Composition For Thickening Agent For Textile Printing Containing Carboxymethyl Hydroxyalkyl Ether Of Cassia Tora

Abstract: The present invention relates to carboxymethyl hydroxyalkyl ether of Cassia tora (CMHACT) and its use in textile printing. Polygalactomannans are polysaccharide that are found in the endosperm material of seeds from leguminous plants such as Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (guar gum), Cesalpinia spinosa (tara gum), Ceratonia siliqua (locust bean gum) and another important source is Cassia tora (collectively known as Cassia gum). The average ratio of p-D-mannopyranose to ct-D-galactopyranose units in the polygalactomanan contained in Cassia gum is at least 5:1. The carboxymethyl hydroxyalkyl ether of Cassia tora (CMHACT) has been synthesized in situ by reacting Cassia tora splits with sodium monochloroacetate (SMCA) and ethylene/propylene oxide (EO/PO) in the presence of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). This new material showed significant improves the properties compared to parent polysaccharide such as increased its solubility in cold water, stability and shear thinning behavior. The material thus developed was studied for its suitability as excellent thickeners for various dyes like reactive, metal complex etc. and printing on cotton, silk, prints by CMHACT are of higher color strength, good leveling and washing properties. Thus this new double derivative (CMHACT) used extensively as thickener in textile printing as a replacement for alginate, starches, cellulose, galactomannans and it derivatives.

Specification

FORM-2 THE PATENTS ACT, 1970 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION [Section 10] 1. COMPOSITION FOR THICKENING AGENT FOR TEXTILE PRINTING CONTAINING CARBOXYMETHYL HYDROXYALKYL ETHER OF CASSIA TORA 2. (A) ENCORE NATURAL POLYMERS PRIVATE LIMITED (B) 227/233 GIDC ESTATE NARODA AHMEDABAD - 382330 GUJARAT, INDIA (C) NATIONALITY AN INDIAN. The following specification particularly describes and ascertains the nature of the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed. COMPOSITION FOR THICKENING AGENT FOR TEXTILE PRINTING CONTAINING CARBOXYMETHYL HYDROXYALKYL ETHER OF CASSIA TORA Field of Invention The present invention relates to COMPOSITION FOR THICKENING AGENT FOR TEXTILE PRINTING, wherein synthesized carboxymethyl hydroxyalkyl ether of Cassia tora (CMHACT) is used as thickening agent in textile printing. More particularly, the invention relates to a textile printing comprising such thickening composition, and use thereof. Background Cassia tora (L. Baker), also knows cassia obtusifolia (L inn), represents a kind of cassia which thrives preferably in a tropical climate. The polysaccharides which are present in the endosperm portions of Cassia tora are built up chiefly of galactose and mannose units, and only minor amount of other sugar residues. In particularly, they are polygalactomannans. The average ratio of β-D-mannopyranose to α-D-galactopyranose units in the polygalactomanan contained in Cassia gum is at least 5:1 (Fig. 1). In literature many reaction product prepared by subjecting a guar gum, starch, tamarind and cellulose to hydroxyalkylation or carboxymethylation is useful as a thickening agent for industrial pastes, for example, printing paste in textile industries and binding paste in paper industry. Sodium alginate is widely used for reactive and disperse dyes. When the above mentioned products are used in a printing paste, they are poor in compatibility with reactive dyes or metal complex dyes except sodium alginate, since they react with such dyes to gel and they all are too costly. The choice of a polymer is made on the basis of its performance and, if more than one product can satisfy industrial requirements, on the basis of its cost. To overcome the above limitation the present invention is used new ether derivative of Cassia tora as carboxymethyl hydroxyalkyl Cassia tora (CMHACT) particular used as a thickening agent in printing paste for textile industry. Summary of invention It is an object of the invention to provide a thickening agent for paste, especially a printing paste, which has a good compatibility with a variety of reactive dyes, metal complex dyes and is capable of imparting good levelling property, colour strength and wash-off property to the paste. It has been found out that the above mentioned objects can be accomplished by a thickening agent for pastes which comprises a carboxymethyl hydroxyalkyl derivative of Cassia tora (CMHACT), the product satisfying the following equation (1) and (2). 0
