcosinate.
6. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 5, wherein the oil c) is present in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 24% by weight, preferably from 0.5% to 20% by weight, more preferably from 0.5% to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.

7. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 6, wherein the crosslinked
copolymer is chosen from the compounds comprising:
at least one unit derived from olefinic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers of formula (IV):
wherein Ri is selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, and C2H5, and
at least one unit derived from (Ci0-C30)alkyl esters of unsaturated carboxylic acid
monomers of formula (V):
wherein R2is selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, and C2H5, and
R3 is a saturated or unsaturated, branched or unbranched (Ci0-C30)alkyl group,
preferably in formula (V), R2 is chosen from H and CH3, and
R3is chosen from (Ci2-C22)alkyl groups,
more preferably, the crosslinked copolymer is chosen from those formed from a mixture
of monomers comprising:
(a) acrylic acid,
(b) at least one ester of formula (V) described above wherein R2 is chosen from H and CH3, and R3 is chosen from alkyl groups comprising from 12 to 22 carbon atoms, and
(c) at least one crosslinking agent chosen from copolymerizable polyethylenic
unsaturated monomers such as diallyl phthalate, allyl (meth)acrylate, divinylbenzene,
(poly)ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and methylenebisacrylamide.
8. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 7, wherein the crosslinked
copolymer is selected from the group consisting of:
- copolymers comprising from 95% to 60% by weight of acrylic acid, from 4% to 40% by weight of Ci0-C30 alkyl acrylate, and from 0% to 6% by weight of crosslinking polymerizable monomer, and
- copolymers comprising from 98% to 96% by weight of acrylic acid, from 1% to 4% by weight of Ci0-C30 alkyl acrylate, and from 0.1% to 0.6% by weight of crosslinking polymerizable monomer,

wherein the weight ratio are by weight relative to the total weight of the copolymer.
9. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 8, wherein the crosslinked copolymer is present in an amount ranging from 0.05% to 5% by weight, preferably from 0.1% to 1% by weight, more preferably from 0.1% to 0.5% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
10. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 9 is a composition for caring for and/or making up keratin materials, in particular the skin and scalp, and more preferably the skin.
11. A composition for caring for and/or making up keratin materials, comprising, relative to the total weight of the composition:

(a) greater than or equal to 75% by weight of water;
(b) from 0.01% to 3% by weight of at least one hydroxylated diphenylmethane derivative of the formula (II),
(ll)
(c) from 0.5% to 20% by weight of at least one oil selected from the group consisting of ethyl N-butylaminopropionate, isopropyl N-lauroylsarcosinate, N,N-diethyltoluamide, or a mixture thereof; and
(d) from 0.1% to 1% by weight of at least one crosslinked copolymer comprising at least one unit of an unsaturated olefinic carboxylic acid and at least one unit of a (C10-C30)alkyl ester of unsaturated carboxylic acid.

12. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 11, wherein the viscosity ranges from 10 UD (Deviation Units) to 80 UD, preferably from 10 UD to 50 UD, measured at 25°C using a Rheomat 180 viscometer equipped with a spindle M2 rotating at 200 rpm.
13. Composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 12 which is in the form of an oil in water emulsion, or an oil in water dispersion.
14. A cosmetic process for caring for and/or making up keratin materials, comprising the application, to the surface of the said keratin material, of at least one composition of any one of the preceding claims 1 to 13.

15. Use of the composition according to any one of the preceding claims 1 to 13, for making up/caring for keratin materials, especially for the skin, and in particular the face.
